Welcome to the weekly In-Concept Open Discussion thread.

For the In-Concept threads you see in this forum, please stay on topic in the specific threads so we can get focused feedback; consider them "Focus Threads". If you have general questions about the process, new concepts or other types of comments, pleasepost themin this thread.

I was thinking a really cool loot item would be a structure deed for a structure which is very usefull for storage. For instance, the structure could require higher maintenance costs but only use one lot... it wouldn't even need to have an interior fleshed out by the art devs... it could just use the mechanics of a factory but be aimed at storage.

Also, I was wondering if NPCs are ever going to be able to use vehicles and/or mounts.

thanks

Open Discussion eh? Well then, let me hop right in.

From last week's discussion:

Why not make Rebels who kill Imperial Crackdown Stormtroopers appear on the Bounty Hunter Terminals? The Empire, instead of doing nothing about the 15 Stormtroopers killed in Kaadara, posts a bounty on the head of the murderer. Or, instead of doing this, make the murdering Rebel kill on sight to all other Imperial Crackdown Stormtoopers until he/she is killed by them.

I believe my idea is a good one. Anybody else?

This is a great idea. I'll share it with the team. Everyone reads the weekly dev cycle threads, but I'll send this around for a second look.

While this sounds great, how about we first fix the current issues (Jedi Bounties) with the BH Terminals. And since we're on that topic, is there any way that we can get an update on the status on the Jedi Bounty Mission problem? We were told early this week (and while I realize it is very early Monday morning, I'd just like to get an update, hardly demanding it be fixed THIS SECOND) and I would just like to follow up on that...

Thanks!

Currently when rerollingour 2nd char onthe sameserver (ie Jedi), we get to recratea Jedi in the current form (start as initiate).

After Revamp in patch 9, what state will have a char after a Jedi reroll, force sensitif? Jedi? back to quest to unlock?

There where people who lost their slot not knowing deletingthe mainchar on the server would do so.

What will be the catch after the revamp for deleting either of the 2 chars ?

TH,

Will we hear any news of a Hutt Faction soon or at all? Any hints at this coming in the GCW Publish?

There have been serveral hints at this (Hutt missions for Neutral Corvette, and the mention of Hutt Fighters in the SE).

Please, a comment?

from the Politician forum:

as you know citizens cannot be /citybanned

mayors need some way to enforce the law (leaving /citywarn out of the issue for the time being)

I propose that mayors be granted the ability to place a fine on citizens... there should be a maximum amount for the fine, and there should be a maximum frequency of placing the fine on any one citizen... the fine should have to be payed at the City Terminal, and up until the fine were payed, the citizen should be effectively /citybanned (inable to use city utilities)... upon the fine being payed, the effective /cityban would be instantly removed from the citizen in question (the 'effective /cityban' should not be subject to /citypardon)

yes I can see how this may lead to some griefing, but if that were to be the case, the Mayor could be removed and replaced by another one

please provide your constructive feedback (positive and negative are welcome)

In last weeks thread I remember TH saying something about some exciting news in the area of viewing email from an outside web site...just wondering if it would be possible (or if anyone else would even be interested) in getting the email system in game either folder or thread based. I know as a crafter its a pain to try and sort through my emails to try and track down one back and forth communication with a customer. I've tried resorting by name but every time I do it the game freezes for a good 2-3 minutes anytime I open the email window or deleate an email (yes, I know, I'm an email packrat and have too many, but its still a problem). Something built in that could let me keep track of emails better would be immensely helpful.

oh, yea, and any ETA on a fix for the maintenance droids?

I know the combat revamp is now being worked on for Publish 10 which is great.

Awhile ago you mentioned doing a bit of a feature on that, can you do that sometime soon? to help us wait

Also it would be nice if sometime when it gets closer to being pused to test you could possibly give a breakdown on whats happening to each profession and combat on a whole.

one last thing:

Do the devs think armor is overpowered now? (i do)

TH I dont know how to quote, sorry but it was stated in the State of the Game letter that in mini publish 8.1 there will be line of sight improvements. Will this also include being able to shoot through hills and mountains and other terrain?

Thanks

TH, there's a lot of concern and chatter lately about the nerfing or obselencense of new content with some of the changes you have already proposed. Can you please address some of them directly as well as the design team's general thought process on these matters?

The two big examples on my mind at the moment:

* Brandy, other brand new foods, and soon to be new and tweaked spices being "broken" or otherwised rendered unnesessary by the combat balance and changes to HAM.

* Recently mentioned smuggler player transportion skill becomming obsolete with the SE and ships for all players.

I know this is a design limitation, but its fast becomming an annoying griefind tool.

My crafter is a covert rebel, I dont mind being scanned and failling but lately I havent been failling scan's just the ST Screaming he is a rebel.

and then WHAM, 2 -3 overt imp players come out running and waist me.

Which is fine I guess, but these same overt imps are simply following this same imp npc , PK'ing everyone it coverts.

I dont play SWG to PVP, if i did, then I would be Overt, I am covert for a reason.

I can understand that the imps are unbalanced (people wise) and need some support, but I think its been done wrong.

Hi TH, I have come up with a new idea that the Chefs and Architects seem to like, and I thought you might like to see, and pass along to the Dev Team. I would like to see 'Restaurants' included in the game, and many have suggested the idea be expanded on, makeing 'crafters workstations' as components of structures, to make current or new player structures more customisable. Please check out these threads, to see what feedback the idea has received thus far. Thanks
