Thread: Force Ranking System Feedback...

The Senior Designer who wrote the FRS needs your feedback. Here are some of his questions:

Gaining/Losing of Force Rank experience –

This still need to be balanced. I need feedback to make those changes. FRS Jedi gain experience by killing players from the opposing faction. The amount of experience gained is based on the power level of the target (non-Jedi aren’t worth as much as Jedi). FRS Jedi loose experience by being killed by players from the other faction. The more powerful the Jedi is in relation to the player that made the kill, the more experience is lost.

The feedback I need is how easy/difficult is it to gain FR experience. Are you able to make enough to qualify a new rank? Can you maintain the experience that you earn, or is it lost too quickly in pvp, etc.

Do the daily experience costs and costs for missing a vote seem reasonable? Keep in mind that TC is running the maintenance cycle at an accelerated rate. The true value is once per day.

If you lose too much experience, you lose a rank. Do the thresholds feel okay? Is the demotion setting up everything properly (your skills are correct, the enclave shows you at the proper rank)? Does the demotion work even if you aren’t on-line?

The experience mechanics, including the demotions, are designed to work anywhere in the game. Test this out by doing battle on a server different from the where the Enclave exists. It is possible that certain problems could arise only if the player is not on the same server as the Enclave.

FRS Advancement Mechanics –

The promotion/demotion systems need a good workout. Are you getting the skills that you should get? Is the data on your character staying in sync with the enclave data (the rank you have as shown by your FR skill tree should equate to your position as displayed with /showCouncilRank).

Make sure the petition/voting/acceptance logic is working as intended. Try to do wacky things to break it.

Check out the Dark Jedi challenge system. Are you getting the correct TEFs? Can you find any way to “cheat” in order to give yourself an unfair advantage or to avoid the battle. Do the challenge acceptance requirements seem reasonable?

Thanks!!

Xp is lost way to quickly, I hope it is at an excelerrated rate on test but some would like to go out and see daylight every so often and not lose a rank....

I'll use Tarquinas for example.

We simply do not have enough Imperial overts and/or Dark Jedi to sustain a force ranking.

I will not be able to advance due to lack of people to kill.

Oh and just fyi: I'm sure there will be no shortage of Elite unemployed power games who will lock up the 11 seats avialable.. Seems like a big issue that will rear its ugly head soon after the system goes live...

Is there any documentation on how this is supposed to work? A lot of us spent time last night trying to figure out the voting, petition, promotion, and challenge system at the enclave.

I'm glad to hear that TC2 is accellerated. I was getting irked at losing 300FR XP every few hours.

Other than that, I cannot kill another jedi. Simply can't do it. Lightsaber does such pitiful damage that it's just a endless duel.

We tried. the only edge people had were force lighting and things like that. Lightsabers are pretty, but useless.

I actually saw someone in a duel put his light saber away and pull out a CDEF pistol, and doubled his damage output by doing so. That's so... wrong.

Take care,

As dark jedi?

hard to test as there are a billion of rebel jedi who jump on you where ever you go.

I do like 30 damage to other jedi as most are defense stackers, you are forced to go master lightsaber and master defense if you want to survive in the ranking system.

A QA/Dev said i had to drop all my jedi skills but fs to join the ranking system so i did and she gave me a new template, no melee defense and no force armor so i die very quickly since then.

Right now i can barely kill other jedi as i only got yes.. 0 damage crystals from the starting kit so i'm stuck with a very low saber damage output and i can't even solo nightsisters due the high force cost and very low damage output on my saber to get decent crystals to upgrade my saber with

They need to balance jedi vs jedi vs xxxprofession better first to test this system better, right now it is so unbalanced.

give me another 2 weeks to finish the trials and i'll let you know...

the Trials will be fine on live, but im sory if we dont want to waste 4 days testing the spawn rate on Blurrg raptors for you, only to have these characters whiped away.

can you all not simply turn up the spawn rates of these mobs on TC2 to help us out? say 10x on the wild mobs? and shorten the respawn timers on the static spawns? think we have basicly outlined all the problems with the knight trials already, and we are ready to move on.

I just want to throw this in. It seems that it's a Jedi free-for-all: Light vs Light, Dark vs Light, Dark vs Dark, Jedi vs Faction etc.

This is a bad choice IMO. The FRS XP gain should be additionally rated based on alignment. Dark should get more XP for killing a Light Jedi than a Dark Jedi (to encourage Dark Jedi to hunt Light Jedi), and Light Jedi should recieve no XP for killing Light Jedi (that is just not what the Light Side is all about).

Some consideration should be given for keeping Jedi out of the GCW. If Knights are as powerful as has been suggested - and they have to keep up a high rate of XP gain over a long time - it's only logical to assume that Knights will grind XP on Overt Factioned "normal" players (as players will always take the path of least resistance).

Since Knights should be able to take down multiple players (according to advertisement) I'd predict in this situation that there will be roving Jedi just looking to gank Overt normals. This will kill an already struggling PvP GCW and force even more people into the Jedi ranks to compete.

Jedi need their own conflict to worry about to keep them out of the GCW by and large. I have a notion in my sig as one possibility.
