I have noticed recently (since the pub. 13 update) that I find it harder to find people to heal. Almost every person I try to heal "would be unwise to help this patient." My character is an RPspiritual healer (Doctor 0/0/0/1), unaffiliated with either faction (ex-rebel) and I would think he should be able to heal anyone. I noticed the new Covert/Overt system in place, but it seems like I can't heal anyone who is Combatant or higher. Since Combatant seems to be the best choice for anyone who's into the GCW, I basically cannot heal anyone. This doesn't seem right.
I am civilian. I should be able to heal anyone. Maybe not Overts; that I can understand. But Combatants should be open to civilian healers. Factionally aligned healers I can see as only healing their own side, civilians, and anyone On Leave. But for the love of Talara, let me heal someone. Don't make me resort to the tumbling trick (I refuse to grind)! So many times I've had to turn people away who have had so many wounds (which is turning away a lot of XP) and i feel bad, because my character wouldn't do that - he helps anyone.

Icouldn't agree more. I know they have their reasons for limiting us in who we can heal, espically with the whole GCW, but i still would have liked to see wounds on the same level as buffs. If i can buff someone i should also be able to do their wounds. How is wound healing putting one side or the other at more of an advantage then buffs would?

it might be nice if they could make med centers a nuetral zone, allow healing for all. If players start fighting just in med centers to exploit this they might be able to make med centers non combat areas.
just food for thought

I think I can explain why it's not that way. Allowing us to heal everyone would result in unattackable healers. I think you'll agree that it would be a huge issue for combatants or special forces to take part in factional combat while being healed by civilian healers who cannot be attacked. Enhancing is a pre-combat action so it doesn't have the same potential for exploitation. I agree though (and stated it before the GCW changes went live) that wound healing should be treated like buffing. The system now makes it extremely difficult for a new medic to gain XP without resorting to grinding via tumblers and the like.
I aggree with you on how it is thought out, but saying it will apply to healing in general is not the right answer. We want WOUND healing to be able to be done by anyone, DAMAGE healing on the other hand should be restricted as it is now. Now think of it, how many takes the time to heal wounds during a PvP fight.
Why not make it so that at those places where one would auto-regen wounds, anyone could heal there wounds but not initiate in combat or be initiated by outside sources.

How about this for a radical idea.
Make all medical professions nutral, no fraction based medics or doctors.
Combat medics! They would still need to be able to join a fraction, but if they do they lose the ability to heal, they can just use their offencive abilities.
This would re-enforce the idea that doctors and medics have a higher calling, above the fractional fighting.

Uh, no.
You want to deny all the GCW content of the game to anyone who takes up a healing role? For the factions to be without healers makes no sense, and would be game breaking.

That's exactly what the yellow part of my post means.

Seems like I've seen several threads like this going around....oh well
I say pick a side in the GCW, you can't deny the war going on all around you, it's time for you citizen to decide what impact you wish to make...
And it's been stated before that anyone who really really needs to be healed can simply just go On Leave. From a game mechanics point of view the new TEF (or lack thereof) system is a much more sound system for combat, far less vulnerable to the types of exploits that have overrun this game for a long time. To make it even easier to recover from death (which I think should have some harsher penalties), your status should automatically go On Leave if you clone and are already combatant.
Perhaps some players just need to get used to the fact that if they are combatant or spceial forces they may not be able to interact with 'nuetral' people the way they can with people loyal to thier faction.

Exactly! If anything, it should be the other way around - I can heal an enemy if I choose to do so, but enhancing them would be seen as treason, and thus, unwise.

They don't have to go on leave to get buffed why should they have to go on leave to get wounds healed? Still doesn't seem balanced.
