(this has probably been asked a billion times already - forgive me)

After the combat "changes" and the looming patch that will "re-vamp" combat.....

What do you guys and gals recomend for a combat class to compliment doctor?

Just curious as to what you think is the BEST combat class to go with Doc?

Please note I am looking for something well rounded in PVP and PVE

I was thinking....

Doc / TKA - nice perks, but only kenetic damage

Doc / Fencer - does fencer do enough damage to matter?

Doc / Rifle - sounds fun but the mind drain on rifles is a pain

Doc / Carbine - Never done carbs - good idea?

Doc / Pike - lol I would need doc JUST for the ham costs

Right now I am Doc / swords and there are very few things in the game I can not kill - and as for PVP I can definatly hold my own

No one other than the devs, not even us correspondants, know what the combat revamp will bring, so that is impossible to answer the way you asked it.

I did Doc/Carb and the HAM costs are brutal...except that being buffed makes it less of a pain.

Im doing TKA now but many docs I know say swordsman with the mind hits is great.

ATM im a Master Doc, 3/3/0/4 Combat Medic and Novice TKA...to do this I had to give up all artisan and scout so no surveying or harvesting.

As fun as CM is, I may give that up to get back surveying etc.

Hope this helps.

with tkm you get a very nice mind hit, Nexu Grin.

tkm/doc like me... your are practically invincible to the effects of CM's in PvP if your poison antidotes are good.

plus, your accuracy is insane, you can solo almost any creature that isn't 100% kinetic, you can absorb damage like crazy, and of course, you inflict massive damage yourself.... its a great combo. it seems to be a really nice combo in PvP raids where in the confusion alot of people forget to kite you.

Ya I dropped TKA for swordsman - no wondering if I made a mistake

Don't get me wrong - as Doc / Swords, I can kill things MUCH faster then I ever could as a TKA.

And the Blast Damage is very good against high lvl MOBs.

I understand that Doc plus any combat class is going to be very strong - what I am asking is which is the Best combo ?

After having Master Doc, you really only have the skill points for one elite profession - just want to make sure I am getting the most out of my combat class

I love my combination, swrodsman is easily the best on PVE, but i dont think its anywhere close to some other classes in PVP.

I PVE 100% of my time, so swordsman was the obvious choice for me there.

Carbine is the weakest ranged class in the game, until "fixed" I wouldn't recommend it.

Problem with going TKA / Doc is that TKAs suck in all PvP b/c pretty much everyone has 80% kinetic comp, or better. You chip away at people for like 50 damage at a time, which is much slower then the speed you are draining your mind.

I was Master Doc/TKM for quite awhile and it's a very nice combo for PvE. I found it to be ok...not great...for PvPer. Personally as a Master Doc I'd rather keep my range in PvPer and Mind Shoot them from a distance.

I have the 4 boxes in rifles in Novice Marksman(don't have Novice Rifleman)filled in and went up against a friend of mine who's about halfway through TKM and was able to take her out with little problem. 2 Brandies and 1 Ahrisa and the mind cost from the rifle special is nothing which I was jacking my focus with TKM anyway to use a VK with no mind cost.

For PvE I just found a good spray stick that's sliced to 1.3 and just spam Mind Hit 2 which works out even if the mob is on top of you since it hits so fast. With Composite and buffs I can still do the 11k missions on Endor though it takes a bit of time but I'm pretty used to TKM so of course it seems longer.

TKA/Doc is really fun if you play at all with a group that has at least one ranged combat profession to prevent you from getting kited.

The clincher for me is the 50% mind bonus when powerboosting. Getting ent buffs are pretty hard on my main server Kauri. Spamming UAH3 isn't even a concern when boosted.

Doc/Swordsman is more versatile in combat just because your'e not limited to kinetic damage and having the mind bleed is fun. But I still think Nexu Grin is a viable alternative as well. Doc/Fencer and Doc/Pike just don't seem to be as effective as the other two melee professions.

Any Ranged/Doc makes being an effective doc harder since most of the damage you'll need to heal in a group is going to be melee and moving in and out of ideal range becomes more trouble than its worth. Rifles with Doc is basically a self buffing rifleman, because with the mind costs to rifles, you're almost never going to be an effective doctor. Want to heal with range? Ranged/CM might be a better alternative.

Well, as someone mentioned, none of us have a clue about what professions will be good after the revamp.

I mastered carbine at one point and I absolutely hated it. The HAM costs (action) were ridiculous. When you get close to master the damage output was ok, but not fantastic. Basicly, if I couldn't find a buff I'd just log off (this was before I was a doctor) because it wasn't worth my time to play since I'd have to sit down for a few minutes inbetween each battle waiting to recover. If you're a master doc who can buff yourself it might be ok though.

I'm working on fencer at the moment and I really like it. Lots of defenses, fencers are hard to hit or land any state effects on. The only drawback is that the damage output is really low. But you don't take as much damage either, so what happens is you end up with long PVE fights as you whittle away at the MOB's HAM, and also you function very well as a tank in group hunts. I've heard fencer is great for PVP, but I haven't really tried that out yet.

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

Not sure I agree with you here. As far as PvP goes, yes, rifles and pistols are far more effective (unless a carbineer's in a group, where others can take advantage of the states that a carbineer can apply and don't forget the area dizzy/kd). On the other hand, acarbineer in PvE is pretty effective in that most of our attacks are AoE now. I regularly get comments from group members who are surprised when I tell them I'm a carbineer. As long as the mob isn't 100% resist to energy and acid. It's nice to fire chargeshot2 and watch 6-7 mobs get knocked along with 1000-1500 damage. I thin almost any combat profession can be effective if a good strategy is used.
