I left the game for a couple months because I felt the Jedi revamp would be something worth playing through rather than an even steeper grind. Now that I have had the opportunity to go to the village and see the new system I am severely disappointed. I started playing SWG in beta and have been playing since (aside from my 2 month break) in order to play as a Jedi. Now that it has become nothing more than a way to keep players paying even longer I'll be leaving again.



The only reasons I enjoyed playing the game was the small amount of social interaction I have had and the fact that I could eventually become a Jedi. Now that the system requires me to grind (especially since I have gone from a power player to a casual player) 2.5x more XPthan to have grind through all 36 professions (grinding is the main reason I left in the first place.) it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. This change is almost enough for me to break away from the whole Star Wars experience. Fortunately SWG is not the only game in town, KOTOR 2 is commin out shortly along with Battlefront and several mods for other currently popular games that are already avail that will keep me playing in the Star Wars universe for a long time. Who knows, maybe if the Jedi system actually gets changed to a full on quest system I'll be back, but as of now the money I had to reserve JTL has been converted (much like the new XP system) over to Battlefront.



I don’t hate SOE for anything they have or haven’t done. It's a very smart business decision, I'm just not happy with that decision. Will SOE keep getting my money? Sure. I play EQ still and I anticipate EQ2, but ill be staying away from SWG unless something changes.



There is something i have always said, and my friends would vouch and most would prolly agree. It was a big mistake on the part of the original concept to base this on a part of the Star Wars timeline that has already been written in stone. When you add in human interaction, the chaos theory takes effect. The only way for this game to be successful would have been to base this game on the expanded universe during a time period that hasn't been already decided. For one example (no offense to those that enjoy the current GCW) the Empire loses period. So dispite weather or not the imperials that are actually in-game could defeat the Rebels, they never will according to continuity. This is something that made KOTOR so good....no boundries.

Hi all!


I think there are several reasons why everybody wants to become a Jedi and there are also several possibilities to solve this problem...

First, every Player wants to be unique - unique by style and skill. Nearly everybody in the game runs around with composite amor - every second player has one and every fifth has it even coloured the same way - not very unique! So just bring in some new styles of amor - they could have the same defence they just have to look different. RIS is a good invention - but it’s more difficult to find a player with a complete RIS than to find a Jedi... guess why - min. 50 mio (...if you even get one...) for a complete set of these on Gorath - and they don’t even have better stats than composite!

Just bring in more items so every player can look different from others... I think some of you know Diablo 2. At Level 99 the character wasn’t able to become any better but people still played it because of the special items in the game - the sets, uniques and so on. And with that everybody was able to become a real individual!



The second reason is because there is nothing to do in the game after you are master and have no skillpoints left. One possibility to solve this is to invent an "After-Master-Skillsystem". Let peoplebecome better than master! For example for 900k weapon-xp (the max you can gain after you are a master combat class...) the player can increase his accuracy, speed or something else by +1. So players who play their class longer can become stronger than others... In my opinion such a system should have no limitations. In real life it’s always possible to learn something new and become better...



Another reason is, because there is simply too few content in the game - I can’t remember when the last theme park went live... just bring in some new roleplaying content... quests with riddles who take longer than a weak and can only be done by a master class. But please be more imaginatively than you have been at the other theme parks because there are only four kinds of quests to do: go there and kill this person - go there and bring that person back - bring something to this person - pick up something from this person! Believe me; this is not really funny to do the same thing over and over again. A quest I for example really liked was the one you had to defend the science-facility where a replacement for alderan flower was researched! It also wasn’t something very imaginary because you had nothing else to do than kill stormtroopers, but it was presented in an interesting way... at this mission I got a real feeling of Star Wars...



So you see there are several things you can do to avoid everybody of wanting to become a Jedi - I know, there are still many how just bought the game for that reason but this is a game... it should be fun... everybody should be able to play the character he wants - and if somebody wants to play Jedi than let him do it - just make the road to Jedi more difficult than other professions - but not that hard than it is in the current system... 111 mio weapon-xp to fill all boxes is far to much! Bring up the xp-penalty for Jedi-death but don’t make it possible to get lower than 0... (...don’t know if this is possible right now - I have just read it in another forum that a Jedi had a minus xp value...)
I also have to say that I like it to see some Jedi every day... this is Star Wars, and Jedi play a key role in it... It’s something that makes Star Wars to what it is... if there won’t be any Jedi, it would just be another Science Fiction Story with nothing special and anything different from others!

here's MY plan.


first, the devs make a new server. Call it "Jedi".. okay thats lame but something that has to do with jedi. then, just let everyone make a force sensitive character on there! completely wipe out the possibility to become jedi on all the other servers, so the game can go back to the way it was, and also in the process, get rid of all the peeps who do nothing but grind all day on the normal servers. mmm... equilibrium.

Village comments:


First thing... very cool.I'm having a lot of fun. (for now)


Beyond that... three weeks per phase seems an awful long time, especiallywith being only able to do one quest and unlock one branch per phase. At three weeks per phase, and four phases, imagine you want the four branches offered during phase 1. That's one quest every 12 weeks. Is it really that fun to wait 3 months between skills? How about 9 months (at best) to get all four from that phase? Shorten the phase time,allow more unlocks during the phase, or offer all of the branches all of the time. You've got too many control systems here. At this rate, people will just get bored and quit.


