Thread: Desired Rewards

To further develop my idea of special skills being rewarded I shall go into it a little further...

Musician: Depending on what was accomplished is the factor in what the song is as a reward. Say it is a quest and it has something to do with the dark side of the force(for example)... the new song could have a haunting atmosphere to it or sound mysterious. And for aiding someone good you could learn a uplifting happy song as a reward. Perhaps different musician titles can go along with these?

Dancer: Similar only with dancing... learn new dance moves. Aid a bad guy get a dark mysterious summoning dance... and aid a good guy and get a ... upbeat good times dance. Possible titles too prehaps?

Image Design: Similar to my other concepts. A reward for helping a bad guy ... scary, dark, mysterious looks available to customize...Aid a good guy... have more good guy looks.

Now for armor and clothing designers... well a reward for the armor makers can be schematics of course... to make armor based on what kind of quest you did... could use the good guy/bad guy example again in that case for looks. This goes for clothing as well... different looks for what kind of quest you did.

Now combat abilities... well perhaps each combat ability can have a skill as a reward based on what kind of quest they did... evil or good attacks or moves? Ancient or mysterious moves or attacks?

Creature handlers ... well based on the quest they did they can learnspecial commands for their pets possibly?

Droid Engineers... well I was never a droid engineer but by the looks of them they need all the help they can get... Maybe quests based on whether it is good or evil can determin a schematic they can use that will make the droid have some type of good or evil aspects? Or possibly some ancient secret weapon? Or any secret weapon for that matter?

For those who make weapons they could have a similar outcome as droid engineers possibly?

Chefs? Schematics for more food? Unique to the quest they completed of course...

Politicians? Abilities granted to fit that of which is awarded from the quest they completed?

I might have left someone out ... The point being when summed up would be...different quest awards that award schematics or skills to every class. Whether it determins which classes the person doing the quest has to award them with the correct skills or just class specific quests... I think this could be a great way to grow some identity through accomplishments.

And possibly even rare ... difficult NPCs could have a schematic or a skill as a reward when you kill them... skill coming in the form of a scroll or something.

Give some unusual loot like those Krayt Skulls!!!! More trophies! Just like items you need to deliver to other NPCs...give those as rewards... Pretty Petrified Avian eggs... Bantha Statues, AT-ST Helmet...

I agree that the "uber" armor or weapons are out of line for rewards, but the concept of limited use items has some merit.

Personally, I think that the "badge" recognition is a much better idea for a reward. "Badges" give some (limited) indication of how involved people are in the roleplaying aspect of the game.

Being a 'casual' player, I haven't had the opportunity to go after the "big" quest badges, but what few I do have are a little reminder that: "Yes...I have accomplished something."Simply put, it seems much better to have something permanent that will always be a part of the character, as opposed to having some piece of technology or (worse yet) more "useless" items taking up room in my inventory.

As another plus, I think it's an idea that the Developers could have some fun with..... Coming up with some various 'tag lines' like we're used to from the movies.....

Han Solo would be just another smuggler if it wasn't for the "Kessel Run."

Or how many of us are "a little short for a Stormtrooper."

Or how many of you want to go ".. pick up some power converters!"

I guess it's just personal need to inject a bit of humor into a topic that seems to be getting overly dramatic.

Reasonable rewards would be something like this:

Get a reasonably hard quest to get the schematics for a peice of armor (or weapon). Then, have all of the components be special pieces that must ALSO be quested for. So for a chestpeice there needs to be 5 different items that all need to be quested individually for.

Also to construct the chestpiece, you will need to have a master armorsmith put all the pieces together for you. The chestpeice itself should in my opinion be quite superior to any other chestpiece in the game. Especially since I had to do 6+ quests just to get all the pieces together.

They should have quests like this for all types of armor and weapons. All the items created using this quest system should be superior to any of the items regularly made by armorsmith/weaponsmith (you will need a masteramor/weaponsmith anyway).

I would be willing to spend the time to do all those quests if I knew I would get something better than what I can just buy from any local vendor.

