Okay, I'm pissed. Sure would be nice if Sony would fix their bugs! I finally found a white-dot farmer in the desert, and assuming it to be one of the quest farmers, ran up to speak with it. But I couldn't. Why? Because she's standing inside a rock and I can't "see" her to speak with her.

/sigh

I don't understand why it's so difficult to stop putting mission targets in trees, swoopers in walls, etc. After all this time flying around Tat working on these missions, it's frustrating to finally find one and be unable to speak to it due to these continuing bugs.

I've been skimming through this thread, reading most of the posts that contain complete sentences, and I keep seeinga recurring theme: That it is impossible to do these quests without a guide. While I agree that the quest is a lot more difficult without someone holding your hand, there obviously has to be people that did this quest without the guide... namely the people the wrote the guide. No one gave them waypoints. No one told them the answer to the BH's puzzle, or took screenshots of everything you have todo. They did all this, came to the forums, and hand-fed the information to the masses, greatly reducing the difficuly of this quest.

And people still complain it's too hard, simply because they don't have an NPC to point them to the Hermit, or a giant yellow arrow leading to a huge pillar of light that can be seen for miles.

I believethese new Hermit quests are too easy, especially considering the reward that is given for completing them.

At this time there are 5 people camping the Sennex cave, waiting for someone to enter so they can steal the crate and then the wife. Not fun. Is there any way the devs can make this spawn so only one person can take the explosives and talk to the wife?

I was very excited to attempt this quest. I had spent many hours hunting the Tatooine wastes months ago and was very proud of my Intellect and Altruism badges. I was disappointed to learn that thehermit was moved to a cave. I was even more disappointed when I arrived to discover that the cave was completely full of Squills that respawn faster than they can be killed. So, I left and don't know if I will try again. Can't there be just one fun thing in the game that doesn't require days of planning and massive combat skills? The hermit quest was just that. Now it requires numerous friends, a free night when everyone can come and, once again, the elite of the elite. If I do complete this quest, I will not be near as proud of it as I am of my original 2 badges.

Before, you had to invest the time in order to find the spawns. Anybody with 4 boxes of any novice combat profession could get the 2 available badges. The gating was wholly dependent on the players patience and persistence, not their ability to kill a squill in 2 hits.

If you ask me, the Squill Cave needs to be massively toned down. Put 1 or 2 squill per room and make them not respawn for like 30 minutes. The Super Uber Elite combat types have their dungeons where they can play. How about something for the rest of us?

Its one thing to make it hard and last longer, it isnt a good i dea to do it so tthat it stresses a player doing it.

Would you really want to spend 2 to 5 hours looking for a spawn?

Do you really consider this fun?

fix the whole issue.

Make these quests satitc spawns, or at least have them in the world but over around. If completed by someone, it shouldnt be another 3 hours before it MAY be seen again.

Due to high player demand, we have revamped and reintroduced the famed “Hero of Tatooine” quest. The quest utilizes brand new static and dynamic content. Find the hero and see if you have what it takes to acquire the Marks of Altruism, Intellect, Courage, and Honor. For players who previously completed the quest, you will retain your badges and may complete the quests from where you left off or from the beginning. To start the quest, the player must first seek out and speak with the Hermit of Tatooine…

SO, its clear its going to be popluar, lots of people going to do it, where on earth is the common sense to make it so that a lot of people can do it.

I dont understand the thinking at all

The content in SWG would be a lot more worthwhile & enjoyable if it was instanced - you did it with the Corvette, more MMO's are doing it - something like this, well, it's nuts for it NOT to be instanced.

Well, I've spent all day playing with this. On and off about 10 hours.I can't find the damn pirate spawn. I've circled the waypoints, I've killed everything that moves around the house, I've killed everything at the waypoints, I've circled the waypoints some more.

I've decided this isn't fun. Time to go watch a movie.

Anyone who spent hours and days and weeks in the desert almost a year ago to painfully get the Marks of Intellect and/or Altruism is in for a rude awakening. I had earned Intellect the old way and submitted a CSR ticket to have the item that now goes along with that badges rewarded to me. I expected this to be a no brainer. As it turns out, it was. CSR John W responded saying that he could not verify that I had never received a one-time item that cannot be dropped, moved to a backpack or traded before. If I had received it before, what the hell could I have done with it? This is another shining example of how much SOE values its veteran players. We put up with the ridiculously bugged hermit quests the first time around, continued to pay our $15 a month for a year, and now are told our efforts back then are worth the same as their customer service: not a damn thing. Here's a big thank you, SOE, from a day one player who may not see day one of year 3.

First offI have to say that the Hero of Tatooine quests are very poorly designed (AhI can see the flames coming now) unless you truly enjoy wandering around a computer genereted landscape searching for a NPC. If you do great im glad you have fun (esspecially you people who spent 3 months doing it). That said I dont completly disagree with the idea of having to search for things as part of a quest (I think its a great way to start it, not knowing where the hermit is and such), but I dont think the entire quest shoudl be that way (dont try to argue about fighting in the squill cave or the Sennox cave and esspecially not the Boar because each one take no more then 30 minutes fighting time, tops) I do agree with people who feel it should take a week or two, but not two weeks of wondering (or worse camping, ick) there has to bea better way then meaningless searching(again it would be a cool way to start it). Well those are my thoughts flame at them as you will. (Just dont try to give me some lecture on how you spent a month running around in game so that you could get a code of 0's and 1's to make the letters "...bears the Mark of Whatever" toappear in your badge box)

Courage : fine. took me about 8 hours of searching but thats fine....

Altruism : spent about 4 hours... found the farmer off i went to the cave. Started escorting the wife out. Got to the doorway and as i crossed it from inside to out she ran bank in and depsawned. So i ticketed it got told to bug it.... People suggested finding the farmer again. So off i went AGAIN. This time it took me ... prob 10-15 hours to find him again. Spoke to him... went back to cave cleared it.. started escorting the wife then the same thing happened again! as i crossed the doorway she despawned. I dont know if this would affect it.. but theres an area of the doorway that if theres an enemy on it and u try and attack it says "you cannot see that target" if i were to go across that part would the farmers wife be "unable to see me" and stop following/despawn ?

I know this is a stupid question but were you using /burstrun to escape? I hear that causes the wife to despawn.

I've looked at them in the squill caves for the hermit. Planning on finishing it soon.
