As of 21 June 04, the impression is:
Jedi vs Jedi: Very long duels...in 1v1 master saber seems to be the deciding factor because of extra damage
vs other professions: the word on the street is that the few melee hybrids(fencer/tkm, tkm/swordsman, fencer/swordsman) that were found to test against were able to out last jedi everytime. Jedi couldn't land a hit, especially against fencer hybrids. Accuracy and speed mods are issues, as well as defense mods and the armor factor... jedi/lightsaber toughness are interesting but don't seem to hold up compared to uber composite (except vs lightsabers).
vs NPCs: Depends on the NPC, most non-bosses (less than 25k ham) aren't too bad, its a matter of time, but some npcs are insane. Regular Battle droids even 1v1 will outlast a jedi everytime.
vs creatures: same as vs npcs, depends on the creature. Again against most its ok, the true monsters though like acklay and kryats there's no way to last even a minute 1v1.

Ok Im sorry for somewhat of a flame. But to all the people saying Fencers can beat a Jedi. You guys need to realize one thing about Jedi. They can heal Intimidate. A fencer hybrid cannot. Now while the very powerful Intimidate is in the force tree, its not going to be picked up much. Jedi also have styles that do intimidate.
While I agree, a Fencer can give a jedi a run for his money If you do not have the intimidate line. (area intimidate as powerful as intimidate 2 in master brawler) It may be tough becuase you have to spam the style that has intimidate. At which point you can kill them.
Im sorry but you guys need to stop complaining when you do not know the mechanics of the game.
So please remember, Intimidate makes Dodge worthless. Just becuase you are not speccing properly for a solo Jedi template doesnt mean you should be saying this. It will get Fencers nerf if you continue on with this. When they dont need a nerf, you need to be smart and realize if you are doing a one on one Jedi char. You NEED intimidate.
A group Jedi does not need intimidate.
Sorry for the flame, I just dont want to see another class nerfed becuase of peoples lack of knowledge about the game.

Point blank there have to be some professions that can keep jedi in check, if this is changed then jedi just flat become to powerfull and unballance the game.

Playing Devil's Advocate for you devs...
Jedi: Added Jedi Xp penalty back in for Jedi PvP deaths. This needs to remain until we can get a more elegant solution to Jedi death penalties and Bounty Hunter rewards.
If you want an elegant solution, just implement the XP penalty the same time the BH receives the 150K credit award. The Jedi doesn't lose XP from a PvP death, but rather from a bounty being collected.
