Thread: On Wookiee Armor

Give ID's the ability to change players races (even only once) and I almost guarantee you every wookiee will be gone. I'll be first in line. I've played Wardogus since July and to those retards out there that cry "just delete and start again", you can kiss my patootie. The armor was a step but we've been waiting for something stronger. If I'm not buffed in my armor I last almost as long as not wearing it. This whole buffing nonsense is ridiculous as it eliminates our super HAM bonus that newbie board trolls tout as our greatest "advantage". Simpletons. It means nothing when you are buffed and wearing 90% comp armor that is the norm. If the Devs did things right, those buffs would wear off and your armor would drain the life out of you until you could no longer wear it. However, they allow this "exploit" to continue...

Actually, I would just like to see doctor buffs work exactly the same as entertainer buffs in that the HAM is only doubled. To me this would solve a bunch of issues and there might not even be a need for a combat rebalance.

1. Armor, encumbrance and HAM costs would actually mean something. You would have to choose between the high resist or low encumbrance armor. You couldn't spam specials. Races like Wookiee and Trandoshan HAM bonuses would still matter. You would have to put a lot of thought on how your stats were mitigated.

2. Red cons would BE RED CONS! However this is also the reason people will never agree with only doubling your stats, we won't be able to do amazing things in PvE anymore, I know I have with buffs.

3. Doctor buffs may go down in price because they don't have to worry about using the best stuff to make their enhance packs. They could use any old crap to make them, YOU decide how high your enhanced HAM is by what it is to begin with.

Just my thoughts on what would be neat. However I think people like having 3k HAM and docs like making money off an almost mandatory luxury for a change like this to go through.

Not all of us.

I'm a Wookiee, and I'll stay a Wookiee. So I can't wear composite. *shrug*. I can still play and have fun as a Wookiee. Just because you don't like the racial limitations, doesn't mean that others feel the same way.

I'll agree with Wardog here, it does seem like an exploit the way that armor can only be put on with buffs, but after the buffs wear out you can still wear the stuff. However, I would also say that armor would have to be revamped so you could actually wear a full suit of the stuff and still acomplish something. If that means lower resists, than so be it.
I would also like to say before armorsmiths flame me, that that would leave room for the RIS armor to actually be more than something that looks cool. At the very least, armor you can't wear unless buffed, you shouldn'r be able to wear unbuffed. Like or not you know it's the truth. In my mind RIS armor should have been the only armor with 90% kenitic protection and you could wear a whole suit of it. The comparmor should have been good aginst kentic, but seeing as how almost everything does kenetic dmg, the comp armor should have been 50% kenetic max, and 90% vs. energy or sometihng.
Wich brings us to yet another point that weapons, and creatures should do a much more varied type of dmg. Think if you actually had to have weapons and armor for different creatures you may fight. When I first imagined how the game would play I thought I would have 2-4 weapons in my pack pack for different uses and they would all be effective for the right targets, but useless aginst the wrong targets.
As it is now, best weapon, best armor, spam spceial moves, done
Thanks for reading my post

What I would love is if we could just add armor segments to clothing, giving clothing the level of armor protection(sorta like when you look at an NPC and he has light or medium armor and is wearing very little clothing). This would also allow for a variety in what people are wearing, not a bunch of composite clones. I know many will argue certain points of this idea, but to keep a balance maybe clothing armor does not get better than 50% protect, allowing for a need for the regular armor as well. Just had to say it would be cool.

The only way they'd go down in price, even if their effectiveness were reduced, would be if they were easier to make as well. I'd have to say much easier at that. Fact of the matter is buff packs are currently extremely expensive to make if you can't go out and get all the resources yourself. It's not an easy thing to do, and until that changes, you won't see buff prices changing.

Have any details at all been released about the third set? I've seen the concept art for armor #2, the hunting armor, but nothing about armor #3.

I suspect that things will end up like this:
ceremonial = low end generic all round armor, kinda ok resists

hunting = like ubese, ie very very good kinetic resists which is what you need for hunting critters since most of them do kinetic damage

3rd set = like composite, maybe some sort of wookiee war armor. Great for faction fighting with high resists to multiple types of damage.

...at least that's what I'm hoping will happen...

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

Heh.. that would be cool. Make it that it has about 50-75% encumberance ofregular armor but can only have a maximum of 4 different types of resists .. mmm I hope a dev reads

the only reason im still a wookie is i like it however i dont like the feeling that my friends and guild mates have to stand up and protect me becouse im the WEAK link in the team. i tend to be the first one that need healing or get incap. when doing raids i found im more effect staying out of combat and just healing people since i dont get incap so quick. right now if the jedi revamp goes though as said and all jedi wear robes that are equaly to comp then my wookie my become a jedi and my second char will be my normal character. however if wookie get screwed with the upcomeing armor will it just crap and they cant wear the jedi robe/armor then he just be something i hardley ever play . i just dont want to rerole becouse of the COA badges he has that i lose
