I don't know if this has been brought up before (so i haven't delved too deeply into related postings), but the way the Merchant and Politician trees are structured really grates on my nerves.

I feel that these two trees should be outside of the normal alotment of skill points, so that players don't have to worry about how to alocate their precious skill points. For example, I would still need to gain xp to move up in those trees, but it wouldn't cost me anything to do so. Perhaps an "entrance fee" similiar to Politician, where you have to spend 500 Apprentice points, but other then that it should be pursuable by everyone.

I believe RL examples serve best here in that we all know people (or have heard of people) who are able to have their respected skills in RL (such as doctors, engineers, etc) who also manage to have active businesses, or be active politicians, or both. I think this setup would serve SWG world well in letting people pursure their businesses or political skills without having to worry about sacrificing their hard work in other areas (and we all know that having these skills does not affect game balance in any way, so that arguement is out the window).

The Business line in artisian could then be substituted with a line that takes you onto something else, say ship building for example.

Just my 2 creds.

TH, I have what I believe to be a great idea for merchants and vendors.

Make it so you can view everyones items listed on any vendor. Sort of like it is now, when you go to a vendor, you have the options to broaden your serch criteria; like City, Planet, Galaxy.

Add another tab called Player Merchants. This way, you can get a more detailed list of whats availible from everyonewithout actually having to visit there vendor(s) (in my opionion, traveling/searching from vendor to vendor is a pain). Of course you would still need to go to their vendor in order to retrieve the item, but this will make the vendors more useful and help merchants sell items accross the galaxy. This would also help stop spammin.

The biggest benefit here, is that you can do all your shopping from one place and find competitve prices. This would give merchants a broader market to.

I just hit a bunch of buttons and hope everything works out.

Can we ever expect to see seasons change on the planet? I love that Asherons call actually changed their backgrounds and had snow for wintertime, and a fall looks and such.

I woulda thought a more advanced system was geared for it, but other than rain, nothing changes

I am a TKM. I've been one for months. However, I feel underpowered (pvp wise). TKAs are very much like any other melee profession, as we should be since we spend the same amount of skill points as any othermelee profession. However, in the Star Wars universe, a TKA is more than just another melee profession. It would have been nice if TKA was an unlockable profession for any melee master be it unarmed, fencer, swordman or pikers. I feel the same way about BHs being an unlockable profession for the range masters. No, "you are sooo overpowered" and consequent nerfs. I would nothave had any problem with spending the extra skill points to acquire TKM. At least we wouldof hada true nemisis, dark jedi. Dangerous to any jedi, except a master who had true skill. Devastating to any lesser combat profession. Forced to dedicate allour skill points for mastering TKM. The lesser professions would be used as a stepping stone to a total combat character or as a complement to a crafter, entertainer or medic profession.

The TKA path would of forced the willing melee masters to undergo an epic quest that required us to show merit and gather pieces of a puzzle that once whole would have given the way to a TKA trainer. We would have to relinquish our VKs, our swords and our polearms, leaving them behind forever. Once well trained and ready, we would hunt those who used the force as a tool of evil. Any newly trained jedi would fears us and any dark jedi master would know that brute force (spamming)could not be used on us and any victory would be hard fought. However, we wouldunderstand a confrontation with a dark jedi master would likely mean our demise, if thejedi masterwas wisein the ways of combat. Even fedgling jedi were dangerous if we were not carefulor overconfident and they were wise beyond thier skills in the force.

We would have the same constraint of any force user. Open use of our skills would place a bounty upon us and placing us before our equals, the bounty hunters, who were ranged masters who under went an epic quest to become the most feared range profession in SWG. What specials we had, they hadspecials to counter it and vice versa. A novice TKA or BH would be too underpowered and too unskilled to handle a master of the opposing profession. However, when two wiley and combat hardened masters entered intocombat a gruesome battle would ensue, imposing massive damage on each other. The victor so weaken that a chef with a ginsu knife and a shot of vassarian brandywould mean death.

But oh well, we are just another melee profession and if we confronted a dark jedi we would get our arses handed to us, nine times out ten, probably ten out of ten once the revamp comes.

Okay to dream though....hmmmmm......sigh....... Man it would have been nice. Personally i wish thier was a push for more unlockable professions

also what about skill cost reductions for mastering skills of similar professions types. example:a master brawler would would get a decrease in skill point costs in training any of the4 elite melee professions, thereby allowing them to truly be a master of melee combat. and likewise for master marksman. and by doing so players can gain new titles or roles in the glactic cival war. like rebal soldier, (skilled at all forms of ranged combat) or maybe even create a new hybrid professon like master sodier, (must have master brawler and master marksman ) and allow players to further there combat knowledge and abilities by training up some of the othere elite combat professions and in doing so filing certain role with there military. ie sniper, support, or close quarters melee combat, ??? just a thought!

TH,

Will we hear any news of a Hutt Faction soon or at all? Any hints at this coming in the GCW Publish?

There have been serveral hints at this (Hutt missions for Neutral Corvette, and the mention of Hutt Fighters in the SE).

Please, a comment?

I saw some rumblings of a Hutt Fighter in SE. Maybe this will be tied to Hutt faction somehow.

