The upcoming combat balance changes will begin to ensure solo players are not capable of taking out content meant to be difficult for a group of players. We will continue to refine combat balance in the future to make this more and more the reality. It will take some time.

IE Group or Die. IE if no one is around to play with you better log out because SWG doesn't want you playing this game. Nice.

this is an MMO. it is meant to be played with other people, and if you wish to play by yourself, there are many places that will allow that. there are not, however, many places that encourage using groups, as there should be. keep in mind that if you wish to attempt to solo this, you are perfectly capable of trying, so please dont complain about new content.

Couple of questions on this new dungeon:

  1. It sounds like it is using the same concenpt as WoW dungeon instancing, when players go to the dungeon, it replicates for each group. Is this the case?

  2. You mentioned that the dungeon will force, I mean encourge, grouping. What is avaliable for those of us who want to solo?

  3. Is this dungeon of reasonable difficulty where buffs are not required? The Geonosian Cave requires buffs no matter what people say.

  4. You say that there are three versions of the dungeon, a different one for neutral, imperial and reblel. I play a neutral character, can I still go dungeon crawling with my rebel or imperial friends? Likewise, can they go adventuring with me on my neutral version of the dungeon?

  5. Can the dungeon be done multiple times by the same individual / group?

I am all for this, very similar to the scalable difficulty used in Diablo 2. The loot could be dependant on the difficulty of the enemies.

After all, I just can't see old Bobba Fett trapesing around with a group of other hunters..can you?

In general, DEVs hate for people to solo content they have demmed "group only" and usually results in nerfing. I am all for maxed out characters being able to solo anything they want. After all, people play the game to feel uber, not medicore.

As for this being a MMORPG so it should require Group only area's ..........I don't buy.

I think this is a common cry from people who either like to play casually or who haven't fully mastered the combat aspect of the game. I think grouping should be for those who want to take these areas on with more ease than solo, but should not be required for 95% of the game content if you are a combat class master. MMORPG does not equal forced grouping to access game content.

First and foremost it's a ROLE playing game..........Do you know any loners in your real world?

Loners are everywhere. Again, not everyone is a socialite.

I sure do. Do I tell them to leave planet Earth because they don't like hanging out in gangs? Nope!

So, if a person wants to role play a character who is a surly loner........then there should be nice, specific dungeons and coding to accomadate that.

Agreed

In my opinion SWG doesn't do "grouping" very well, and alot of people prefer to solo.

Grouping in SWG is basically for additional damage takers, increased DPS and a rezzer.

Surely they can make dungeons that spawn on request fit the group or non-group dynamic...

It would be a novel concept (rolls eyes) that has been implemented before.

this could be cool... (personally I prefer grouping and don't see why anyone would want to play an MMO without the social aspects of it) but I'm sure you have your reasons

It SHOULD have group only content, but it should also have soloable content as well. if everything were soloable then this would be the easiest game in the world because you could group with 3 friends and kill everything.

First and foremost it's a ROLE playing game..........Do you know any loners in your real world?

as I said there should be soloable content, but not everything... do you know anyone in the real world who can single handedly infiltrate (spelling?) and take over an army base (same concept as taking over a starship in SWG)?

I sure do. Do I tell them to leave planet Earth because they don't like hanging out in gangs? Nope!

yeah you don't have to leave SWG, but maybe you should get some friends together if you wanna take on this starship.

So, if a person wants to role play a character who is a surly loner........then there should be nice, specific dungeons and coding to accomadate that.

sure... there are soloable aspects in the game, but grouping is more rewarding (as it should be)

In my opinion SWG doesn't do "grouping" very well, and alot of people prefer to solo.

yep everyone has opinions.

Surely they can make dungeons that spawn on request fit the group or non-group dynamic...

I think this would be a good idea for certain dungeons that it makes sense to. but not this one which is a heavily guarded ship that you shouldn't be able to take out with one person.

1. Yes. I just went there all by lone some, while some of my TC pals were fighting in another corvette.

2. You can't solo this POI. Believe me.

3. If you group, then buffs are not required. If you solo, you're dead as hell no matter what.

4. Good question.

5. Yes.

Make way, make way, tester coming through for a thorough bug report.

We have just gone through the entire dungeon once with a bunch of guildies, here are the full bug reports, with the quest to enter the dungeon as well as inside. I will post some screenies tomorrow if i have the time (9 hours of college lessons to attend) for the live folks...

The quest to get access:

We were all covert rebels, we took the mission at bela vistal. First of all, the NPc is confusing, he says there are 3 POIs to look at, but he doesn't say wether EACH ONE of these pois will spawn the mission item for you, or one of the three randomly. we found out it was randomly one of three. Also, he does not say to specifically look for a BOOKCASE. we ended up killing lord nyax and the entire thing, trying to open the magseals and no results, we movedon to the tusken fort.

At the fort, there were new kinds of mobs (as a guildie said, krayts on 2 legs...) AP3, 200K ham, most resists over 85%, called Tusken observer, he slain our entire party. Then, after some talk with a nice Qa person, i realised we missed the chest at nyax. we went back, i found the wrong item but some folks got the right ones. We then went back to the NPC.

BUG: The people with the right item could get infinite number of tickets, so we ended up giving each party memeber one, for good measure, we weren't sure if everyone needed it.

We went to Lt Lance. I gave leadership to the person who had done the quest. I loved this, everyone got an invite to go up, and didnt loose their tickets, this is a VERY VERY COOL FEATURE! keep it that way. a Full group can just all go to nyax's for instance, and someone will get an item and a ride up...

Now upstairs, VERY COOL ART! it looks great! We were rebels so we ended up on an imperial-filled corvette. The mobs were all easy, we were buffed and had 2 docs. But the biggest problem were the super droids, they feel right as they are now, and gave us all quite a challenge.

After 2 mins of wandering, BAM we were teleported back to the base. we wondered why, and went back up. we realised that nayone with a ticket could "shuttle up" their party members. Cool feature.

We wandered 2 minutes again, and we still got teleported back. We went up a 3rd time, and i noticed an "escape pod terminal", i hit it, and bam, back down

REQUEST: We need 2 things. 1) a WARNING explaining what this does. new people will hit it by mistake.

2) If a non-leader hits it, he should get a warning, and only HIM should be sent back down. if he goes down, and if he HAS a ticket, he should be able to go back up to his group's ship. If a LEADER hits this, he gets a warning, and all party members get ported back, OR they also all get a warning, to prevent griefing, wichever you like the best, if folks didnt warp back down, they can alwyas hit the terminal themselves.

THE DOORS: They are ALL broken. Most of the locks do not kick you out, the few doors that do have no code that works (and we went thru 3 times and got ALL the codes, none of them work.

THE CONSOLES and various datapads and controls: They do not work, simply put, they all say "Nothing happens".

The loot: A friend of mine got a new rebel allaince shirt, quite nice. also, we only killed what seemed like 20 Bulky troopers (Dark troopers?) and we got 3 holocrons. I personally got 2,a sith and a blue one, and a friend of mine got 1 also. Check to see if those DTs drop holos more often than others, or if we jsut had some awesome luck there

We cannot buff up there, is this working as intended?

Overall, a VERY COOL dungeon, but that we cannot unfortunately complete at this time, it is broken all over. There is also no NPC guiding you through it, the prisoners do not have a dialogue popup and we really didnt have a clue what we were supposed to do, beside smaybe kill the marshal behind the un-oppenable locked door...

I'll post some screens next... *YAWN*
