Thread: Fan Fest Beta Test: Stars, My Destination!

Funny, I spent the same thing, more actually since I have three accounts. And was in beta as well. Met a ton of other such folk at fan fest who've been around just as long and have a couple of accounts. A ton who were also in beta, we shared lots of stories.
But I guess attending Fan Fest automatically disqualifies us as Veteran players. My apologies for the misunderstanding.
I'll thank you not to put words in my mouth. Never once did I say veterans attending fan fest were anything but veterans.
Hope that clears up the misunderstanding.

And, as I keep trying to tell you, the majority of people who attended Fan Fest *ARE THESE VERY SAME PEOPLE*. Myself included. Sure, there are some who don't fall into this category. There are people who will be classified as 'veterans' too who haven't been here since day one and/or didn't help beta test the ground game. Just look at the veteran ship, 6 months consistently running account is all it takes to be considered 'veteran' for that. The only thing that separates myself and most people I met at Fan Fest from you is simply that we went to Fan Fest, nothing more. Now, if you'll admit that that's what you're *really* complaining about here, that's a totally different argument, and I'm not saying you're wrong to feel the way you do in that case by any means. But you're making and 'overall' contrast here that simply doesn't exist in the majority of cases. I for one am very sorry you or anyone else weren't able to attend Fan Fest who didn't/wasn't able to go, and I totally understand that not everyone was able. It was a wonderful two days, a very informative two days, an extremely fun two days, and I enjoyed getting to actually meet and discuss a few things with a couple of the developers. I would have felt the same way regardless of whether 'JTL beta' was involved or not, and so would you have had you been there. You keep coloring it was a beta-driven event, but it really wasn't, and you'd understand that if you had been there.
Its all good and well TH announcing FF Beta's invatations are being sent out, but what about Veterans and TC people?? hu, in my opinion they should have released all 3 parties details and not just FanFest people, also talking about FanFast.
I can garuntee that if SOE etc didnt announce that all FF people attending get into JTL Beta automaticly, thire would have only been around a 30% turn out from what thy got, thats probably a true figurepercentage wise, might have been even less, sadly I live in Europe like most others or others that dfont live in US of fasinaty, are kind of left out, the cost is was was extreamly high to get flight tickets thier and back, plus then youd have tro get transport via either taxi, or rent a car, the cost of hotel etc etc entrance fee and so on, all ammounts to a hell of alot of money so.
I hope dearly dearly that SWG Vets and selected TC people will get invatation acnouncment this Friday, hope its not as a Friday Feuture, and I hope for SOE's sake its not another frigin Jedi Friday Feuture or some sort of other thing that ever player know already about.

Im glad you hated it so much you came to the boards and whined it was boring. You clearly didnt go for the fan fest. If anything it would probably be quite interesting interacting with the Development team face to face and meeting other players. You went to get beta. You can deny it all you want but the fact you can sit there and say fan fest was boring when is it gonna end etc indicates where your coming from.I know for a Fact theres people who went cause they are great fans of the Game. I know several who attended from Guilds I deal with on bloodfin. I have no issue with Fan Fest Atendees getting into beta cause thats what they used to sell atending the Fan Fest. "Go to Fan fest and we will give you JTL Beta."What i do have a problem with is the way its being handled. Fan Fest People cause they paid even more money on top of the Monthly fees, buying the game etc are more important? Thats the way they seem to indicate things. People playing this game for 14+ months are honestly more Important to this game.As far as selling a Snoop Dog country western CD? Youd be surprised what people will fall for.Message Edited by Suba on 09-08-2004 12:05 PM
Why complain now? When the fan fest tickets were on sale they announced that fan fest attendees will get early acceptance to beta, which is the main reason I went ahead and went. Did you want them to go back on their word now and let you in? You will get in next week, so knock off all the drama.

The veterans of this game are being slighted here. Veterans don't ask to be guaranteed slots, but they more than deserve to be considered first before anyone else. These people are your money makers. Without them you're sunk.
Then I'm not sure I understand the point of your post at all....on one hand you're saying veterans are being slighted because they're not amongst the very first initial invite set, but on the other hand you acknowledge Fan Fest attendees as veterans in many cases even though beforeyou try to argue that veterans regardless should be invited before anyone else. So again, the real issue you have isn't one of 'veteranship', but one of simply a subset of veterans who were able to attend Fan Fest being invited first. That's all I've been trying to point out here. And it's not something I'm saying I disagree with either at all, although I do think if a week from now the 'veteran' floodgates are opened then your argument/complaint is null and void at that point. If they're making the rest of the vets wait till the end of the month, then I'm solidly in your court there. But again, all I've been trying to point out is that just because a person went to Fan Fest in no way makes them less a 'veteran' or are any less serious about the game than anyone else is. Some make a point to try and color things otherwise as a means of justifying their impatient disgruntledness.
