There's acrackdown?

Seriously, I haven't seen anything that would suggest that would suggest an increased Imperial persence anywhere, other than a few teeny-tiny Star Destroyers in orbit. And it's not just because I sit around in my house on Tatooine and twiddle my thumbs....I'm always hopping to planet-to-planet checking harvesters and gathering hides. I've been to Dath, Naboo, Tat, Dant, Corellia, and Endor and haven't seen more then 3 Stormtroopers total since the new publish.

I have a full set of composite armor (sliced), two polearms (sliced), and two crates of spice on me at all times and, so far, I haven't had anImperial sneeze in my direction.

I dunno...maybe the Imperials are keeping me under surveilence and are gathering enough evidence to jump out of the bushes with an AT-AT and go all Rodney King on me but, so far, it's yet to happen.

Not that I'm complaining, I'm just...underwhelmed.

Please take some time to go out there and play the game. Go experience the changes with some solid game play and then let us know what you think!

As a publish theme, did you like it?

Here were the penalty changes for reference:

Some basics on how the Crackdown works:fficeffice" />

  • Random searches will be conducted as part of the Emperor’s Crackdown on rebel activity.
  • Contraband is: Rebel Faction Equipment, Spice, Sliced weapons and armor.
  • Player items are not confiscated.
  • “Crackdowns” occur in the wilderness, “Shakedowns” occur in Planetary Cantinas (not player Cantinas)

If Imperial Search Parties find contraband on your character and you are...

Imperial, the penalty is:

  • Overt Imperial Officers: None. All junior officers will salute their superiors.
  • High Rank Covert: High Ranking officers will be acknowledged and saluted as directed by the Emperor.
  • Low Rank: (Identified as having little or no Faction Points spent on Rank): Low Ranking officers found in possession of contraband must pay tribute to the Emperor. Low ranking Imperial soldiers will be given the choice of sacrificing Faction Points or paying a fine.

Rebels, the penalty is:

  • Overt: Imperial Search party will open fire as per orders of the Emperor.
  • Covert: Covert Rebels will be identified to all surrounding Imperials (Turned Overt)

Neutral, the penalty is:

Imperial Citizens will be warned and lose faction points or be fined.

Smugglers have additional bonuses to escape Imperial Scans:

Novice Smugglers with “underworld” abilities will have a 15% chance to evade contraband searches plus an additional 15% for each skill box and Master Smugglers add another 20% for a total of 95%.

Players in both the wilderness and cantinas may avoid shakedown searches if grouped with smugglers for the same bonuses.

Thanks for getting involved and offering positive, well thought out feedback.

The developer offered me some additional detail:

  • And Neutral caught in the scans pay a fine and if they are unable to afford the fine lose imperial faction.

  • Contraband scanning will also take place in the 3 imperial controlled cities (Mos Espa, Kor Vella, and Kadaara).

  • In order to receive the smuggler bonus from being grouped with the player the smuggler must be within range (35m)

I'm somewhat disappointed. How come Stormtroopers and AT-STs aren't in major cities? There isn't any actualy feelign of imperial presence.

The new loot is cool, so you got that.

Spawn rate on the STs at starports is horrendious. There are no less than 50 outside of Kor'valla on Chilastra now. I had a ping time of over 4k, and a nice framerate of 1 the entire 10min shuttle wait.

As cool as the patch may be...Bestine was sorta a disapointment. It looks the same. I saw 1 small patrol of Troopers. No scanning, etc, etc.

=/

So what is the Imperial rank needed to pass the scans without a problem?

I like what I'm seeing so far.

But, rebels seem to have easy faction points farming now.

Entertainers that have made the mistake of declaring a side, are whining and crying when they are attacked.

For an imp to get this easy faction farm, they have to attack the weaker classes of player characters, and db them. This is really already making many mad and upset. I know they declared, and they deserve to die as such, but it's not making them feel any better.

More troopers and heavy armorment like at-st are needed. An in your face presence.

I do like how the troopers have a sense of humor though

Good job thus far, needs some polish is all.

1) Nerfed by the CU - Annoyed

2) SWG destroyed by the NGE - Pisssed

3) Cancellation to nerf the dev's pay check, priceless!!

Moving contraband = smuggling.

The lack of universal penalties gives Imperials better smuggling skills than Smugglers.

You've read it before, but you've never addressed the concerns after weeks of posting about it. This isn't a mechanics question, this goes straight to the heart of profession identiyt and skillpoint investment. So testing isn't even needed on this - the system is fundamentally flawed because Smuggler abilities - in fact, THE Smuggler skill, which is contraband movement - is now available for Faction Points rather than skill points.

No other profession in SWG has been intentionally imbalanced and sacrificed on the altar of GCW balance. Smugglers are supposed to move contraband better than anyone, but you have reduced them to slicers, spiecrs, and bodyguards.

Any explanation or justification for this radical turn of events? Any way to wiggle out of this nasty precedent you are setting? How will you answer future Imperial claims to be "above the law" and finally implement any actual contraband or smuggling into the game?

"We're dedicating a designer (Green Marine) next week to looking into fixing some of the bigger issues of the smuggler. (Yes, we are also looking at issues with the other professions, the smuggler just seems to be the one needing the most love at this moment)." Q-3PO - September 16, 2003

I'm thinking getting pinched for a bloody factional BACKPACK is ridiculous because it's just for looks, but no one seems to be listening to the Rebel side of things at the moment. Armor and weapons, yes... backpacks? No. So, I wasted 1500 faciton points on that thing just because it looked neat. But, in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing considering that as more things like this patch come up, I'm feeling like I'm wasting actual money on this game.... both of my accounts.

And I STILL say that getting turned OVERT is WRONG because it's forcing PvP on people. Some people went Rebel or Imp just to be able to shoot at *NPC* Stormtroopers/Rebels. There is NO WAY that other PCs should be able to blast you when you're uncovered by NPC unless you shoot first. Then a TEF is perfectly reasonable. Overt? No. NO NO NO.

I have some positive comments about this patch, but they are not appropriate for this thread as they are non "crackhouse" releated. I don't want to get accused of hijacking.

Landspeeders don't seem craftable. I am a Master Artisan, and the only vehicles that currently show up as craftable are speederbikes and swoops.

This is why we need a more populated TC.
