Thread: Desired Rewards
Desired rewards: at least aworking profession for droid engineer
Asthat is one of the hardest crafter profession and by the way the MOST useless crafter profession ....
Even the official correspondent for DE has given up ....
maybe it is time to add other things than bug to the DE
I believe rewards should not need crafters. I see no reason in bleeding for something that requires the survices of another to get any real reward from it.
Do
How about schematics foralternate models of existing weapons? You know how the Artisan Crafting missions give you a schematic for some make-beleive item? Well, why not just have certain missions give out a reward that is a schematic for a palette-swapped, or alternate-graphic model version of an already existing gun? i.e. How about a CDEF Pistol that's lightpink, and can be referred to as a "Barbie Pistol"? Of course, that's a silly example, but you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.
I'd like to see a larger variety of dropped components, and more of them. For example, Krayt Tissues, the lowest ones, are +30 damage, -0.3 speed. Better ones scale higher. However, how about XYZ Tissue, which gives +10 min damage and -0.5 to speed, and scales accordingly. Some components would be used to create different types of weaponry.
How about components that change damage type too?
Weapon Power Ups that have insane bonuses. i.e. a +80% Max Damage, +60% Speed, +40% HAM Costs. Yeah, the stats would be incredible, but it's just limited use. Of course, I think such a power-up should have a 1000 shot duration...not the usual 100. 1000 shots is like 10-20 mobs, not very much, but at least it'd be fun to collect a few of these and use them in certain situations. Plus, they'd make a huge difference in PvP battles, giving people a great incentive to go after them. (This doesn't necessarily deal with crafters, BUT, it's such a limited use item that it wouldn't affect the economy...besides, who would sell these?)
Definitely more skill power-up items.
I also like the idea of stacks of 1000 units of totally awesome resources. i.e. 1000 units of 999 Shock Resistance Steel that would make a totally maxed out Sword.
I think if you jumble up a lot of these together, you could have someone come to a crafter with a variety of components, maybe 2 or 3 with lots of speed, and 1 special one with all the stats the character wants. Then add in a special barrel component that changes the damage type, so that's 2 components used. PLUS, he has some really uber Copper, and he offers the Weaponsmith a schematic (one of the permanent ones, like the Artisan missions) for an alternate-graphic version of a Scout Blaster in exchange for building him the gun.
So that's 4 items that the combat character already collected, and the crafter can benefit from getting his extra components, and the ability to craft the alt-version Scout.
Anyway, hope my suggestion don't get drowned out wth all the other 10,000 posts on this thread. ![]()
I want my own planet.
I want NPCs to hail asI pass by.
I want statues erected in my name.
I want statues of me in heroic poses with a plaque at the bottom explaining how I saved this city/planet from the invasion of the blood sucking vampire termites, all two of them.
I want rewards people can see; not items for my house. I don't invite many players over.
I want a creature that is unique. That everyone else has a low probability of obtaining even if they do a quest over and over. It doesn't have to be an uber creature. Maybe it's a similair creature but it comes in a different color.
I want bragging rights. I want to be seen. Give me a one time use schematic that I can give to a tailor and he can make me a unique suit.
I want fish named after me. I want a starport named after me. I want to place signs that travellers can read like 'Welcome to Neitz's starport. He da man.' I want to have dungeons named after me.
I want to be a legend. I want to have NPCs walk by and start rumors about my accomplishment. "You hear of someone named Neitz. I hear he kill ants, many, many ants."
The loot should be items that can be crafted into soething nice for the combat classes.
The combat class goes out and does the "uber quest". They get "Item X" for their trouble. Combat class then takes Item X to weaponsmith / armorsmith / DE / BE / tailor / chef / architect to get their item made. The crafter then gets a healthy dose of XP for using Item X.
Combat class is happy because they have a swanky item - better then could be expected using "regular" components, and the crafter is happy as they get a nice chunk of cash for the sale and bonus xp for using Item X.
Since your main desire is keeping crafter integrity to its fullest, I'm pressed to think of much highly useful rewards.
I do have one suggestion though, and that's eliteclass specific armor.
To me, since I worked so hard on my character, I feel I am unique to many others now, and that's a big part to MMORPGs. Unfortunately, I still walk around with the armor so many others have. Since armor is freely available to everyone right now, it's a LOT more widespread than it would be with class specific armor.
I would love nothing more than for my bounty hunter to have the suit from the movies, or my commando to get an interesting marine/army sort of outfit..
Commando outfit That for example looks really cool.
It wouldn't even have to be unbalanced to craftable armor, it would just be means for players to get something since it's a nightmare getting up that huge wad of money for Composite and chitin etc.
You guys already give us 30-35% faction based armor, why not give us say 40% (maybe less or more depending on the class specific quest) armor?

make it look unique. Like a crome flamethrower with a blue muzel because the heat turned it blue (not sure if this can be done). Now I may not use this weapon in combat but I would carry it around town as my visual badge.

I'll state this very clearly: It is a design objective to keep crafter integral to the game economy. We do not want to put crafters out of business by making dropped loot better than the best crafted items. Overall SWG is not an Uber-Loot game (like EQ or DAoC) and we don't intend to make it so.
In response to this statement:
SWG is definetly NOT an uber-loot game. However, as i've played DAoC and have a LGM tailor who is never out of work, thismakes me wonder. With all the extras that tailors can put into the clothing on swg this should not be a problem to put some nice drops of armor out there and it also wouldn't put the tailors out of business. It also doesn't seem that anyone really uses this armor muchwith the extra stats added as their characters can pretty much get past the mobs without those enhancements. If drops were better, maybe players would choose to have thier armor/clothing ordered with the slots filled. Also,I know plenty of players who like to look fashionable and would buy from armorcrafters and tailors alike regardless of the drops they get, which is exactly what happens on DAoC. The player crafted armor is far superior to anything you can get as drops. This is also the case with weaponcrafters.
To answer the main question:
It would be nice to get some decent money on such missions. The loot/credits for those who don't have high weapon skills even though they are masters in 2 professions which i know is by choice is just sad. I did a quest with my Master CM almost master Docter yesterday and recieved a whole 26c/some combat xp/and townfolk faction pts. I find it quite interesting that the mission payouts are based on weapon skills even though you master in two professions.
Yes i know that the missions are lower lvl... but that's because we (players that become a support class) have to spend points in the areas that are important. Also... those classes NEED the money to buy much needed components for their job to survive.
Thanks for listening. ![]()
COIN / PLAT / GREENBACKS / DINARS!
---- MONEY MONEY MONEY ----
Maybe some SWG NPC's that drop coin will be good... now people only do missions for coin no GORNET camping.
