Thread: Desired Rewards
ok to me a perfect example of what more npc quests need to be like, and easy to find npcs, is the zicx bug bomb quest, took me about three hours to do, kinda cool reward, trophy item type thing yah know.
but there was a bit more depth to it than ur normal hey my partner forgot his brief case, run it to him quests, those are boring, period.
any quest that doesnt replicate a mission terminal quest is good, some minor reward that isnt great or good even but something known in the SW galaxy is worth working for, like the atst pilot helmet, or maybe some paintings for our homes, sculptures etc. i got food from an npc in mos taike that will look great on my kitchen table. things that add to realism of homes are always a plus, like maybe a rusted droid chasis or something to slump in a corner. you gotta get the idea now
To be honest Q, most of what I would have said has alrady been stated here . . .
1) A way to incorperate crafters in loot or loot drops ( you have already dont this in many places, good job
)
2) Unique items for completion of static dusgeons and quests ( Paintings, bantha statue . . etc etc. Ever played UO?
People love this stuff )
3) Not sure if it was mentioned . . my idea . . BADGES. WE DO NEED ARE STINKIN BADGES! I id the Imperial Theme Park . . and Jabbas . . . . did the Imp theme park at the temple and the Salavage Yard ( thats what i called it ) On Yavin 4 . . Did the Theme Park for the Jedi Prisoner on Dathomier . . and just started the ones on Dantooine . . and no one knows I did them all but me.
Sure personal satisfation is great, and I did them knowing full well thats all I would get, but not only would I like some kinda item I can get a great gun putta, or stick in my house for people to " Ohhhh " and " ahhh " over, but how about a badge for it? You would see people doing ALOT more of these static quests when they checked someone out and saw they had a badge they didnt . . . " Hey Bro where did you get that badge? " . . . " Dath at the Imp Prison " . . . " Oh Nice! Didnt know about that one! Thanks! " . . .Im sure you get the idea ![]()
Otherwise I LIKE your player based economy, and trust me , I have played them ALL.
Hope this helps. ( or you get the chance to read it
)
I think the loot for difficult dungeons should be stuff that crafters can use to improve weapons and armor, like the krayt tissue.
I've noticed while running main "chains" of missions, that upon completing a mission an object is played in my inventory, to return to the mission giver presumably to prove I finished it. It seems odd that someone went ahead and designed all these neat items, yet they serve little to no purpose.
For example some things Ive recived during missions - but dont get to keep include the following :
Rebel Special Forces Vibroknucklers(no stats)
Stranded Rebel Officers Pistol
Arthuots Armor(sp? the "padded" chest plate of the leader of the first settlers on Tatooine)
Just have quests give out token items, like the ones I mentioned, that do not function, but are neat and collectable. You already have some in place - AT-ST pilot helm for example. It doesnt hurt the economy, and its neat.
Also maybe just make a myriad of badges. Many missions(Like Emporeres Retreat) are large scale, but dont even give a badge, which is dissapointing.
I don't expect to get some uber gun or lewt in this game - precisely becasue it is a player run economy, but when there is no tangiable or intangible reward whatsoever, whats the point? It's not like any missions Ive encountered in this game are anything except 2 varieites. Kill something, or talk to an NPC. So there is little fun in actually doing the missions for the heck of it.
So to sum up, useless but neat item rewards, and badges.
How about some simple Items like those u get in almost EVERY RPG?
A necklace with special attribs, rings, bangles and such stuff.
Would be MUCH more interesting than doinseveral missions for jabba and getting stuff like broken handhelds or a weapon, which one can´t use.
Pfeiffer, Dirk - Bounty Hunter , Bria - currently not able to move!!!!
P.S.: Currently I am thinking about leaving this game, cause I somehow entered a bridge on Endor at position 2061 2131, which I am NOT ABLE TO LEAVE. No reaction from devs or in-game bug report so far since TWO hours
What I would like to see is:
Skill Enhancers, better ones.........specific ones that go with your specific skills.
Schematics is a great idea...........or just more components......the krayt tissue and krayt armor idea are superb................keep those going with variations, stay with what works..................
Badges of course.........................
More unique stuff that can be used, worn, etc.....
I agree with the idea of uber schematics as loot. The fighters find them and the crafters make them-limited use of course.
As far as desired loot for a dungeon, etc, I'd like more class-specific items. I also think this game should have unique items. One of a kind things that are basically trophies such as Mace WIndu's lightsaber or a helmet from a clone soldier from Ep2.
I want my own personal Ewok.
Now that would be some badass loot.
As a weaponsmith, the LAST thing I want is more loot like Krayt tissues. Let me explain the problem with this type of loot.
One problem is that it now requires a player who obtains such loot to find a crafter to make it into something useful. There is SO much demand for Krayt guns, it's created an insane amount of work for crafters to keep up. But that's only part of the problem.
The bigger problem lies in the fact that it requires complete trust in your crafter, and for those who don't understand how crafting works, it can create discontent and bad feelings all around when things don't go perfectly, which happens. Most combat folks just don't have a cluehow crafting works, and when a result is bad, they wonder if the crafter has been totally honest with them.
In other games, there is a mechanism for the customer to follow the results of their crafting. If we are going to have more loot like Krayt tissue, this is a must. Ifa craftercrit fails on an assembly with Krayt tissue, there MUST be a way for the customer to see that result, and know that the crafter did not just make up a story to keep the item. Not only that, equally important is a way for them to watch and follow the experiments. If I'm making a Krayt pistol for somebody, two mediocre successes will result in a pistol that's no better than one made without Krayt tissue. Customers have to be able to see that, so they know the crafter is not trying to pull a fast one.
What I would like to see more of, in terms of loot, is prestige loot. Something rare, unusual, or just plain cool that I can put in my house, on my person, whatever. Stuff that's fun. Actually some of the interesting weapons that have dropped, that include special attacks, or special DOT's, etc. are pretty cool, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest that combat folks can get some interesting stuff that's not crafted.
This would keep the crafters in the game and not make their products obsolete.
If this was the way you went you would need to insure that the quest cannot be run again and again to stockpile said loot.
Certs for rare weaps, crafters can run for schems for said rare weaps. An easy way to make sure the loot isn't sellable by the " god fighters" is to make it an "intangeble" reward, like certs. Limit schem runs on rare weaps to 100, and do not require sub components to run them but several specific not so rare rescources ( as you may have to wait a while for certain rescources to pop )
Not sure if having the rescources needed be randomly generated would be viable, it would defeat the hoarders, but it would hamper production if unreasonable combos were generated.
I support drops that can be integrated with crafters. So give us some rare components that aren't beyond what crafters can do but would be quite rare (only master crafters with the best resources). Then we can take the drops to have something made or sell them.

I wonder if it would be possible to have a 'fruit salad' of badges/medals you can actually wear on your jacket like what the U.S. military has?
I also have to mention what Luke and Han got at the end of Episode IV. Medals. Actual wearable medals, and maybe you can give artisans a schematic for a medal/award/trophy display case. You can also give some kind of very unique singlereward for doing a LOT of large quests/dugeons to motivate people to do them all.
Or maybe special profession titles for whatever profession you used on the quest. Dark Jedi Sniper or Jabba's Avenger for instance, and maybe a nice title for getting several special titles.
On a side note, would it be possible to have a graphic in the examine screen for a badge? Right now just having the "Has investigated Project Dead-Eye" thing is kinda ho-hum.
