Thread: Price of buffs a small rant

Recently, due to an increase in medical supply cost, lack of decent material, and necessessity I raised the cost of buffs from 6k to 7k. When I was pricing buffs at 6k no one said a word. Why is it that people now are bawking at 7k price for buffs? People know that I give good buffs. I'm only using enhance packs with a power of 840+ (many better). I even have people trying to play the card "but I had you on my friends list". Does this freaking matter? I buff you so that makes you my friend and eligible for a discout in some way? Over the past week I have actually started to slow the rate at which I buff people, even going so far as to remove my title every so often. Now I still sell my buffs even at 7k and haven't backed off of that price. I am slowly collecting enough materials so that I might create my own enhance packs, however that is a very slow process as the materials on Bugfin aren't very good and I don't have the millions of credits to compete in the uber auctions as of yet. OK, OK...enough ranting.

More power to you, less hassle for you. If they really won't pay the slight increase, just ignore them if they can't understand that prices might not always be at a set level. (Lack of) Competition, inflation, and who else knows what factors into higher prices.

My buff prices are as follows.

1k creidts per 1k buffed rounded down per stat.

0 - 999 = Free
1k - 1999 = 1k
2k - 2999 = 2k
3k+ = 3k

In this way your customer gets to pay for results. I have had 2 out of my last 100 customers complain that prices were too high and decline any buffs.

Another thing this pricing does for you is that you can have the people, that you don't really trust, pay as you go. They feel better that you aren't going to take their money and run. You feel better that they aren't going to take your buffs and run.

I do warn people that my prices are higher than the average. For most it isn't an issue.

The big worry is that they would have to pay 18k for buffs if all 6 stats hit 3k+. Odds of getting an 18k buff are pretty slim even with 850 power enhances.

I still get people that come to me for buffs when other doctors are hawking their buffs for 5k or less. It seems that most people are very comfortable in paying for results instead of a fixed rate. After all if it costs them more they are in fact getting more.

/alias bufft: /telltarget This buff is made from [currently available materials|the best materials I've collected] it will cost you [amount] in advance. The average buff on each stat should be in the [1000] to [2000] range. If you get more or less, **edit** happens. It's not guaranteed. If your unhappy - there isnt a refund. In the future the price may change due to component costs. I [can|will not] travel to you [the fee is [negotiable]].

I've also got /alias buffr: /reply ...

Haven't used them yet, but am ready. I buff friends and guildmembers that group with me. I value my time. I doubt many would pay the 20k or so I think my time is worth finding/waiting for a victim outside starports on chimaera.

Interesting concept. How do you "hawk" your wares? or do you go by word of mouth now? I haven't had to do a shout for over a while now just get tells from people asking if I'll buff them...or the occassional one coming up in a full suit of composite asking for free buffs because he is new. Guess he should have asked his friend for more credits...

Make a macro for responding to tells

State your price for buffs

State your location

State that the money needs to be paid up front

State that you are not willing to move to thier location or haggle in any manmner.

Use it to respond to all tells reguarding buffs, no matter what they say.

You will still have them lining up to be buffed.

I definately don't "hawk". Master Doctor floating over my head appears to be enough to make me busier than I usually care to be. Many have thanked me for the consistency in my buffs and become repeat customers.

If i am asked for a buff and I know that someone else in town is buffing for less, I always refer them to the cheaper fares. I don't live to buff and don't really need the money. I will, however, buff if I am just hanging out in town or waiting for a friend.

I use 850+ packs always and charge 8k on inner rim worlds and 10k on advanced planets. The pricing is my way or the highway, although if they complain I guarantee none under 1000 if their BF=0 or all 8k refunded. That usually shuts up complainers and isn't really giving anything since with my packs there is no chance of <1000.

If your using 840+ packs there's a big difference between you and the jokers out there charging 6k for a set of buffs with 2k max. You deserve to get paid more for the extra mile you go to get better resources not to mention better performance. If you establish yourself as an elite buffer people will always come back to you and won't care what u charge.

hhmmm well i bought a factory crates of 5 packs at 900plus base. total 30 packs each at 60000.

total cost to me 360000. 28 uses each. i charge 6k no discounts avg 1400-3000 bufs

after to pcks of complete buffs are done 56 full buffs at 6k equals 336k .

3 remaining sets 84 buffs equals 504000. total profit roughly 480k. i dont understand how this isnt a good profit for you guys. i wont be raising my prices and even offer free buffs if i am in the mood

I charge 7k and have been for awhile now. Yeah some people complain but oh well. I can tell ya that I have enough repeat custmoers and those that know I am a Master Doc. I have not worn my title in the longest time. Personally I find it funny the day when buff prices really go up cause everyone is gouging us for resources.

I've been using the same system for 3 months..

"0 - 999 = Free
1k - 1999 = 1k
2k - 2999 = 2k
3k+ = 3k"

NO problems here.. get the 1 out of 20 "HUH? iI'm used topay 5K for all stats. and that's forbuffsall 3000+!" line...

I have so many regular customers it doesnt faze me anymore...

I still get pissed when i hit someone for 950 when all my packs are above 900!
