Thread: How much will people pay for a BUFF?

I was at Coronet the other day buffing. I had about a 30 min line going...and someone sent me a /tell saying they wanted to cut in line and get a quick buff. I told him that I dont usually do that but I would for one million credits (i was joking...but he took it serious). He then bank tipped me one million credits and I let him cut and then I buffed him. Has anyone elsehad this happen? 1 million creds?

So since then I have been charging alittle more...and have found when buff demands are high people will pay up to 30k per buff. (I buffed13 in a row @ 30k when I was the only Doctor at Coronet) So my question is "How do you feel about price changing on the fly?" Example: I was charging 30k as the only Doc there....then 2 more Docs show up....so I lower my prices to 8k on the fly. The people in my line got pissed...as they saw what I did. I feel as if I can charge whatever I want to whoever I want. Is this wrong?

I'm not in this profession to help people...I'm in it to make money. I'm a roleplayer in-game...my character is a A-HOLE. I'm not all lovey-dovey, in fact I like my character to stir up arugument. He's kind of like that "Seinfeld soup nazi".....if I dont like you then "NO BUFF FOR YOU" even if you have waited 30 min in line, I will kick you out of it. I take no grief from anyone and I dish alot of grief out. I'm not this way in real life...but I like to roleplay. People seem to take it very personal...Im just roleplaying though. I play a different charater ingame than I do in real life. I guess thats why I play the game...to roleplay a A-HOLE Mon Cal. Is this wrong?

with the credit nerf your not effecting old players but hurting the new players since they can't afford to get buffed with those prices.

I disagree...there is always some doctor buffing for 6-10k...You might have to look around but trust me, someone will always buff noobs. There is alot of very nice doctors in the game, I'm not one of them. I'm not hurting noobs...if they can't afford it,then go across the street. I'm not a noob helper.

Supply and demand will always reign. Back in the solo group days, a lot of players who made their money from Janta missions could justify paying up to 50k for a buff. The way they saw it, spending 20 minutes in line for a buff @ 10k was less profitable than paying 50k to cut and spending the time saved running 2 janta missions for a total of 60k...

Nowadays only the truly impatient would pay more for a quick buff.

What you don't understand is There was a credit nerf so the idea to charge 15-30k a buff nolonger is supported by people bringing in a mil credits a buff session. Doctors are going to have resources cheaper because of this and in a result buffs are going to be more abundant. I pay for a 2nd character to buff myself and sometimes i pay for a buff in cnet Only way i would even consider handing over 15k to a doctor is to cut in line for a buff. Other than that if a doc is charging over 15k i consider him riping people off.

I do understand the nerf...and thanks for the reply...but people are still willing to pay 30k for a buff when the buff demand is high. Ionly look for starports that have no doctors and then I tax everyone for that same reason. Yes, I would say that I rip people off but it is a free marketplace. I can make more money buffing a few people@ 30k than I do at buffing 10 people @ 10k.

I figure, whatever people will pay is a fair price- supply and demand, etc.

So i agree with Austin, If he is the only person at a starport he can charge more; only if there is competition will he have to lower prices.

The Doctor is hurting no one... blame the economy and the people that are willing to pay that much... afterall, the reason buffs are more than 5k nowadays is only b/c people are willing to pay more.

I've buffed for as much as 300k before, most I ever paid on Sunrunner tho was 50k [double the norm at the time].

Being a Master Doctor who does a lot of buffing at the Dant MO, I have never gone above 12k, even when I'm the only doctor around. I've gone lower when my buffs have been lower, but even when my buffs have been higher than the average (2300's, 3.5 hrs) I have never gone higher than 12k. I still make a good profit so I'm happy. Besides what are you gonna spend money on in this game.... I have a couple houses, a couple swoops, a couple factories, two sets of armor, a couple weapons, food, furniture, clothing and money in the bank so I'm happy. I'm sure people would pay more (and most of my customers do) but I see no reason to charge more. And if a player tells me he's new to the game and doesn't have money or doesn't have enough money for the buff I will buff them for free. Heck I've even given away brandy, canapes, muon, batteries, swoops.... well you get the idea.... But with me, I charge one price when I'm alone, or when there are other doctors buffing!

I've never charged over 15k for a normal buff. I buff from around 2400 to 2800(Player citys) But for a line cut normal around 40k to 60k, deponds on how high of a buff. But I normaly do a speed buff with it. Paying me more then anyone else, might as well do it as fast as possible.

Even when someone stops me when I'm doing something else with a tell asking about a buff. I'm more then happy to give them a buff. I still change the same amount that I normal charge for what the current buffs I'm doing. Tho out of a buff pack of about 80 buffs I normal give about 20 of those away for free. Mostly to guild members and the rest to new players that are starting out and have very little money on hand.

if i'm the only doc there and i have a line of 30 people i'm gona charge 20k. If people are too lazy to go to dant and get a buff for 12k then its there problem. I'm gona keep chargeing 20k if people keep throwing money at me
