So how about it devs? It looks like there is an overwhelming response to make the path to becoming force sensitive somewhat known. Or at least some kind of system in that makes it so people know they are making progress towards their goal.

Hope to hear from yalls....and I hope more then anything that a change to the system is actually made

I'm sorry but you guys miss the point entirely. Yeah Jedi are a huge part of star wars, but there are HUNDREDS of games based around being a Jedi already out there; Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy, KOTOR, etc. They are all great too.

But SWG is meant to be something different - it's meant to be a virtual world. Why make it yet another Jedi game when there are tons out there already (that do it better) - we play SWG to live in the star wars universe. Every time I get on I see at least 5 Jedi, and that pulls me straight out of that universe, based on the time frame.

I think all these people saying the path should be known and easy to get are only thinking about themselves and their own jedi slot, not the state and future of the game as a whole, and what's best for it.

It should be extreamly hard and maybepartly randomthat anyone gets a jedi, there are already way to many running around and ruining the game for other people who have no interest in being a jedi (e.g. dominating POIs like the geonosian cave 24/7). By that I mean, yes, not everyone should be able to be a jedi.

People are already leaving the game because of the way it currently is. Most of us joined this game thinking and being lead to believe jedi would be very rare and special (false advertising?), but now they are as common as a normal profession with 10x more power.

One of my largest concerns over this topic is that the galaxy will become saturated with Jedi's running around and that the other professions will take on a less significant role in thegame as a result. The nature of the force and of the Jedi's has always been one of mystery and awe and I would hate to see it made commonplace and insignificant.

The force, while present in all living things, rarely manifests itself in a form capable of the powers exhibited in the Jedi. It would be an interesting dynamic to the game to see the force sensitivity manifest itself in different strengths amongthe population of any galaxy. What I mean to say is that either you are born with it, or you are not born with it. While some may note an innate ability to communicate with animals (creature handlers) or work with machinery (crafters),otherswould exhibit no force sensitivity at all. Furthermore, not all who exhibit force sensitivity would have it at alevel high enough to go on to become Jedi's (or Sith). The method in which force sensitivity levels are determined could be used to limit the total number of force sensitive characters, and furthermore the number of Jedi's in any galaxy. I do not feel force sensitivity issomething that should be unlocked, but rather something that is predetermined for every character in the game. The application of force sensitivity should be applied across all characters (how many midchlorians they have) in a way that makes sense in practical terms.

Now assuming that a character is born with force sensitivity at a level strong enough to become a Jedi, that ability should be recognizeable by those who are already Jedi (or Sith). This could help to encourage an interesting player dynamic to the game. Similar to Qui Jon Ginn and Anakin, a Jedi could recognize the strength of the force in an individual and decide to train that one in the ways of the Jedi. This would encourage a Master/Padawan relationship to the gameplay.

Furthermore, I would like to see the path to the light or dark side determined by the actual behavior of the character that is on the path to become a Jedi. You cannot, after all, have Jedi's running around slaughtering innocent people without falling to the dark side. I think of this in a way similar to how games like KnightOf TheOld Republic or Jedi Academy handled it,our actions should determine our fates (character alignment?) and this will make the whole force/jedi experience more of a role-playing experience instead of the way professions are handled today with the endless fetch, escort, or destroy quests being done over and over again.

my question to you all is:

1. SOE has already screwed up by providing a story line, then bashing it.

2. the combat proffs are so screwed up that almost everyone is getting fed up with fighting eachother and are either leaving the game and/or waiting for pub 10/JTL

3. the only thing ppl look forward to (including myslef) is an eaiser way of getting jedi character so that we can reenter the PvP field.

having said all this, i came to 2 conclusions:

1. remove the Jedi from the game. as of this point in starwars history there are no active jedi (light or dark) running around expect vader. this choice would lose alot of players, but on the whole stick to the story line and coordinate with JTL better.

2. removing all the crap between a player and their FSS. maybe not remove it all the way, but make it easy to do. because if you chose to go on with this, this game has now offically became a new version of jedi acadamy. ppl will have other proffs to help them get their FSS, but after that they will be jedi alone. in the end the only proffs left will be the non combat ones, a fue crazy bh's, and jedi.

i know what i have posted is contervosial at best, but that is the blutn truth. my solutions would piss alot of ppl off on either side of the fence, but SOE cannot remain perched ontop that fence for too much longer without losing all creditability

How many people would leave if they had no hope for becoming a Jedi ?
You say that they are like other professions with x10 power,no, there are not.
When Publish 10 will be live, after a short time there will be less and less Jedis, the FRS alone acts as a foil.
The problem is hyper complex, balance, fun for non-Jedis, fun for Jedis...it's like trying to square the circle.

I only hope that 24 August is the day of Publish 10 as promised.

I agree with this point. If the path is known you can expect to see wannabe jedi running around for atleast two months after a publish of this kind. This will seriously hurt the economy unless the path to become force sensivitive DIRECTLY involves sustaining the game economy. Either way, I personally do not want all the power gamers running around being jedi. It will ruin PvP for the casual gamer and will only take away from the roleplaying of the game. It is hard to role play when you have the immature gamers who only want to be jedi so they can feel powerful and enhance their e-fame running around killing people just because they can. Where is the role playing in that? especially when it is light jedi doing it.

i'm still of the opinion that if its a mystery... i and my $15/mo will be headign elsewhere.

I have a feeling this will be true of many veteran players that have not yet recieved a FS slot

I think you had your shot at Mysterious and look what eventually happened. It became known and it was horrible because you planned it to be mysterious (i.e. by chance ) hence no story or content to it...

So I think what should be done now is what should have been done in the first place, and that is to make the path known. Make the path to become force sensitive fun and entertaining. I think it should also fit in the story for becomming a Jedi as well. I think you should make it accessible to the power gamers as well as the non-power gamers.

The path to become a Jedi should be a choice not a chance for this is a game and it is SUPPOSED to be fun not it HAPPENS to be fun...

(supposed = choice, happens = chance )

You aren't gonna stop people from becomming Jedi so you might as well let them have fun while they are doing it...
