That would cause a lot more grief than it solves because one person could attack everything he sees just to get the first hit and then kill it all at his leisure or let everyone else kill it and still get the loot. (as one of the Devs recently said in another thread)

Interesting changes. Nice to have options.
I'd like to see something done about the ability to kill steal (and thus loot steal). The first person attacking a mob, and the group members they are with, should be the only people able to loot, not the person doing the most damage (if the attackers are ungrouped).
That ends a lot of grief caused by those who kill/loot steal 'because they can" - being Jedi or what....

A box popping up every time someone loots something could be annoying. Aside from that, I love it. Guild hunts, we usually end up sharing loot anyway, so a master looter would work out pretty well.. probably whoever has the most inventory space. The lottery is kind of a nice idea, but I think an "I'm greedy" option, to automatically enter you for any loot, and also a "no inventory space" option to opt out of any loot, might be a nice touch.

Good changes.
Now if the way to determine looting rights would go from individual damage done to total group damage it would be even better.

When running missions of loot dropping NPC's with a group, I really like to have the "mission owner" get all loot from that mission.
With the Master Looter Option, it sounds like I can run that much easier now.
As long as switching the Master Looter is quite simple... which I imagine it will be... I'll be switching it to the mission owner for each mission.
And everyone remember this is just a system for handling group loot.
It remains to be seen what they may or may not do to handle non-group loot battles.

I totally support these new loot rules, I've always felt that the "I looted it first, it's mine" mentality sucked here in SWG.
Only negative thing I can say here is, what took ya so long? hehe

Only issue I can see is the changing of the method.
You are ina group that is set to lottery
You are just about to dropa Krayt
The leader switches the setting to master looter
If you leave the group in disgust you are gonna loose out
If you stay you are gonna loose out
Unless I missunderstand something this will occur.

Nice
But is there per chance anything going to be done about when people who have been swindled out of looting rights by loot/xp stealers.
For example. Im regularly going to Fort Tusken and most people there are in groups and leave non group members alone to fight their own battles. But some inconsiderate (Insert Expletive)'s who are 99% of the time TKM's come in and kill your target in 1-3 hits, when you as a non-elite profession have spent the last 5 minutes beating up or shooting the Tusken Raider before you. As they do more damage than you in the space of 5 seconds, they get the lions share of the XP for the kill, and they get the loot.

That's not how it currently works. It is who does the most cumulative damage. Meaning it is the entire group's total versus the one person's. It seems the fairest way to do it.

How is this determined?
Is the mob/NPC "locked" by the group or solo'er that attacked it first (also like EQ2)?
Is loot rights based upon cumalative damage of the group, or the highest damage dealing person in the group?
What I am getting at is currently, a group of 20 people can lose loot rights to one player. Even though total damage by the group of 20 is greater than the one player, if that one player does more damage than the highest damage dealing person in that group of 20, the one player gets loot rights?
No, RankorCity is right. If you have a group of 20 swordsman, and an individualjedi comes up, thejedi will get loot rights since s/he does the highest individual damage... It really needs to be changed to group damage though...

(previously mentioned im sure... but im not reading through 7 pages hehe)
tiggs,
this doesnt mention the main problem thou.. does it still go on SINGLE player damage or include groups... (as it currently does....)
i.e. if mob x has 31k ham... there is a group of 2 ppl who do 20k damage combined (10k each) and 1 player not in the group who does 11k damage.. the 11k damage player will get the loot..
imo the loot system needs to be like WOW.. with mob tapping for loot rights..... imo this system makes NO difference.... people i'd hunt with in groups are people i trust anyway... so i really can't see the point of this (imo that is)
... does not address the main problem of kill stealing... :/
