Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 5-10-04)
TH - here's a conceptual idea for you here - possibly as an add on to the SE?
Skiffs or Multi player vehicles like in EP IV - ie: the skiff that Luke and Han were on when being taken to the Sarlacc. I would propose a vehicle owned by 1 person that could carry up to 10 other players or NPC's.
This could prove to be a pretty handy vehicle for a number of applications as well as creating another "imersion" element.
1. Group hunts - 1 person driving would eliminate the keystone cop driving approach that happens when you have up to 20 people driving around and storing vehicles.
2. For PvP applications - Imagine a skiff full of 10 Overt rebs or Imps blasting into town and jumping off all at once in front of a starport.
Other sub vehicles could be an armored style transport that absorbs either factional or mob aggro shots when driving by protecting the inhabitants.
Just a rough Idea I wanted to toss out to the group here to see if anyone else would care to expand on it.
1) Make a anti-spam-system.
2) I'm tired of seeing so many afk-entertainers. They need to be fixed to some point.
3) Furniture color customization, we really need to be able to choose other colors than the standard. Also make so that the furniture etc. Loveseats have different names (Cheap, Quality, Elegant for example), so we can see them apart.
4) Like what you did with the Droid Deeds, just with Houses and maybe Harvesters (should be like this with all deeds).
I'm glad that you fixed the vehicle bug, now fast mounts actually have a purpose ![]()

Building upon comments by "Maeves" and "The_Shruberer" I would like to see some kind of in game classifieds or bulletin board implemented. Have a nice clean way to post services being offered, services wanted, and items wanted. Also give a way to sort it. I could see this being done through the data pad or terminals in each star/shuttle port. If this were developed and were easy enough (and free) to use, I could see this drastically reducing the amount of spam around the starports. I would love to go up to a terminal and browse through doctors offering buffing services and a crate or twoof high class resources for sale by some Zabrak named Joe. Giving options like how long to keep it posted and region (local/planet/galaxy) would be useful as well. I'm sure this is all kinda muddled as I am tired. But I think this could be a step in the right direction into helping the mess of text currently seen in-game.
This would be easy. Before Advertisment 3 in the merchant tree, merchants will have to pay a fee to place an ad for their shop at a bazaar terminal. On each planet the bazaar will have another tabe called classifieds. Here are all the vendor locations for all those who do not have advertisement 3 yet. Would server as a money sink for crafters and allow them to get their message out. They could upload the planet andthe coordinates as well as check box what they sell.

I saw someone earlier mention a reference to the Hutt faction.. but am also curious about the neutral faction that was talked about during beta.
It's almost a year since the game launched... and we still don't have those two factions yet.. Could we please get some clarification on when we'll see these implemented.
Actually there should be factions for the crimelords to be fun. Adds another PvP environment potential. Players loyal to Lady Valarian and players loyal to Jabba could duke it out in the back streets of Mos Eisley or Wayfar. Would mean adding some kind of reward system for the factions (all of them, including rebel and imperial) for winning a faction battle. Perhaps players loyal to Jabba get some extra credits for gaining him more turf to control or maybe they get a decent item. This could be the start of using Jabba faction to buy another faction pet "thugs as cannon fodder like ST are to Imps and commandos are to Rebs", "bounty hunters as helpers like ST are to Imps or commandos are to Rebs", "dancing girl who could dance to heal your mind and fatigue, but she cannot buff", "crime lord equipment", etc.
Thunderheart,
Does the development staff envision the profession of Ranger in Star Wars Galaxies along the lines of a US Army Ranger, an expert warfighter for targeted climatic and regional conditions or as a Huntsman along the lines of the current Scout+.

I'm uncertain if anything like this may have been suggested before, but I think it would be nice to have the ability to recycle materials.
There are a couple of possibilities that I can think of offhand:
A small recycling kit: A personal low-efficiency recycling device with an input hopper similar to a crafting kit. The functionality rating would of course dictate the efficiency of conversion from finished product, back into raw materials. The volume of the item would of course be a limitation where the personal recyler is involved, anda low initial effiency cap. The complexity of the item being recycled could also serve as a limitation, both of the capacity of the recycler, and the percentage of resources that can theoretically be reclaimed using this device. Item complexity could serve as a delay, much in the way it does when crafting an item. Most likely this would be an Artisan crafted device.
A personal recycling station: Similar to a personal crafting station frequently seen in homes, this device would have a much higher potential efficiency and storage capacity, as well as conversion rate (based on item complexity) at the cost of portability. This would most likely be made by Architects.
A personal recycling installation: Again, similar to above, with a higher efficiency rating, speed of conversion (Based on item complexity), and volume limitation, at the expense of lots, energy, and maintenance.
Why would someone want or need these devices if you can just go out and harvest more materials, or simply buy them from a resource vender?
It may have potential use for reclaiming materials after an item has lost it's functionality. Lets say that Laser Rifle finnally kicked the buckett, or you critfailed repairing it. If you could recycle enough of the right materials, an armorsmith (Or possibly the originator of the item) could take the item, recycle it and attempt to re-create a similar quality device using the original materials, taking advantage of the stats of those raw materials.
Maybe you bought a house, and decided to either upgrade or move to another planet where that house can no longer be used, and cannot find a buyer. You could recycle the deed for a hefty portion of the materials that went into making it.
Your high quality Swoop spewing flame and smoke, and kinda expensive to repair? Perhaps you can get someone to recycle it and craft you a new one with a discount in exchange for the old one, since they could scrap it for metal.....
Basics of an entertainer revamp -
Right now, limited songs, boring game play, the "fun" doesnt last very long.
Instead of 8 basic flourishes how about some real interaction that is skilled. A system for entertainers already exists in the real world in arcades everywhere. I am sure most of you have seen those huge machines where you have to dance to music and step on the correct pads at the correct time. There is also a version for use with hands that plays music(saw a mad japanese man pushing all these buttons to some classical music game)
Why cant this be used in SWG? Instead of these songs, real starwarsey songs would be played. The musician would have to push the buttons at the correct time depending on what song was playing, the higher you go up the profession the harder the songs get. You would get experience for getting those buttons pushed at the correct time, and you would get extra experience for a long combo. If you made a mistake, the character would make a mistake and it would sound a bit wrong to you and anyone who is listning.
As you climb up the trees, you get recoveryskill. if you make a mistake, depending on how much recovery skill points you have, you get a chance that the mistake will not be noticed by the people listning. It would be nearly impossible for someone to know all the steps of the song from the start, they would have to learn them and when they eventually get to master, they would be very skilled in knowing the "notes" of the song.
Dancers would be very much the same, except the mistakes wouldnt be in sound, but in visual animations, if they make a mistake, they fall over or stumble.
Additionally, entertainers would be able to purchase machines to install in their home or player city cantina that will give other players the opportunity to play this game at a credit cost in that place without needing to get an entertainer profession for a period of time(set by the entertainer) this would also be let entertainers make use of the merchant tree by letting them set access fees for people coming to play the game and watch or listen other peoples attempts to play the game.
These machines in the arcasde are always packed with people lining up to play, and its very entertaining watching them. I am sure that an ingame version would be just as entertaining, and would encourage more people to try their hand at an entertasiner profession rather than only doing it to grind.
There are a different set of 20-30 people in the bestine cantina each week, all of which are grinders, i fear that after the jedi quest patch, there would be no entertainers in the cantina, and it will become anotherbuilding where no one goes.
