Its good to get at these boards at lasst!! Thanks for opening them up - i could neever work out the log-in before!!


Anyway, The 15 second call seems to work perfectly with everything that i have tried. And it seems to make hunting etc much smoother as there is no need to camp as often.


the only problem is that i miss camping!! I miss the fire on face whilst friends dance and play slitheron between rancor lairs! I mean obviouisly we still camp every now and then (when the medic run out of mind!) But it has removed the camping necessity making a bit less frequent (i'm glad i got IV survival before the patch!!)


Anyway on the whole it seems to have speeded up hunting, but has removed some of the spirit of group hunting!

This has been working like a charm for me.I still have intermittant problems with Auto-storing, so this has really done the trick.

To touch on what uses the Ranger profession still has, camps out in the field are still needed for healing the group. A place everyone can go to get their huge wounds healed up without having to go to town. Rangers can track creatures. This is a feature that doesn't really have as much use as it could have, but it's useful when the group uses it. Ranger has the camo ability which again doesn't have the uses that could be in game, but players who utilize it can make some use of it. The Ranger camps are better than any regular scout camps. The big ones even have crafting stations so groups can sit around crafting while camping if they need a reason to sit out in the wild besides saying they want to and pop a tent.


Tents are still needed or has uses in the game. There are many more things that the DEVs could make use of them for. It would be nice if these ideas were listened to by SWG staff. Changing the creature/vehicle camp use is not the way to go. Anyone can and did do as I have done. All it requires is take up scout yourself and use the stupid tent just to do what you have to do. There's still no "hiring out" or whatever of scouts or rangers from anywhere I saw. Maybe friends made use of what you were as a profession, but I can bet you'll fit in still. This auto storing alone is reason enough to not put it back. But the main thing to not put it back for, this IS A GAME and FUN should be the most important thing. I know I see the creature handlers and everyone with a vehicle having more fun with the new deploy feature.

DEV's PLEASE TAKE THIS ONBOARD


I'v read this whole thread this-morning, and here are my thoughs and summaries of everything. I think this change is great but a few tweaks to the scout/Ranger proffesion need to be implimented.


Ok........


1st Point - THIS WILL effect the economy, and increased resource costs are the last thing that we need. Yes Rangers and true Scouts will have a better market, but they are obviusly going to have to charge more to keep up with the demand! I think the best way to get round this will be to DOUBLE or at least seriously increase the +'s to Harvesting Abilities as you go up the scout/Ranger tree's. This will assist the economies which are in a lot of trouble atm, and also give people a good incentive to keep their sout skills as they can potentially make twice the money they did before for no effort - this will make people drop the extortionate prices! It will give rangers and scouts more time to collect a variety of resources rather than just focusing on the highest earning hides/meats.


2nd - although this change is the best new 80% of the population has had since launch - THIS IS STILL A SCOUT NERF, although it could be turned round into a beautiful (and simple) re-vamp very easily. Not only should we double extraction rates on animal we should think of other ways to incorporate the scouts and rangers into the global economy. Star'Li had a great idea when he said we "Everyone should be able to place camps" who will complain if everyone cam place camps? No-One. And also Scouts now have another re-newable income source. People still use camps, just for different reason.


3rd - As Gondolin has said Lets let Ranger camps stay erected through combat - they look pretty perminant to me! How cool would it be if you set out on a big game hunt with a ranger leader who sets up a base camp 100m from the mark on arrival. Everyone would know where the re-group/heal point is and it will also add another much needed element of realism to group hunting.


4th - If your going to leave camps in the game then please please make them work properly. They are supposed to and should repel creatures in the wild. As a soloing player, it would be nice to know that i can go away for dinner and leave my charecter in a a camp on Dathomir knowing he would be safe from the over curious wildlife. Perhaps the radius of protection could increase with the quality of the camp. AS i said before removing the requirment for camp's form the group hunt has speeded hunting up, but it has removed some of the social fun from the hunt!


5th - TRAPPING SUX - Please fix these things they are useless to anyone hunting something harder than a Dewback! They need to be upgraded and they would be a useful little ally!


6th - If your going to Nerf camps so hard PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reduce the number of SP required to LVL in this SKill.

This change was great, but could turn into an AMAZING proffesion re-vamp with a few simle change. I love the idea of a scout proffesion, but it just needs a little tweaking!

Unless you have a medic with a med droid. and a Med droid gives beter pluses to healing.

Rangers could never truely Track Creatures mind you this was promised to us in AUGUST of last year. We Area track whicth gives a Vague idea of whats been spawned within a 500m radius. but due to lag issues there are lessstatic spawns, and then theres speeders. Speeders have made area track usless mostly because creatures will spawn as you travel and you can cover more ground easyer on a speeder looking around then having to stop and scan (areatrack) every five minutes camo is a waist as well it breaks as frequently as maskscent and the bigest reason for it was to move on foot with a group w/o argos. Speeders defeat this purpuse. and maskscent doesn't reqiure making limited use kits so most rangers don't waist there time with this.

Ranger camp vs. droid. Ranger camps need to be built and put up by a ranger/ Droids can be used by any class. ranger camp craft stations not only have no rating but there is no way of making them better or worse/ droid crafting stations not only can be built with higher ratings then camp craft stations but they can be used to store goods and can be re-deployed and aren't limited by how close you are to lairs ofr buildings. camps truley have NO PURPOSE anymore

First and formost you need to know that using camps for calling vechicals has never been the Issue. The Issue for Rangers is the fact that in AUGUST we got a list of changes promised to our class to make us something better then glorified Scouts, only 2 fixes out of the many ever made it into game and not only did they make those changes obsolete but now they took the only tree that had any use to us and made it useless. you speek about this being a game and suppost to be fun but the fact isONE PERSONSFUN SHOULD NEVER BE AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS! there where ways to settle the auto storing without making tents useless. For one they could have made tentsuseable (not buildable mind you)for everyone, wouldn't you think haveing everyone cappable of building camps is better then making them purposless. Or at the very least they could have made it so only vehicals could be called w/o tents vehicals were the problem not the other pets. Instead they stepped on the Rangers and Scouts to make everyone else happy. And now they basically have said the won't do anything for the Rangers that have been in limbo since AUGUST til at least after Jedi get a two months of Re-Vamp. FRIGG'N jedi wern't even in game when rangers were promied fixes and now they take prefrence.


It's just plain B/S

I won't argue that it's a benefit, but don't mention tracking skills until you've tried it. That's just a reminder that I might as well drop all my ranger skills because it's not worth the points.
