I just wanted to say i really like that idea.
I have an idea that I am borrowing from CoH and some of the other new MMORPG there and that involves singleplayer/group dungeons. Remember in Empire, how Luke had to goto the Degaba system to become force sensative? He had to do it alone.
I think it would be interesting if players players had to go and fight on their own to become force sensative. They would only have what they took with them to Degaba (i'm just using that as en example local) It would be very interesting to hear from a friend that he/she is going to try and become force sensative, and then has a week to try and complete the mission. He flies to Degaba and you dont hear from him (no tells, no guild chat, etc) for a week, or until he finishes the missions. It would all be very exciting, very personal and story driven.
Each time people tried to do it, it could be a little different... some what randomly generated, so players couldnt write a walk through to get through it, only hints.
The reason this system sounds appealing to me is that it doesnt involve grinding, you can't give a direct walk through, its available at any time to people (though it wouldn't be recommended until you are fairly confident you can do it, since if you cant it may take away a lot of play time, just a hinderence to make people reconsider going after jedi), and it could be personal. Of course, its probably really hard to implement at this point in the game developement anyway.
Thats my idea, any thoughts?

Luke was already "force sensitive" before he went to Dagobah. Recall luke using the Force in New Hope? A lot?
Luke going there would be more what the devs have in mind with the Village idea... AFTER you become FS, you go off and learn how to interact with the force... or some such thing...
And it's "sensitive"! not "sensative"
wt.h is it about that word that no one can spell it correctly???
1) Jedi will become relatively rare again(which they are supposed to be)
2) Jedi will become a more undesirable profession for griefers and powergamers
3) Thevisibility penalty could be reduced for Jedi in game so they can do missions with non-Jedi guildmates
4) The devs could allow more people to unlock and enjoy the experience of training to be Jedi without turning every server into a Jedi-fest. There would be no need to make force sensitivity mysterious and everybody gets a chance.
5) More players would continue playing with their alt-character
6) Time spent with a Jedi character would then be a precious commodity and it would be harder for some players to get an advantage just by being online for longer
8) Becoming a high level Jedi would be about patience, perseverence, attention span and committment. These apply equally to light and dark side
Just my 2 credits worth

How about only the GM and certain people can unlock you? It would probably be a monthly event in which only 1 or 2 would be chosen and one helluva massive event. And make for some interesting roleplaying. It would have to be imps do one thing one place and rebs do one thing another place
I think the GMs would probably have you do certain tasks for them or something or give you a test for your certain field.
I think we should have event like this in which a very few players get jedi lets make jedi something special thats a status symbol in the game not someone you look at and go OH he ground out holos for a month.
Naw. Then you just turn it into a popularity contest.
There is no way to have people (yes, GMs are people too!) choose who gets to be FS. That system will always be unfair (or at the very least will be perceived to be unfair) to the entire player base.
no can do.
