Thread: Should Force Sensitivity be a known path or a mysterious one?

There are many stages in the path to becoming a Jedi...

The first among them is becoming Force Sensitive. Once you become Force Sensitive you can choose to continue on the path to becoming a Jedi or not. The path to becoming a Jedi will be a long and dangerous one.

The question is this:

Should the method of becoming Force Sensitive be a mysterious, unknown mechanic orone that is visible and known to everyone?

Thanks for the feedback...

It should be a known path. But make it hard so not everybody can do it

Well for one thing it should have some kind of plot or story behind it rather than randomly going around killing things in order to fulfill some kind of checklist.

Yes have it be mysterious, but not impossible to find.

Good discussion

The problem with mysterious is that once a couple people figure it out, it will be all over these forums and the internet so there isn't really much use. Sure there will be a few weeks (months) of trying to figure it out, but eventually everyone will know anyway.

I would like to see something that is known, but is also immersive and interesting that would take some time to complete.

By all means mysterious. And difficult. Jedi are a class unto themselves that from all I can remember from the early stages were considered a means of "winning the game." Now for an MMORPG winning isn't supposed to be a focus. And no one wants scores of Jedi roaming about.

Always consider this Devs....the minute that way method of becomming Jedi is discovered, everyone will try to mimic that method. It'll be common knowledge by the end of the next day. Always harken back to ...the holocrons.

As long as it's mysterious difficult you won't have an overload of individuals flocking to it.

I think it should be known, but be very story oriented, and very long and engrossing....something that will make me want to get back in the game as quick as I can to move the storyline forward. Much like a good book or movie does with TENSION and SUSPENSE.

I think it should be dynamic and unique to each character, possibly based on starting profession, race and gender. Keeping in line with that, it should also be a mysterious path with vague hints given, but not so mysterious as to discourage. Remember, people play to have fun, not to get frustrated.

EDIT: It should contain quite a bit of true content as well, not just random "find rare spawn, kill rare spawn." Perhaps even content on the order of as you progress, you learn more about the history of the specific race you've chosen, their role in the Star Wars universe, etc. You could validate this idea with the concept that an understanding of the history of one's people leads to an understanding of the self, and possibly a strengthening of one's connection to the Force.

Just let people know for crying out loud. Stop with the "mystic crapola". Give people their second slot and let them play Jedi if they want to. You've pretty much thrown continuity out the window, and you can see a Jedi in every Starport. Why does everything involving Jedi have to be such a huge pain in the butt? The risk doesn't appear to be worth the reward as it is, and all hiding "the path to spiritual creaminess" is going to do is piss people off. Yeah, I'm one of the pissed off.

Just let people know where they stand. You already had your shot at making it "mysterious" and you blew it. Hologrinding completely borked the game and you admitted as much. Many folks are tired of all the secrecy behind a profession that doesn't seem to be worth the effort anyway.
