When mounts first went in didn't we see this bug?

It wasn't the height of the mount that mattered previously, it was the sitting or kneeling height of the character. Apparently the mounting of a creature constitutes a posture change which the camera follows, and a height change which the camera does not.

Give me a terrible foe and stack the odds against me.
Give me friends and creatures with whom I can share my adventures, my losses and my gains.

Players have two new mounts available to them with Publish 7; Banthas and Cu-Pa’s! fficeffice" />

Creature Handlers, were you able to tame Banthas and Cu-Pa’s?

Players, were you able to ride Banthas and Cu-Pa’s?

Thirds not that great.

But I was wondering if anyone has figuered out if non-chers will be able to ride them. I have wanted a Cu Pa has a mount since day 1!

If I remember correctly, wild Cu Pa's are level 11, one point more than non-CH.. but BE's can make them non-CHable. Same thing with Banthas.

There are non-handler versions of all mount types currently on live. There does seem to still be a problem with spawns of Motley Kaadu and Plodding Falumpasets though, at least on Corbantis. You can still get level 10 Kaadu from Bio-Engineers...don't know if they can provide a Falumpaset/Brackaset model.

So you aren't just stuck with "that chicken".

Whether or not non-handler versions of the new mounts will exist is the big mystery at the moment, along with their speed.

My Master CH has two Cu Pas that are both BE made, one level 17 and one level 19. They both readily trained to mounts like any other pet, and they can both be ridden. However, the first person view is not working right. The first person view drops down to near ground level and all that is seen is parts of the Cu Pa. The third person view seems to work ok. They are cool-looking pets. My MCH will try them out more when the first person view works.

As I understand it, the Be just chooses a skin at the end of making the critter. The species has nothing to do with what ingredients went into making it (though some skins have a minimum level). I have a perfectly good level 7 Bantha I'm looking forward to being able to ride

  • When riding a bantha or cu pa, the camera centers on the mount (instead of on the rider). The older mounts (kaadu, dewback, brackaset, etc) seem to be unaffected. Just the bantha and cu pa.

  • My Bio-Engineered cu pa seemed to be having trouble recovering from being winded. I used /gallopstop to stop him from galloping, then stored him and switched him out for a new mount. For the rest of the play session (45+ minutes) the cu pa never recovered from being winded. Even after recalling and storing him several times, I'd always get the "Your mount is too tired to gallop" message.

  • All pets that have been mounted (kaadu, dewback, brackaset, bantha, cu pa, etc) will not follow their master (this has been an issue on Live for the last few days, too). If they're given the Follow command, they will run to your location... but as soon as they stop moving, they will stop following (even if your character then moves away). Pets that are not mountable are not affected, and mountable pets that have not actually been trained as mounts are not affected.

  • There are no wild banthas or cu pas that are less than CL 11. This means all non-CH cu pa and bantha mounts must be Bio-Engineered. Just today I asked someoneif he'd tried the new mounts, and his first reaction was "No, could you get one for me?" It seems logical that a Creature Handler would be able to, right? Since these are creature mounts, everyone assumes that a Creature Handlercan help them(which is not yet the case).

  • The cu pa riding animation is way too fast when he's swimming. It looks like a DVD or VCR tapeplaying on fast forward. When he's galloping in the water it looks even worse... my character is bouncing back and forth so fast that he's literally in three places on the cu pa's back at once (ala Agent Smith from The Matrix).

  • Banthas are very, very slow when not galloping. I can't see anyone actually using one for anything other than coolness/roleplay factor at this speed. We had a few races in New Unity, and the dewbacks seem slightly faster than the cu pa... and way faster than the bantha (who seems to be standing still by comparison).

I've had a Cu Pa since the very early days of my being a CH and I had held out hope that it would one day be turned into a mount. The cousin of the Taun Taun is a very Star Warsy mount. However, upon logging in this morning and training it as a mount I was severely disappointed.

- The Cu Pa waddles when it runs. I never noticed before but you'll notice it now. If I remember correctly, the Taun Tauns sort of glided across the terrain. If you want a visual element to go along with this description, think of it as trying to ride a walking duck. The movement animation needs to be totally redone because this is the dorkiest looking thing I have ever seen.

- The camera is centered on the chest of the Cu Pa. When you're out in third person mode it's not that noticeable, but once you scroll in to first person it's more than noticeable.

- Vertexton was right about the swimming in his bug report. Looks like the Cu Pa is in fast forward mode.

Trayson is absolutely correct about the cu pa "waddling" as it runs. I'll have to break out my Empire Strikes Back tape to double-check, but I'm sure the tauntauns had a smoother gliding run, as he says. Being bounced left and right in the saddle looks kind of strange.

Just re-watched Empire Strikes Back. A couple of notes:

1) The tauntaun does indeed have a smooth "forwardward/backward" motion as it runs, not the side-to-side waddle we see on the cu pa.

2) Some people may hate me for saying this. But the cu pa needs to vocalize more while idle. A lot more. I know people aren't crazy about the dewbacks and bols doing this, but we really need it on the cu pa. In Empire Strikes Back, the tauntauns never shut up. Even when they're not on camera you can hear them doing their warbling vocalizations in the background. Cu pas in SWG are totally silent unless you dismount and give them the Stay command. They need more idle vocalizations.

Excellent feedback and testing so far. Thank you very much! I will forward the issues on to the artists about the waddling, swimmingand the camera issues.

Has anyone tried turning a 10+ level Bantha or Cu Pa into a CH trainer to see if you get a level 10 version put into you datapad like you can do with current mounts?

Were there new lower end versions of Cu Pas and Banthas put into the game to find and tame, like Lesser Plains Bols, Lesser Dewbacks, and Lowlands Brackasets were put into the game to be mountable by non-CHs?

Is it possible for an occassional TC player to aquire one of these new mounts from a vender, like we could do with the original mounts and vehicles so we can test them?

I finally have some money there, so I could probably buy one, but many others are not in my position.

Is it useful to test a high volume of mounts, or is a limited number of testers, those who can afford to buy mounts and look for a CH who has one ready or who can wait a week for a new baby to grow up enough to be mountable?

by the way, I'm really excited to see these in the game.

Gonna log in to TC today and hope to come accross some, even just to see, if that's all I can do.
