Thread: Your thoughts on the resouce reward?

At first it sounds grand, pickout any resouce you want. In TC you could pick any that ever spawned, however, the intent was any currently spawning. It is yet to be seen how it will play out live.

This will greatly impact the doc prof more than any other, simply because Avian is, on average, the most valuable resouce in the game.

Personaly, I am not so sure I like the idea of all my avian that I worked rather hard to collect suddenly becomeing very devalued.

The avian hunters will also take it in the shorts. Why pay hunters when you can do a server swap (like trading lots) or buy the reward in the forums.

Ahh, well, we will adapt.

Doesn't bother me one bit...i use my buffs mainly for guild and friend buffing. THough i can see how those Docs who buff for income would get upset, as well as hynters rely on this for income as well. On a side note.. can you still get any resource that has spawned or was that fixed for release to only current in cycle?? can anyone cofirm..

You can get any resource past or present. Tested and confirmed. Also the reward is per account not character so you cannot do lot trades to get the resources. and you can only do it once per year, so 30k per year per account, I think the economy will survive.

Thanks, so now the choice is Pisro, Isneja, or Aieprema....

I suppose Thamothmid will no longer sell for 1100cpu on Flurry. At least not in the short term.

It will also mean a period where any buffs made with current avian will not sell since there will be many buffs with the best resources ever on the market. It should all sort itself out in a few months, but it will have an impact...

Exactly why I did not bid on the Ohio that was up for auction. I would much rather spend my credits on some of the Tham that will soon be "spawning".

Was that test in the Test Center environment, or live?

Also interested in what the interface is like... If it is a list of all resource names, that is one thing. But if you have to type out the name, there could be typos. I wonder what it would do if you chose a name that didn't exist? I have long wondered if the name is really some sort of a hash of the galaxy, planet, and stats. If that is the case, you might be able to use a typo to create a stack of perfect avian. These are the things that keep me awake at night when I am away from home and can't get online...

I go a step farther when something gets bid up - I sell. When I saw some 250 cpu auctions for best ever class 4 liquid fuel on Scylla (which roughly translated into paying 24,000 credits a set for an extra 2 power over a more common, though still old, class 4 liquid), I sold 75% of my year old stock. I've also sold several other best ever buff type resources, only keepingrelatively small quantities for PvP uses. So now I'm selling 900 power buffs instead of 935 power buffs. But I think I've come out ahead on these deals financially and I figure holding credits is less risky than holding resources long term.

I'm undecided how much I want to buy into the "new" resources that will soon be on the market. Since every buff crafter will now basically have at least limited quantities of the exact same resources, I'm not convinced that the most powerful buff packs will retain the same price premium that they enjoy today. Will be an interesting time for speculators.

I've never been a big fan of purchasing resources, so it doesn't matter to me if the harvesters take a hit. I think the price for avian is way to high even if it takes time to find XX critter.

I think that the Resources Reward is good for the people that don't really buff the public. It gives us a chance to make something worth-while, without killing our banks for it. 30k and whatever resources I get (probably avian, haven't decieded) will last me a very long time, so it will help out in the long run.

As with all things, Avian will become cheap but something else will become rare...However it IS good to loosen the stranglehold of a select few on resources...

It's upsetting me because on eclipse, our best spawn of avian meat(also the best spawn of avian meat ever on all servers) pisro, is flooded on the trade forums.

Virtually makes the price of the meat less now, and the rest of the avians I have

This is exacly my point. It has just killed the crafting doc.

I have about 500k of good avian. It is now rather worthless. Who is going to want a 900 power buff when they can have a 950 power buff for free?

Thank goodness I did not use my other resouces to craft with that avian, then not only would the avian be worthless but so would the other high end resouces I would have used to craft an inferior back.

The difference in 50 points is not that big. Plus you have to remember most of the buffing docs don't make their own packs, its all bout less effort for reward. The crafting Docs are still going to own the market.
