With Secrets of the Jedi, Jedi Knights can advance into a high end PvP

FRS Jedi gain experience by killing players from the opposing faction. The amount of experience gained is based on the power level of the target (non-Jedi aren’t worth as much as Jedi). FRS Jedi loose experience by being killed by players from the other faction. The more powerful the Jedi is in relation to the player that made the kill, the more experience is lost.

  • How easy/difficult is it to gain and loseFR experience?

  • Can you maintain the experience that you earn, or is it lost too quickly in PvP?

  • Are you able to make enough to qualify a new rank?

  • Gaining and Loosing FRS Ranks

  • Earning and holding Ranks

  • Do the daily experience costs and costs for missing a vote seem reasonable? (Keep in mind that TC is running the maintenance cycle at an accelerated rate. The true value is once per day.)

  • If you lose too much experience, you lose a rank. Do the thresholds feel okay?

  • Is the demotion setting up everything properly (your skills are correct, the enclave shows you at the proper rank)? Does the demotion work even if you aren’t on-line?

Testing Tip: Test this out by doing battle on a server different from the where the Enclave exists. It is possible that certain problems could arise only if the player is not on the same server as the Enclave.

FRS Advancement Mechanics

  • What are your experiences with thepromotion/demotion systems?

  • Are you getting the skills that you should get?

  • Is the data on your character staying in sync with theEnclave data (the rank you have as shown by your FR skill tree should equate to your position as displayed with /showCouncilRank).

  • Is thepetition/voting/acceptance logic is working as intended? (Have fun andtry to do wacky things to break it...)

  • Check out the Dark Jedi challenge system. Are you getting the correct TEFs? Can you find any way to “cheat” in order to give yourself an unfair advantage or to avoid the battle.

  • Do the challenge acceptance requirements seem reasonable?

would be great if we could get alot more people into the FRS. Alot of people had the regeneration bug for the last 5 days and need to get their trials done now that its fixed. Some QA guys in Theed would be great.

Well I am on tc2 , Rank 7 Jedi Counsler, while I had enough xp to gain the next lvl multiple times I attempted to get the empty seat at rank 8, i was always defeated by people, who had friends higher up, which kept me from advancing my char.

My personal opinon is that no other player should have direct control over another players advancement. Also council members have the right to demote others, this is just leading to a bunch of problems. I had already decided not to take my jedi knight, because the trials are not worth it, jedi should have an instanced cave that they must do alone, not take a group to go camp heavily camped spots or hope they get to a spawn that rarley spawns first.

Had I been going for knight the FRS would have discouraged me away. People that I know and myself found it more frusterating, then anything. I keep hoping jedi will become fun, starting to look like that wont happen.

Go ahead and flame me.

There isnt enough slots on council for everyone to test it.

Posted some of this elsewhere but may as well add it here:

Master healer/enhancer is not viable for the FRS. I simply cannot earn Force Rank Experience due to the inability to PvP against master defender/saber/misc templates. This particular build is weak for PvP and will never be chosen by anyone wanting to join the FRS system.

As to the 'bonuses' of being ranked, I see only a marginal improvement to force powers as the bonus. As a master healer/enhancer, it means little that I can heal myself slightly more efficiently, or that my force pool is slightly larger, if I still can't damage opponents.

In terms of the process of going up and down the ranks, the only area I have concerns with is the notion of higher level jedi having the ability to 'demote' others in the light jedi voting system. While it's an interesting idea, the potential for using it to grief others is very high.

Also, the process of when to vote and what levels you can vote for is still unclear. On TC2 I still get notices saying I failed to vote when I voted in the only rank level I appear to be able to vote on. Vote times need to be clear (I still haven't figured out how you can determine how long to the next vote), and what you are able to vote for needs to be obvious (right now it's just an asterisk next a rank in the list... not sure that's entirely clear, since I get an asterisk next to levels below my own but get emails saying I failed to vote for my level).

Voting in the light Jedi council...it's gonna be like high-school. If I ever decide to partake in the miserable excuse for a Jedi Knight Trial that's being put in I'll probably go Dark Jedi, even though I never wanted to, because I'm not going to bother trying to get membership into the good ole boys club that will be the Council.