IU Would be all about "Issuing" a Faction Banner (Like those at Mission terminals and Bases) for completing a faction theme park for "Going above and beyound the call of duty for[Faction Diety] and displaying true commitment to the cause."
Once displayed in the House it would Auto-ban opposing faction members, like a glyph of warding..

Make it a reward for a one time Mission, maybe throw in a Badge with it so that the Forums and Bazaar doesnt get swarmed with em.

Ive been up all Night and I know this idea would be a Pain to code and Implement... but anyways... sounds cool to me even without the auto-Ban.....

Someone mentioned that schematics would only benefit crafters but that crafters wouldn't be doing incredibly hard missions. This is nonsense. Of course crafters won't be doing super-hard missions, but fighters will (like myself) and then selling the schematics to the highest bidder.

Ueber schematics is a great idea, and it just might actually envigorate the whole online auction concept that nobody is utilizing that's built into the bazaar. On a completely different track, the bizaar maximum would definitely need to exceed 3000 for this to work, at least for schematics (I don't know if auctions as opposed to instant sales exceed this already or not).

Anyway, ueber schemeatics and decorations would totally motivate me to go on ultra-hard quests. So would huge gobs of fp, but that could possibly unbalance other areas... I can't see how just yet, but maybe it could. Maybe a faction could award a really expensive item, like a big base or something for free. This might leave the neutral players out, and that sucks, but... it would be neat if some of the faction-oriented quests did things like that. I mean, at least a large tower turret or a forward outpost or something. ATST? Soldiers? whatever...

Skill tapes actually dropping...to put in sockets in clothing...would make me, as a master tailor, very happy indeed.

I make dozens and dozens of socketed clothes but you would be suprised how many customers don't know what they are for.

Id love to sell skill taped clothes as an addition to my bioenhanced clothes but the only tape iv actually seen drop since ivstarted playing (about3 months)was a +12repair tape after killing hundreds and hundreds of humanoids.

or

How about a crate of milk or a dozen clutches of the same stackable egg?

or

Black killer mutant squirrels from escaped mutant facilities as pets

It would be fun to have a new item drop that cannot be crafted yet.... armor... weapon... etc..... Let some get out into the economy and then either start dropping the schematic a month later or just add it into a patch so the crafters can make even better versions.

It would drive up the hype for an item and make it something worth looking for while doing combat, and giving the crafters schematics for better versions would drive up their sales. I know if i saw someone running around with a Mandalorian helmet, Id go looking for one.

Once the crafting market got hold of it, we would all end up buying the better version, while searching for the next best thing to drop and the cycle could repeat.

Ideas:

Crafting stations and tools with skill mods

Unique clothing schematics or items

Good resources in decent quantities

Unique Schematics

More enhancement options for crafting components (possible schematic for Bio-engineers to make some)

MILK MILK MILK in decent quantities

Deeds to houses with unique look/floorplans

Artwork for our houses

Disks with star wars lore-history (like the rebel transmissions)

Weapons components with unique looks and decent stats

Datapad modules (to store rarely used waypoints to free up some datapad space)

Skill tapes

Quests that start out by having you gather specific resources or earn them and then providing you with the schematic for a unique item that you can craft (1 shot deal for crafters)

New schematics via quest like for the RIS armor, but for the other crafting classes

Unique Pets via quest (for CH or BE)

Unique Mounts via quest (for CH and non-CH)

I think some NPC's dropping armor that looks good, decorative but crappy stats armor. Maybe some of those green should pads the chunker creeps wear sometimes.

I would like to see a epic quest that would grant you a added 1-10 skill points at the end. This might just be the deciding factor for some one to be able to spend that last skill point on one more skill.

What are the coolest rewards you've seen in game? Like for instance where did you get the speaker from?

Just to try to stand out in all the posts...

CREDITS!!!!

These don't hurt crafters one bit. I understand the lack of loot for doing npc quests, but they should be more rewarding than the mission terminals. As stands now, when you do npc missions you get a piece of junk and 50 credits. You do a terminal mission, you get 500 or so credits if you are new or several thousand if you have a lot of combat skills.

The small credit rewards mixed with the junk makes it fell like you are being punished for trying to do the content.
