Thread: IT 6-6: Imperial Crackdown: Some changes made based on In-Test Feedback
A few questions:
1. Do you think this will encourage more overt imperials in imperial controlled cities? A covert rebel goes overt when the scanner detects banned items, and overt imperials are ready to pounce them.
2. Do you think this will reduce the number of players in the rebel faction? I.e. a crafter with no pvp skills is a covert rebel just to be a rebel but really never pvps would leave the rebel faction because he doesn't want to be shot on site in a city like theed.
3. Right now, imperial cities are training grounds for overt rebels to pvp (i.e. theed), do you think this will actually for once drive the rebel faction underground?
One suggestion - if a high ranking covert Imperial gets saluted, that should turn him overt -just as it does the rebel.

Now that you have just killed the smuggling profession, can you guys change the death penalty without cloning and insuring to being SALUTED by the Clone Technician in the clone center!
Why be a Smuggler when being Imperial is better.
Why Slice when no Rebels or Neutrals will want your guns for fear of being fined or shot on sight?
Why craft Spice when no Rebels or Neutrals will want it for fear of being fined or shot on sight?
Also, too bad we have to wait until Publish 7 to see if our guns are sliced? By then most Rebels/Neutrals will be tired of getting shot on sight from Publish 6 and become Imperial.
High ranking imperials DO NOT get smuggler skills. They avoid scans and get saluted because they are higher rank than the scanning crew. This has nothing to do with smugglers.
I have to ask you, do you want to play in the star wars storyline? Because it seems you don't.
Smugglers have been complaining that they have nothing to smuggle. Now you get something to smuggle! Geez... make up your mind.
not sure if this was asked but do any containers help 'hide' the contraband better?
But anyone who wears composite armor will automatically have 9 pieces of controband on their person because it has to be sliced to be worn. Doesn't this make it certain that the person is going to be caught?

Although remember, just having the item on you isn't enough to get caught. They have to make thier scanning rolls...
What happens when a Jedi gets scanned. Since the majority of us are Covert rebels that means we shall be turned overt. Currently there is no method for us to go back to being coverts. How does this work? That would mean you would force all Jedi to be turned overt even in the wilderness scans. But not having the option to go back to a Covert status. Could you please allow Jedi to go Covert/Overt from a recruiter at least so we have some method. The added challenge of going to cities is awesome but its extremely unfair if we have no method of regaining our Covert status without dying to achieve it.
But from the other front this is the greatest news smugglers have ever recieved. /cheer
I hope there is a balance between "game atmosphere" and fun. Coverts in particular generally choose to be covert because they do not wish to participate in PvP. I like the changes as described, but if I'm getting scanned and Stormtroopers as well as Imperial players are opening fire on me every few steps while I'm trying to get together with friends to have fun, I'm going to get frustrated pretty fast. Hopefully the chances of each scan outcome are well balanced so that good roleplay/story doesn't become annoying. If it does cross the line to annoying, I'd probably just give up my Rebel faction altogether.
I also hope some consideration is given to Covert Rebels that are crafters/entertainers. In no way am I suggesting Stormtroopers exclude them, but as a former crafter (now a combat type who CAN handle a Stormtrooper) I'd probably just give up my Rebel faction rather than be a corpse on the ground after one of these scans. Crafters/entertainers have little ability to defend themselves (or attack) and even if detected as a Covert Rebel in the scan, shouldn't be as much of a worry for the Empire to be concerned with as opposed to someone with a blaster.
OK, as a Rebel Colonel/Master Smuggler ... I like the changes.
Some points I would like to address:
1) "Made Overt"? (TEF?)
2) Removing the need for Smugglers ... I don't think they have removed it for several reasons.
a) The Imperials MUST be overt OFFICERS to get passed untouched (if I interpret correctly)
b) The Imperials MUST be High Rank Covert to get untouched (quite expensive or taken a lot of time).
c) It more reflects the Star Wars Universe ... would Vader have been searched? would Pallean have been searched? I don't think so ... the "Junior Officer" that tried ... would have either been killed...or miserable...or miserable and then killed.
3) Rebels are the ones that need to smuggler...and we shouldn't have a free pass (100%).
4) Player Cantina's ... should be searched.
5) 95% chance to avoid search ... and if I understand correctly, if they do search, it is not 100% that they will find something (if they look for spice ... and I don't have any spice on me ... they don't then look for sliced items).
All-in-all ... good job Dev's (wish the Sliced item display was included...but what is 1 more publish) ...
