Thread: The Path of the Jedi: Reckoning of Effort
This is my only question.
I understand about the hologrinding, I wish i had the patience to do it,
but i took a hiatus because that was really too much i felt, too much
meaningless macro making button pushing, and that's not very fun.
I did however manage to master three professions before the publish
10
They were medic, marksman, and artisan. Granted, they are starting professions,
but the way I chose to make my character, a LLC usin CH'n medic, did not allow
for me to go around grinding mindlessly, not really enjoying the path I was taking.
So, after i quit for a few months, I return to find all my belongings intact, sanz the housing,
because a word aquaintance had explained to me the changes being made to the whole
system, and the recent at that time announcment of my much anticipated expansion,
JTL
So anyway, I logged on today after the patch, put on my goggles that i paid 80 bucks for on the
first day of release, and typed my /che.
It says to me that i have a faint sense of the force. I have a few badges, many POI, events, nothing
major. My question is this, what determines whether you are glowy or not? And what can be done
to modify it. As in, if I master another proffesion, will that change my group status? Or, are we now permanantly
resigned to the groups we fell into at the release of publish 10? It would be really nice if anyone could clear this
up, I waited over a year for it to be released, played in beta, bought the collectors edition, and all Ive ever
wanted to do is swing a lightsaber, follow the path of the jedi, and fly a space ship. So if anyone at all
can clear any of this up, it would be greatly appreciated.

TH,
Just wanted to let you know there are some individuals, regardless of how many professions we have mastered, that are very greatful for the content that this adds to the game. I have mastered a few professions in my 13 months playing SWG and I want to go through the entire path of becoming a Jedi. I want to experience becoming a Jedi the way it was meant to be aquired and enjoy the storyline in the process. Will we be required to "skip boxes" if we wish to become a Jedi. Can we complete the entire storyline and if so, do we just "surrender" points as we do with our regular professions?
Oh, I've played from the beginning, I've paid from the beginning, and I've done the grind.... I have NOT ONE COMPLAINT about SWG. This game is a 70's SW fans dream come true. Take heart TH, there are those of us that can "keep their perspective" in relation to this game and a little thing we like to call "life." You guys are doing a fabulous job. I can't wait to see what SWG will become in another year.
Man, wait'll this guy finds out that the quests are fun, but that three hours later, you're done, and in addition to some very nice lewt, you unlock... a 70,000,000 combat XP grind. Per branch! Hee-hee!

This makes little sense. In one statement, TH says that those who HAVEN'T hologrinded at all are in "Group 4" and are gated, and in another breath he says "if you qualify under the NEW system, you are eligible for a visit immediately."
Well, I didn't hologrind at all - in fact, I've never owned a holocron, except for a Sith Holo that I keep as a decoration. I've done 5 professions in the year I've been playing - Tailor, Merchant, Marksman, Teras Kasi, and Artisan, and there's no way that I hit all 5 holo-professions by blind luck. But, I've done all the POIs and have enough other badges to be "one with the force", so I qualify under the new system.
Well, which is it?
Should I expect a visit in the next 72 hours? or in the next 72 weeks?
?????
This is the question EVERYBODY is asking, and NOBODY is getting an answer to. I find this level of customer service appaling, that we are all being subjected to anger, greif and arguments over this game because nobody will step up and give us the explanation we deserve.

Craxus wrote:TH and Devs.3. People who did squat for a year, then 2 days ago went and got badges. I have no patiences for this type. YOu knew a year ago to grind professions yet you didn't do it. You waited for a quest based system, you got it and you still complain cause you have to take more time to get what you want. This makes zero sense. If you knew to get a jedi you needed to grind you should have started the grinding. Why did you wait? Cause you thought it would be handed to you on a platter?IT nothing in my eyes.
You have been playing you profession to the fullest. Good why be a Jedi then. If you wanted a Jedi you gave up the right to play your profession to the fullest.
This is nothing but whining.
IT's like someone tells you if you want to be buff you need to go to the gym everyday to be buff. As a response you tell them no Ill wait for steriods to be legalized.
Then as you siit and do nothing that would actually get you to your GOAL, others go to the gym and work out, and guess what? Their buff!!!!
So finally the day comes and they legalize Steriods, but guess what you still have to work out some to get benifits and it still takes time. So you complain so more.
Sorry, but it is disgusting to hear people whime cause they don't get what they want right now. The arguement I paid 15 bucks a month to play this game I should ahve a Jedi for doing nothing it is pointless.
You knew that getting a Jedi would be hard and time consuming last year. before the game came out, and now you complain?
I don't get it. You should have holo grinded, you were dumb to stop, why play your profession to its "fullest" when your just going to drop it for a Jedi anyway?
The point: You can't have your cake and eat it too!
The hologrind was assinine. This is a RPG not a grind-as-many-professions-as-you-can game. It was a stupid stupid way to do anything. I actually play the game. That is not "doing squat". I am willing to bet that I have been more places and seen and done more things in this game than you have ever thought about. I found pois before they were on the data pads. I did the rebel theme park when the best thing you got was Ackbar's stupid flight suit. Dont even think that because you did however many profs in a timeframe that you are some kind of power player or 133t player. You are not.LOL. Your still whining.
I knew exactly what to do to get a Jedi, and I didn't do it but I deserve credit. Come on! The hologrind is IMO the dumbest thing since the hanging chad!!! I did it anyway. Trust me you haven't see ore of the game than me. I all but a couple of badges. I was in every story arc. I did the Imperial theme park when you got a freakin slave collar! I didn't grind until after I had as a commando and a bounty hunter( this is my chosen profession) when out and looked for stranded rebel pilots on dantoonie(not the yavin ones!) to get 4 holocrons. The I didn't open one until march 2004.
I am not a power player never wanted to be one. Everything I own is stock. No special armor, no krayt weapons, nothing but normal player amde goods. Im not l33t and probably neve will be.
What I do have is the drive to get what I want! When I head they where going to revamp the system I knew to get up off my butt and start grinding and I did. I did 27 profession in 3 months. I had 5 to go when I unlocked, and still had 2 weeks left!!!
SO wwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, You sat there and did your FOTM template and got your Fat loot, big deal I Freak grinded and got my Jedi.
You knew what you had to do, but you didn't do it don't blame the devs. This system is great, if I was new to the game and had ALREADY HAD A FREAKIN YEAR to get a jedi I would be very happy with it.
The net result is that the grind has not gone away. They have made promises that have not been kept. That is really the end result of this publish. The devs lie. They promised over and over to make jedi a quest based system. It is not. They refuse to answer questions. They have NOT given credit to the hologrinders as promised. The list goes on and on. I really could care less anymore about this game. I am feeling very used and lied to by our so called dev team. Its time to find a different game to play along with the other masses of people that are sick of the lies and the complete lack of content in this game along with the outright refusal to add anything worthwile. And when the question about when something worthwile comes along....the only answer we get is Jump to Lightspeed.... Lame. I refuse to spend more money than I already have just to get what I was promised in the first place. Anyway... I know that it really makes no difference but SOE will not get another dime of my money. I would rather take that money and set fire to it just to watch it burn.... At least thats entertaining.