THUNDERHEART,

I thought about what i think would be a great addition to this game, i think something we are missing out on which would be alot of fun, is WATER stuff. I think swimming would be a great addition, and i mean swimming underwater. it would be great going to naboo and actually swimming below and seeing the gungan city. artisans can create personal air tanks that last like an hour. eventually add submarine type ships. even add dungeons underwater... people might say well how can a melee person fight underwater. well have doctors or whoever, be able to give you a a buff that puts a force field around you in the water, which makes you able to move smoothly. and if your fighting a beast in the water and take to much damage, the bubble pops and you move slowly. and if you run out of air you start to drown...i think adding something like this would give a whole new meaning and fun to this game...

Here's an idea that I have been thinking about for a long time, and maybe someone has already mentioned it....dunno, ..anyway..How about getting rid of players showing up on radar? Let radar show creatures, and NPC's, but not other players. This change would bring a whole new concept into the game, like sneaking around in the forests of Endor, stalking another player, ..and pvp/team battles in cities, where you could hide behind buildings, duck into a doorway, ambush , etc...it would be great. Also imagine massing a war party , and sneaking up on an enemy fortification under the cover of darkness, or having to post guards and patrols to watch an area for enemys, and trying to sneak past those patrols to form a covert attack on a base. I think more people would participate in being declared and combat ready if they knew they were'nt a big RED dot on the enemy's radar...imagine cresting a hill and running right into an enemy war party!....little more realism than a radar. Anyway, that's an idea that I think would really spice up the game and make it more fun...you could move around in public declared a little easier if you weren't worried about ever super TKA Pvp expert sprinting to your location to DB you the second you show up on thier radar. The tactic of stealth would really come into play if this was implemented....and the chance of escape in a no-win pvp situation would be cool.

Not sure if anyone has thrown this out there yet, but how about a way to mass-discount items on vendors? For instance:

1. A new selection called "Discounts" is added to the radial menu of the vendor.

2. The first question it asks is What would you like to discount? I can choose one at a time, either My guild, Rebellion members, Imperial members, or a specific player. Ex: I choose Rebellion members.

3. Next question: How much would you like to discount? If it's easier to put standard answers in a radio-button format, you could go in 10% increments. Ex: I choose 20%.

4. Whensomeonecomes to browse my vendor, the game does a check on my vendor's discount flags. It sees that I offer all members of the Rebellion a 20% discount. It then runs a check against the faction of the person browsing, and shows the pricing accordingly, transparent to the vendor. Ex: A Rebel browses my vendor. During the vendor initialization period, the games checks for active vendor flags/variables, and faction, name, and guild checksare run on the player. The code sees the player is a Rebel, but the guild and name checks fail, so it automaticallyadjusts all item costs to 80% of what I originally specified, and shows the prices to the customer at the 20% discount, e.g. 5000 credit items list for 4000 credits, and so on. The customer would not know he/she is getting a discount unless I chose to advertise it in a different manner. If an Imperial browses my vendor, the check fails and the customer sees the prices as I originally input them, again not knowing that it was a vendor hired by a Rebel unless I chose to advertise it another way (screaming outside Coronet, for instance).

Ideally, the merchant would be able to offer discounts that overlap each other (not compounded). For example, I could set guild discounts to 30%, Rebel discounts to 10%, and discounts to Fred (or some other person) to 50% by using the radial three times. The discounts would not compound, so if Fred was a Rebel member of my guild, he would get 50% off, not 90%.

Seems like this would involve merchants a bit in the GCW by allowing factional discounts, and allow for people to give guild discounts or individual discounts without having to bank-tip a discount back or price things. Eventually, repercussions could be coded in for vendors who are somehow discovered as being Rebel sympathizers, maybe putting a player bounty on the merchant, or flagging the vendor as red/blue on radar according to faction, or what have you. It also seems the coding for this would be minimal, as it's all flag and variable checking - no new art (except for the new radial menu addition), no new game systems, limited interdev with other game systems (again just the flag/variable checks against the player info).

.... YEAH NOT ONLY ON PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE( I MEAN FIGHTING, HEALING, ETC)

I KNOW IT WOULD BE HUGE REDESIGN OF GAME MECHANICS.... BUT.. WELL NO MORE EXPLOIT ABOUT MASTERING PROF...

I SAW THIS IN EVE-ONLINE .. AND I THINK ITS GREAT IDEA OF GUYS FROM CCP....

For example... if you want to become novice CH you have to find some books.. then trian this.. which could make about 1 day... then you have to tame specific amount of animals and then find or buy next book about next box in your skill tree you wanna train and again ... it takes for example 2 or 3 days... and so...

Ithink that actual idea is kinda freaky.. i see people that can master for example marksman in 4 hours...isnt it stupid...

Pleasewrite your opinions...

YEAH im prepared forbad words...

a thought on immersion...

One idea that I think could really improve the feel of the game, would be the inclussion of some npc voices.
In a perfect world, all npc missions would be given verbally as well as the current text. However, a much simpler sollution might be a few good quotes, perhaps triggered by player proximity similar to vendor welcome messages. So for example, when you approach Lord Vader, or Han Solo, play back say one of 3 random quotes from the movies.
As it is.. playing through the themeparks is rather stale, I played through all 3 primary themeparks twice, and sadly, they just aren't as fun as they could be, but I think this could be a relatively simple step in making the game infinitely more rewarding.

What do you think?

i was just wondering if there is any intenetion to include cybernetics, such as Lobot has?

these could be a combination of DE and Doc manufactured items, or poss a new proff of cyberneticist( of doc/surgeon and DE)

they could include things such as combat enhancements ( better to hit ) or bounuses to data storage , there are other thing that could be done(possible ID cyber enhancements for ents or built in ent packages for those who dont want a ent r2)
