i say you should just leave system way it is it it difficult and time consuming and thatwhat keeps the balance of jedis in the galaxy if holo grinding stops there will be very few entertainers in cantinas and far less balance of professions as there is now why change a good thing
I have to agree. I like the Idea but with SO many doing 15 and 20 classes it would be a kick in the chops to say ok now do a months worth of quests and you will become a jedi,What I find most troubling is the fact of the "LOSS" of the Extra slot. If it should be quest based then at least let it be to open the slot. or to give those who have worked Very hard to open the slot the full path to the "Holy Grail" of SWG characters "the Jedi".I am all for Jedi in the game. Even if it makes Yoda wrong..
The last of the Jedi you will be ... I think.
I personally agree with the removal of the FSCS slot. It will allow players to realistically move their characters towards becoming jedi in a manner that is much more reminiscent of the films. The quest system also needs to be based in a similar way to what we see in the films. By this i mean a kind of master/apprentice system whereby a player is trained by a current jedi (be they real or npc) and is able to shift over to using jedi skills dynamically without restarting with an essentially blank character which does not follow the spirit of the movies at all. Although much of the quest system may be based on finding that trainer and indeed discovering that the character is FS in the first place.
Contacting the npcs that set you on the quests could be made very difficult to grind simply by having random npcs give the quest to each player. There could be a certain chance of said NPC having altered dialogue than normal when a character talks to them. Finding the npcs could be performed by having the game provide a message to the player on the lines of 'you sence something unusual about this person'.
On a slightly different note the other thing i think should be included for jedi is a danger sence... which would basically mean that they are warned by another system messageif a BH with a mission out on them comes too close to them them (but without specifying direction or distance) the distance the sence works over could be modified by jedi skills.
There should be absolutely no escort quest. Crafting as far as searching and scavenging for parts to build your light saber would be fine, but you should not need to be an artisan to do. However no creatures that almost never spawn or need a group to take down. I do think it would be fair however to make the quest with combat. I think the combat should hinge on you killing people by yourself. People you group with should not be able to attack to help you. At most maybe you can higher a medic to go along with you to help heal you only. There should be some way to tell if you and only you did the quest. The reason I think combat should be in the quest and is fair, is for the reason Jedi will be hunted it's a known fact they are now. If you cannot fight now how will you defend yourself when you are hunted by BH? I think missions should all be set at least at a master combat profession level. If you’re a CH plus a master combat profession I think missions should generate at master plus your highest CH level. Make it more realistic also Bounty Hunter for the sake they are Bounty Hunters should not be allowed to go for Jedi. That’s sounds harsh but BH are better equipped them all other profession because they are hunting Jedi’s and such quest will be easier for them than other classes.
The quest should not be boring nor should they be a bunch of hard creatures that are just thrown in to make it hard to be a Jedi. It wouldn't be bad to have to find certain masters Jedi's that can only teach you certain techniques. It might not even be bad for BH to get missions to hunt the trainers causing the trainer not to be around for a few hours.
I don't really mind the current holocron system, I would never had tried Bounty Hunter without this system. However, with our without the holocrons, any changes you make to your character force you to destroy hours of time and work that has been put into your character. This is just wrong. Other games allow you to create multiple characters to try out the various aspects of the game, WITHOUT DESTROYING YOUR MAIN. If I'm a chef and want to try out a combat profession that I need to drop the chef profession, there needs to be a way for me to go back to chef without starting over from scratch. Games like Final Fantasy and Horizons let you try many professions without loosing the efforts you put into your character.
I would say that a master should at the least be able to keep any amount of exp they saved up and be abel to use that to regain boxes in the future, not have all their exp destroyed because of the in game caps.
I'd rather see a system where a master can reclaim his boxes without more grinding, maybe put a time limit on it like with stat migration. People would be far more likely to try new things and master new professions if they could migrate back to things they have done previously without starting over again.
While having your character slowly become a Jedi might seem good in theory, I dont' know how this might play out. I don't want Bounty Hunters camping my harvestesr or my shop to kill me while I"m cooking food. The current Jedi system makes those players hunted 24/7. They can choose when to log onto their Jedi character. Some hybird Force User/Chefcould be a mess.
Force Crystals need to be gained by quest not some macro campfest as is the current system. Camping is just an excuse for very poor game design. Characters in game should never be required to camp anything to gain any type of reward. It's just a bad way to play. Jedi shoudn'tneed tens of millions of credits to play. They are Jedi, not Donald Trump.
I would like to see more interaction with light and dark jedis. I think a mission system included in all this were jedis use the force to track other jedis down and fight.
You could keep the missions on even par by the season of the jedis... but all in all i still thimk it would be fun dueling with another jedi as long as there were no penalitys for the loser...
Here is a suggestion (and as there are a thousand posts here already it may have been stated and i missed it).
Everyone EVERYONE gets one force sensitve slot that can be applied to any one server (even one with a current active character).
When a character is created in this slot it is NOT already a jedi but a normal charcter.
This NEW character, however, is force sensitive and is given a personal "guide" much like the current fs characters are given.
This guide will give missions to the new charcter in which each element must be completed by you and only you... meaning if the mission is to destroy an ancient bull rancor lair then you must engage and kill each rancor as well as the lair without the assistace of other player charcters (you must recieve 100% of the combat experience).
As this charcter progresses and acquires new skills the quests given will change to be a challenge to that particular profession (be it medic, marksman, scout or whatever).
These quests will continue to be progressively more difficult forcing a player to continue to progress in his/her chosen proffesion in order to be able to complete the missions. (a marksman for example may have to destroy a bull rancor lair using only a guide issued republic blaster while an armorsmith may have to create a full suit of composite armor without the use of personal harvesters and without purchasing any of the components needed).
After eachquest is completed you would be rewarded by your guide with something (money, a force crystal, etc...) as well as given a number of "jedi faction points"
After spending all 250 of your original skill points without surrendering any of those points AND after accruing the required number of jedi faction points you would be offered a chance to petition the counsil for acceptance as a jedi and be required to prove yourself in one final task/trial.
Upon succesful completion of all the above mentioned things you are stripped of all your worldly possesions other than your money and any relative items (force crystals). Given a waypoint to your jedi trainer and a schematic for a lightsaber and off you go.. a jedi at last.
I think that this system will allow players a very individual, very difficult yet very achievable path to becoming a jedi.. safe to say even the LEET players will have to actually work at it as the quests will be based on your choice of proffesions thereby preventing you from taking the current uber template and blowing through.. it will also prevent you from being poweracted through the quests by a group of LEET friends. Finally it does not completely interfere with current play as everyone can play whichever proffesion set they enjoy playing and know that the quests will still be completeable...
This is a rough draft of an idea but In my opinion the most fair and level way of becoming a jedi for everyone from occasional players to power players.. please tell my what you think.... good or bad I can take it
However, anything that makes my MAIN character become a jedi is BAD. I do not want my 5 month Archiect/Artisan/Merchant character to suddenly become chased around by BH's. The one and only really smart thing was a new character for the account that allowed you to begin fresh without the baggage from game relationships and other errata.
ive played Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, and i thought the way Kyle became a jedi again was cool. where he has to go to the Valley of the Jedi and get the force put in him. i think it would be great if to become a jedi, you had to go on quests and find the location. Of course, the location wouldnt be safe from all those sad little people who would search the planets endlessly for it. I was thinkign more of a thing where the person who complete's the quest gets not only the location but the means to access it as well. this would mean that even if everyone knew the location, they would get hit by a beam of lightning or something when they try to enter.
what do you think?
