Yup. As AO says, I'm not redecorating my house every 2 weeks.
I doubt most other folks are going to either.

I know the Artisans selling these things want reoccuring sales to build on. I know that the decay was an attempt for doing this.
this is nothing we asked for....most archticts think it is a joke and are insulted that this is the "recurring income" solution we where given.
Archtiects where not consulted AT ALL...we had no say so in this matter...
When we where told about it we all said it was a bad idea.
All this decay, death decay, paint decay, lighting decay, who the hell is responsible for this? Too many poor dev decisions.
What happens when a light's timer expires? I looked at a candle I made and put up on patch day, and it still has a couple of days on it, and wonder what the effect of timeout will be. Does it:
- Go poof
- Stop giving light, but otherwise unchanged
- Look burned out somehow, wax parts gone or black spots on lamp
I haven't seen the latter two in other's houses, so I expect (1), but does anyone know for sure?

2 or 3 would be better for keeping a consistent decor, and 3 could be pretty cool in its own right.

I have make 4 type of candles in the patch day...and after 3 days of end of the lifespan they still burn like ever...so i think maybethe lights are bugged.
Shhh, its not a bug, it's a feature. I think everyone agrees it is better this way. Well experimented ones still have the nice stat on them to help sales, just like crafting stations and tools.

And don't move them after they expire or they WILL go out. I tried it. Got me a burnt out candle for
my trouble

Cool, best of both worlds to my tastes. Used candles won't get re-sold, unless someone wants a burnt one for effect. But decorators don't have to worry about replacing them every week.
BTW what did the burnt out candle look like? Different image, or just no light output? I will have to move one and look tonight.
Okay, now that some of my crafted lights have "expired", here are some further thoughts.
A. It's bugged. My candles are down to 0 time left, yet still they flame away...
B. It's a flawed design. People want to decorate with lights, but nobody wants to re-decorate every 2 weeks once they have everything "just right". Needing to replace the entire light/candle fixture placement is a poor decision. I will support the ideas already presented about lightbulbs or matches or whatever to "re-light" existing fixtures.
I think the lights are great. I've got about 9 in various basement rooms at my guild hall. Unlike the houses the guild hall's a pretty dank and dull in the basement and the lights change that.
The only problem I may have is when the lifespan runs out. It takes me around 20 minutes in all to position the lights correctly. Now when they fizzle out i'm going to have to restock and place them all over again ok maybe this is only once per month but even so at some point i'm probably going to stop bothering.
Anyway a little suggestion candles I agree should have a life expirey but the lamps should just have replacement bulbs with an option to replace once the lamps have gone out. This would save the hassle of having to replace them and reposition them. Crafters could sell the bulbs rather than keep having to craft the lights.
