Thread: ID3 Vehicle Garage Placement
Uh.. I want garage that can fix the GUNS on my speeder.
If speeder can get shot we should be able to shoot bak. Else ditch vehicle dmg and nix garages.
We only need garages if the future of SWG ground vehicles includes mounted / vehicle combat.

I like the idea of placing them at a special location (outside Starports) more than naming it on the map/registering it to the /find command. But since that makes it different from every other building, it makes no sense.
But actually, I think it's quite nice to search for a building, maybe ask a player of its location so he can direct me, so I have to place the wp myself once I've found it.
Yes Anchorhead or Bestine or both need one. If there is one in Bestine then I can't find it. This also highlights the issue of not having them on the planetary map or /find.
Do we really need more NPC garages, or just easier ways to find them? When I first went looking for one, of course I did a /find... no garage was listed... why not?
PS. Please put a basic player functional garage in for Publish 7 (prettyplease). It doesn't have to be fancy or anything, all it needs to do is repair vehicles
Add the fancy stuff later.
1. Add garages to the Planetary map. Then they will be easy to locate.
2. Put garages near the starports. Again it's the high traffic idea.
Now for the "Don'ts"
1. Don't put garages on the "high end" or more difficult world.
By this I mean don't put them in the starport locations. Those worlds should be tough and dealing with a breaking down speeder is one. Any place that you have to land at some location that looks more like an outpost or barely established research base, shouldn't have a vehicle repair garage. You might put a mechanic NPC there in the outpost. But give him a random spawn duration sort of like the shuttle. The mechanic has other things to fix than a player's vehicle. He was hired to maintain the base and is repairing vehicles as a sideline. And perhaps make it so that one of these remote mechanics might not be able to repair a vehicle fully. Hard to get parts out in the boonies you know.
2. Don't put a garage in Anchorhead. Put it at Tachi station to the south of Anchorhead. "But I was going to go into Tachi station for some power converters." Luke complained.
Why not put the garage there instead. That is if you decided to put one there.
With as many player cities as there seem to be now. You can't drive more than 2000 meters on some planets with out running into at least the smallest of towns I think. I think it would be more feasible to link the level a player city gets a shuttle port to the level they can have a garage. Or to expand on my mechanic suggestion let player cities get garages right off, but have the quality of the repair tied to the city level. Nothing too drastic, Either have it cost more to get a repair done before the player city gets the shuttle or have the repair level be lower. Thus taking two or more repair cycles to get your vehicle fully repaired at one of these remote garages.
As almost everyone mentioned the problem is not that there are not many garages... The problem is that garages are not included in the /find command!
Maybe you can even rush this small change (include garages in /find) in publish 6 ! I don't know the technical details but if you can do it now it will be easier for all of us!
