Thread: Weekly Rountdable Discussion (Week Ending 1-25-04)
Thunderheart: Are you aware that your Jedi Correspondent is posting information on how to afk/macro a static loot spawn?
1. Why are there static loot spawns at all? Nice idea... not.
2. Why do you think that someone who would exploit this "system" is worthy of being a correspondent?
3. What are you going to do about it?
I gather you're probably knee deep in things that need looking, etc.
However, i have some small ones that really do need to get fixed....
Twi'lek Males and their headgear.
We still get the big white blad patch if we put on any othr headwear other than the Grand Headpiece. Would be nice to get this fixed, since female Twi'lek can wear all the headgear fine without any graphical bug, but we get a giant white patch where our skin once was.
Thanks for reading.
Droid Handler is the lamest idea to come out of the devs in quiteawhile. Droids are programmed to do what you tell them. Anyone can use a droid to do anything it was programmed to do. If I can make a droid and program it to follow simple commands, can I not give it hose same commands?
DROIDS ARE NOT ANIMALS that need to be TAMED.
The only difference between what a DE anda non-DE can do is maintain the droid and deal with its complex systems during repairs and maintenance. If I built it, I can certainly keep it running, right? Geeze, when will the devs start listening to the players? Maybe when we've all switched to Dragon empires and City of Heroes ![]()
That's how it works? A Bio-Engineer makes 'em and a Creature Handler uses them...
I see. Well, creating a Droid Handler profession to be fair to the Bio-Engineers is ridiculous!
Let's look at this with common sense shall we?
Animals are wild creatures which must be tamed (yes, and that much appears to be working in SWG).
Droids on the otherhand, as we all know, are programmed to OBEY. You won't see a SONY SDR-4x robot NOT obey that 5 year old child and attack them (ok, it's sony, so maybe you will.) ED-209 specifically followed strict protocol.
Droidswill OBEY what every they are told no matter who presses the enter key - you won't see a county zoo Lion obey that way.
I posted this in my Galaxy Forum, and I dont know if it has been hashed out here, but here goes...
I don't know how many of you read the Dev Tracker, but am I the only one who finds it highly annoying that this Dev whom we have never met writes like 15 posts on a Sunday before a holiday rehashing the tons of things that TH has already been over?
Ummm... Like nice to meet you... Who are you? What do you do at SOE? What function do you play in the making of SWG? Why are you asking questions that if you looked a bit in the easily defined sticky threads in almost every profession you could answer them all yourself?
C'mon Thunderheart! This is YOUR job to filter this to him, isn't it? I like TH, I think he listens, and that he takes our needs to heart, this is bad PR on SOE's front from my perspective... Just wondering what the masses think.
Just wondering if any of you feel the same as me... I usually can stay positive, but this is really annoying. I am all for devs listening to us, believe me I am, but I feel like a lot of the headway we are making having TH on our side is for naught when I see things like this....

Uhm... personally, I thought his sig answered a lot of those questions:
Runesabre
Lead Designer
Star Wars Galaxies
In place of makeing more Content for the old profession they creating new professions. And again we have one with 17 Skill-Boxes where the Devs don't known what for abbilities and commands to put in this Boxes.
And again we'll pay some Fees while we skilling this new prof.
This idea may have been covered already, if I am repeating someone else I am sorry. But for the new combat droids, would it not be better to add a droid handling mod to all elite and hybrid combat specific professions? I think this would make combat as a whole more engaging without the addition of an entirely new profession.
Dayre Realm - Intrepid
NO TH you have it completely wrong Sir
DE do NOT want a DH profession..please check out the DE forum.
I have trouble believing you could get this so wrong...please point out where we are supposed to have 'made it very clear' that we want this..we do not want this. It is Anathema..it is Doom.
Thanks for listening

I understand auto-store needing to happen. But come ON. I go into my merchant tent to load a vendor and then hear the incredible sound of silence as my bike autostores about 30 seconds after I go into a tent.
Yes, that is rather annoying. I hate when it auto stores if I go to Star Wares to pick up things, and go outside to find my swoop auto-stored in about 30 seconds time. I agree with the auto-store option, but personally, the time needs to be increased.

Could you drop a hint when we will see the post about the DROID INVASION, please?
Ill be doing it this week. I had to push it off until some of internal discussions were finished. The timetable was changed because the Droid Engineers were very clear in telling me they wanted Droid Engineering and Droid Handling as two seperate professions.
Their argument makes a lot of sense too. A good balance is akin to Bio-Engineers and Creature Handlers; BE's make em and CH's use them. Its really two different playstyles. One is crafting and one is combat/exploration. Adding a class of combat droids to the game has to be similar. Combat droids themselves have to stay level 10 or under for the general population otherwise everyone would rush out and get the better pets. That leaves a wide range of powerful combat droids that needs to be in the game, but to get those droids, players have to spend the time and energy to earn them.
So what we'll have is a Droid Engineer profession and a Droid Handling profession. All players will have access to combat droids up to level 10 and DH's will get a wide range of heavy combat droids to handle.
*no response due to the poster's inability to type anything sans CURSORY*
Making a Droid Handler profession IMO opinion is a smart idea. Why? Because not having one makes droid Engineer the uber class. This is the reason why the transfer command was moved to Master Creature Handler. With the transfer command creature handlers are not only the most powerful PvE class in the game but also they could sell their creatures as well, making them fairly economically.
If you give the droid engineers uber tanks, damage dealers and a crafting professions, why would anyone not pick it up? You people seem to forget that you are in fact a crafting class, not a combat class. Can't you be content with making boatloads of money off of Droid Handlers instead of taking the whole cake? If you folks get your way, EVERYONE will be a Droid Engineer.

Your kidding right? A driod is a robot programed to follow orders. Does your P4 tell you that you cant use it because your not a programer? Driod handler should work not around what type you have but how many you can have out at once.I meanits all about money when getting a driod its not about how well you know them. If soo then you should make driods repairable like thevehicles. Only by either Driod handlers or Driod Engineers.
I myself am a master chef. But does that mean I cant afford abattle driod?Or a upgraded driodtecka? I do not want to see probots have a small upgrade and to tell me that I cant have the driod I want because I am not a handler.I understand I cannot have a whole legion of driods because I am not a handler. But 1 single driod should be able to be called by anyone almost anytype leave the really high levels driods and upgrades to a handler(which I think is a bad idea in itself).
But either way dont stick every one who is not a handler or engineer with a worthless probot. Try and think before you do something like add a whole new branch of skills for us to find bugs in.
