Thread: ID#2: Two Changes to Bazaars and Vendors
Loic>Yes I know I'll never reduce city spam but I can dream right? *grin*
Making vendors searchable by the bazaar would be an amazing addition, I have to agree with several folks who have said something like that. If I click regional, it should include all vendors within say 1.5k of the town. Planetary shows all vendors on the map and galaxywide would be foolish heh. Make all vendors searchable from the main bazaar. yes it would mean you have 8 jillion pages for things like armor etc, but you would be able to find everything easily, get a WP to where your sale was and head over there. Even better would be a 5% charge for delivery. The devs seem to always be looking for money sinks so why not this? You buy something on Talus while you're on Tatooine. You don't want to go Tat>Corellia>Talus and back for something that really isn't that expensive, maybe 10k. So you fork over an extra 500c by clicking on retrieve item and checking Yes for delivery. Answering No would of course leave it there and you would have to go get it. Make no the default if you really want to. This is a service that would be worthwhile to everyone, much like faster shuttles or 1 starport on each planet like Theed where there is no waiting ever.

I think there is both some good and bad about raising the cap from 3000 to 6000 on the Bazaar. The biggest positives I can think of is that larger quanties of resources can now be sold to others. I can put more total quanties up on the Bazaar now. I think this is a good thing both from a sales standpoint, as well as a buying standpoint. I'll be able to see higher priced weapons instead of hunting down some vendor far away from cities too.
One of the drawbacks I can potentially this may devastate thesmall housing market. Right now, I'm selling my small generics for 11k per house. I've got so many houses sitting around, that I'm tempted to firesale them for 6k apiece just to move some goods and get some cash. I think others may feel the same way.
This may also have a negative effect on people trying to get through the Merchant profession. Much of their xp relies on others hunting down their vendor and viewing items. Having the Bazzaar that convenient and covering additional items in the 3000 to 6000 range will shift some of the population away from player vendors. This is not good and I'd expect this to seriously detract from the Merchant profession.
Thanks for the opportunity to post!
yeah, lets make life for Merchants harder. The 150 item limit is a BAD IDEA. If you doubled that then MAYBE that would be alright. But at 150, my powerups vendor would have to be watched like a hawk. Enough people are already fed up with the problems with the merchant class, try not to make it worse, please. Find a way to make it better for the server on your end, don't make it worse for us to solve your problems. We just want to play a game that isn't like a Job.
Thanks for listening.
I don't know the last time I shopped at the bazaar. Quite frankly, with player cities, the bazaar has become nearly useless, except perhaps to those very new to the game. Therefore, why mess with it? There is currently no bazaar problem.
But more importantly: DO NOT LIMIT VENDORS TO 150 ITEMS! If a limit must be imposed, I think 1000 items would be ok. As a furniture supplier for my little part of the galaxy, a 150 item limit would be a horrible travisty (think about the furniture needs of just 10 people a day, in terms of the number of items they need to purchase!).
More importantly, what is being overlooked with these changes is that Player Cities need the tax revenue from their vendors. This includes the tax revenue on small ticket items as well as big ticket items. Therefore, we need to use shop vendors, not the bazaar. Changes that move sales from vendors to the bazaar hurt player cities, and potential could devistate player cities, given the high cost of maintaining a player city.
As a consumer, I don't mind paying taxes to support a player city. I do mind wasting 20/100 credits to list a single item on the bazaar.
now a nother change you could make would be hsve the next page blink when there is a next page to be seen.
Raise the price cap on the bazaar? Yes, I think that would be an excellent idea.
Cap the vendors at 150 items? Absolutely not...I have enough problems keeping my vendors stocked as it is. An idea would be to have another window on the vendor and call it 'backstock', where items identical to ones on the main sale page are held in reserve and then automatically stocked when needed. For example, I have several vendors devoted solely to selling Bounty Hunter droids. I have essentially 4 products listed : Single Seekers, Crates of Seekers, Single Arakyd's, Crates of Arakyds. When someone pulls up my vendor, all they really need to see are those 4 types of items. They dont need to see 5 pages of those items. If I had a backstock window, then the backstock could automatically replenish the sales window once my items were sold. Voila, only 4 items viewable....but hundreds of each of that item.
Now then...if the problem is basically database bloat, then you have an easy way to solve this problem. Raise the item cap on crates to 1000 (or aconfigurable crate sizewhen the schematic is created). I have 100 crates of 10 weapon powerups. WHY?!?!? Wouldn't it be better just to let me make a crate of 1000 powerups and reduce 99 items from the database?
I am a small weaponsmith and am happy with both ideas. I doubt i have 150 on my vendor now.
I would like my vendor name to update on the Ctrl+M map
I don't care about the bazaar limits, I don't use it anyways.
However, my play time is limited as well and I run the guild store. If you lower the limit the vendor limit, you just limited my time playing the game other than stockign my vendors.
The price cap is ok, but I hope the item cap is trashed. 150 items is a terrible idea....
We have vendors with a large mixture of items on them from various sellers, this will impact many players in many ways.. please reconsider or raise the amount by at least 100%.
thanks

as i a tailor i can make close to 250 different items. I can make most of those items in over 200 different colours. To offer a useful vendor service i need to offer variety of goods - in a varity of colours.
ie i might make pants shirt jacket and boots in blues, or another set in black. a limit of 150 will severely restrict what i can put on a vendor- and ill have to be standing in my shop monrning noon and night to either custom make on demand - or to keep slingning in new items as the old ones sell out. This will force me to tailor all day long and will ensure quick boredom as i wont be able to go hunt, try out content etc.
i have always got 100's of items in my tewo vendors and people can useually find something of what they want on them as they can browse.
Well Honestly Thunderheart the cap on vendor items for people like myself isn't something i would think a viable solution.
On my second account i run vendors for my guildmate he doesn't have the alloted skill points in his template to raise any business skills to be able to run one. Also another guildmate of mine is running one for our smuggler who is also pistoleer obviously again not enough skill points there. So the bazaar thing is nice but not the vendor cap. Please rethink wherever that thought came from. Consider giving us more skill points before limiting our vendors
As a ranger I sell hides that I've gatheredfrom missions so I don't have to runmissions constantly, to pay maintenance and taxes. Having to split the hides into sellable groups is not that big of a problem but it is kind of annoying to have to do for the current3k cap. I say raise the cap.
As far as the personal vendor items go, I don't think they should be changed.
