Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 3-8-04)
I would like to see new house styles where theroofs can be accessed which have shorter walls so you can look down to the ground from all sides .
Also I think that it would be nice to be able to place items on your balconiesand roofs.
Something to think about
Wastoid,
I completely dropped merchant, (I didn't have master merchant.) I still have a NPC type merchant greeting people with a custom greeting, even though if I made a merchant now, I'd be stuck with a robo-bartender or vending machine, and no greeting of any kind.
I suspect that politician is the same, that once something is set, there are no tests to see if the mayor is eligable to have that as the bonus.

i'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i don't know where to ask. Is there going to be a new server coming out any time soon? it is just so saturated on the current ones i've been playing and would like to see a new one. I know some friends who would like to know too.
Probably not for a bit. We're more focused on how to get more people on the existing servers.

Could we please get all vendors linked to a bazzar system, and for a fee, the merchandies could be delivered to the buyer.
I'm fed up running after ghost vendors, empty vendors etc, spending my RL quality gaming time on this..

Yes. These items are going to be considered in an upcoming publish. There are a lot of low level programming things happening to improve bazaar and vendor functionality and use-ability. Once that's done, we're going to pick up the bazaar and merchant discussions. DocSavag (merchant Correpsondent) has done a great job at bringing me the merchants and player perspective and we based a lot of it on the long threaded discussion that was posted (its in the archive now).
First I have noticed huge improvements in the vendor server response time. It is actually function even during peak hours. It still isn't there yet. It can lag a minute or more at times still. It is getting there, but it isn't there yet. Better searching abilities would be nice for the regular bazzar and people's vendors. Maybe tie it into the new droids some how where they can be search to see what is available and then someone can head out to the actual vendor. Either that or have a master merchant listing in the regular bazaar where people can search all items on their vendors from anywhere in the galaxy.

The current servers are very lagged. If you ever played two accounts on two servers this is very clear. There is anywhere from a 3 to 10 second lag between what happens on one screen and what happens on another. In the FPS world, this would be horridly unacceptable and the game would fail hard. Lucky for SOE they are in a different game genre that is kinder to laggy servers. Dantoonie and Lok remain rather lagged, although they have improved as of late. The focus doesn't need to be on getting a new server open, but it certainly shouldn't be on getting more people on the existing servers when the existing servers have moretrafficload than they can handle. The focus needs to be on improving server response time and adding in more content so everything doesn't seem so saturated. There are a few places in the game like Rori or Talus that are ghost planets. So there is room in the current game for both more content and players, but the servers can't handle anymore load than what they have until they are upgraded.

I would love to see a way the merchent can make credits by putting things on consiment. Basicly renting out the vendors to others.