I must say that it is fun that the counsil have some powers over the jedi community...

Alltho this is allso negative... the day when a "10 year old" comes to the throne everyone who is not whiping his shoes or cooking him dinner will be forced to stay at low ranks...

(No offence against the 10 year olds playing this... ok some then..)

Alltho in order to get the Enclaves to work it is built on that every ranked member should be able to co-operate with the rest of the enclave... even tho they might encounter eachother in a duel once and a while..

Maybe if the counsil got to vote for a members demotion.. Im not informed how many seats there is in the counsil but say it has 10 high counsil then they could vote about it... 7 votes for demoting someone = demotion of the jedi...

After all someone must allways be the leader or everyone will turn rouge.

So far it appears promotion doesnt work on TC2... Along with challenges.. This could be a HUGE issue. But hoping for a fix tomorrow =)

One problem I can forsee is the fact that if rank 1 becomes filled but there are several slots open ahead of it, even if the people behind those in rank 1 have enough xp, they can advance. An example:

Rank 1 beomces full and every person in that rank is just able to keep up with the xp costs so it takes them a long time to get up to the next rank. Meanwhile, a person behind them already has enough for, say, rank 4. He would have to sit there at rank 0 while those at rank 1 hold things up.

I propose that Rank 0 and Sentinels can be promoted anywhere within the Sentinel Tree. So a Rank 0 can bypass rank 1 if he has enough xp and go directly to rank 2, 3 or 4 if there is room. However you cannot jump from rank 2 to rank 5 (consular). You would need to acheive rank 4 first. And then do the same for the Consular and Arbiter trees.

This is a copy of a post I made on the Jedi forum yesterday:

---------------

FSR XP is horribly low

I just participated in a QA test for FSR XP. It basically degraded in a BH and imperial gank fest, but you could still see how much XP you gain for a kill.

Defeating a non FS person can grant you up to about 200 XP, my highest Jedi killwas about 400 XP.

The XP you gain is tied to the amount of damage you do and on TC, as well as on live servers you will almost always share a kill with someone else, so you can't really expect any higher numbers. Quite contrary, if you only get 1 or 2 hits in on a kill, you get maybe 10 points and you wont get any more XP from killing him in the next several hours.

In this test I killed about 10 BH's and 4 or 5 Jedi and gained not even 3000 XP. Considering on live I will kill more non FS people and barely any Jedi I would estimate that I can make about 5000 XP per day if I invest some hours.

To attain the rank of council leader I need almost 1.5 million XP.Doing the math with my numbersI am looking at 300 days minimum to attain the rank. That is playing every day and I have not counted the XP you loseevery dayfor being part of the council.

I thought becoming a knight would be our reward, butI am looking at an even longer grind thanI needed for the PvE part and additionally I am gated by the number of overt players I find.

If the developers don't have a proper rebalance for this then a council leader will be indeed rare. I say its impossible to attain.

---------------

I want the participation in the ranking system to be a reward for all the work and hours I invested, but as it looks like its just an even worse grind then what I had to endure during the PvE part.

In an earlier post TH said they would consider current maxed guardians to be effectively Jedi Masters in the new system. I can only attain that title with the 9th rank and that is months of PvP grinding away...

I agree with wave2571 ALL 4444 guardians were told in the next patch youll be considered masters becuse if SOE havdnt scrwed up ap well you would be a master, so no now they are domoted to knight, but no wait they arnt knights they still have to go through those long time consuming CRAP of a trialkill X of Y isnt a trial for fun its a trial of patience, one which many jedi players are long beyond thier limits of. YES the new system rocks and the skilsl are great, but jedi vs jedi fighting is a jokeif you are both Master def/master saber it take near20 or more minutes for one to even START taking damage when buffed can take even longer. That is one of the major things that MUST be fixed before this is released live. as for the FRS system its nice its neat, its everything the devs promised SWG would never be, hmm what was that statement Haden made awhile back? No player will EVER be forced to PVP to play his classs to its max ability, hmm wait SWEET i got jedi but no to master it I am FORCED to PVP great yet another let down. Forced pvp wouldnt be that bad if this was added postpublish11 the combat rebalance atm PVP in SWG is just a big long running joke more like riflemen/CM wars then Starwars.