I finished my first quest in a few hours over two days. Now there isn't anything left to do at the village except convert xp. It would be nice if you could take some of the other quests, or if there were FS-themed non-unlocking quests/missions that you could take from there. You could allow FS players to get FS related quests from the hooded-cloaked nobles in NPC cities.

Give more info on the branches to those in the village. I had two unlocks and pretty much just picked two branches that sounded cool. Once I could actually see the branches in my skills window, I could make a lot more informed decision about what to pursue. Maybe show the branches in the "All Professions" skill window to those that are FS, or at least once you talk to a village member? Include some pre-reqs (like you have to be master medic to unlock senses: persuasion), and list the types of xp that can be converted for them too.


It would be nice to be able to cancel a mission. A friend of mine who has melee skills took the combat mission of phase 1, and now that she knows what branch it unlocks (ranged weapon related), it's no good to her.

Two weeks since pub 10. 46 pages of posts of players expressing their opinions (mostly negative) Nearly 1,000 posts. And STILL not one peep from any Dev wiith any type of answer or response. I used to be passionate about this game, now im getting frustrated with the lack of support. All work is going towards JTL, and it seems the Devs viewpoint is "Hey, you got your path to becoming Jedi. You get nothing more from us."

I have had a lot of emotion since the announcement of pub 10. First I was really looking forward to some meaty content, mmmmm Jedi quests. Then disheartened when I saw that all that was done was creating another dull as dishwater grinding system. Still I have some hope. Last night a group of us helped a friend do his exit quest to begin the initiate quests. This was a fun mission. It needed a bit of cordination and was to a degree challenging. If only the path to becoming a Jedi was 100% quest based as opposed to 96% xp grinding. There is a great disturbance in the force. It is the sounds of silence from the Dev team.



When I die I want to go like my Grandfather, quiet and peacefully in my sleep. Not like the passengers, screaming and yelling in his car!

Ok, I'd like to post a complaint of a different sort.



Is there anything that can be done about all the factories being put up around the Village on Corbantis? Not sure if other servers are having this trouble, but the area surrounding the Village is looking like a city with all the factories. And you know they aren't making anything in these factories, they're using them to store all the new resources that the Sith are dropping.

Im not asking for the Devs to tell us what to do. Im asking for the Devs to answer some of the many questions posed by paying customers in this thread. Bugs, broken quests, complaints about the new grinding system, ect. I dont mind mystery, Im not seeking a step by step walk-through. I, like many of us that have posted here are asking for a few answers. SOE is ignoring a lot of very good and well thought out posts here. They have certainly had time to consider whats been said and could offer some type of statement about pub 10, beyond the alleged quest based path to Jedi. If you care to post something positive about pub 10, please go right ahead and do so. There are a few comments that are positive. But the vast majorty are saying that this new and punitive system to become a Jedi, from a gating standpoint, and from the xp conversion rates is a poor follow up to the holo-grind. Crafters as an example were told that they too could become a Jedi. Their conversion rates are such that it is nearly impossible to do. And to make matters worse, FS experience is even qualifed and split up between the different trees. So med experience cant be used to convert in FS points in any of the reflex or combat branches as an example. Pub 10 is ill concieved and poorly executed and I fear that if it is not changed and changed soon to be fair to all players, that the SWG universe will be hurting for players. And that would be a crime.

And I just recalled an earlier post in this thread about removing the PVP battleground near the village on Dath. If a quest mission spawns there, and they do. And you need combat, well the quest becomes broken. The PVP battlefield is still there. Yet another example of a well placed question thats gone unaswered.

pub 10 has a bug.. Trust me I know it basically I received the old man than a day os so later was attacked by the sith and heres where the problem comes in i was outside of kadarra after looting the sith guys i used to data disk then proceded to goto the waypoint unfortunately the waypoint was going to end up in the city of kadarra so it came up said no camp found and then gave me a new waypoint probably per design but the next waypoint ends up in the middle of a pa hall about 1k away , then with the csr's help i went shuttle riding which did bring the waypoint back up only problem is its the same waypoint and still in the middle of the pa hall and all csr's can tell me is it will be fixed at server up which to me is them saying that the sith camp and the waypoint will be gone at server up and they are not telling me where i stand now ..... very irratating.

I'm naive... I thought they were using them to manufacture stuff... but you're almost certainly right.

NEW BUG


During Sivarra's Quest if you talk with a droid and take the mission on heal an NPC and then talk to Sivarra and she says you fail you will not be able to redo the mission or any other mission, because people will say that you look busy.


Please fix this, but adding some sort of reset

I have a question. I recieved credit for 2 free branches and got them unlocked. I didn't know where to get trained for those boxes at first so i go to the Captain and do his patrol quests. Once i completed his quest, it unlocked a branch that i already had thatI was given for free. Was this suppose to happen or is this a bug. I would assume there would be a check to ensure that if a branch is unlocked already it won't be unlocked again, or am i wrong. I can see this being a problem once phase 2 of the village arrives, if a person has not finished grinding the xp to finish a branch is that branch going to be unlocked again when they finish the quest for phase 2. I should have 3 branches unlocked and be able to get trained, but of course i don't. Instead only doing 3 phases of a village, I have to do 4 phases. I sent in CSR ticket and they could not give me a branch, I find that if i should have 3 branches unlocked, a CSR could give it to me. It's obvious that i haven't grinded enough xp to even come close to finishing a branch, but i have 2 full branches in combat and can't get trained in anything else.

46 pages of the same post, over and over again. "Devs, please tell us what to do". They clearly stated, prior to Pub10 release, that this system was to be mysterious.
