Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 4-19-04)
Right, here is what we need.
I am not trying to nerf combat medics or anything, but the reason why they are so powerful and own in PvP is because there is no defence to their attacks. So basically it goes through every bit of armor, goes through every defence skill mod, sometimes it even goes through walls. Now imagine if another combat profession had that advantage. People would be crying and screaming all over the place. We NEED defence to poison and disease, this is obvious as the first attack by a combat medic is ALWAYS some fort of poison or disease, from that moment, that first few seconds, the duel is over. the combat medic wins.
I thought you wanted PvP to last more than 15 seconds, because at the moment it doesnt. I was defending my city when i got poisoned, diseased, bleeding, dizzy stunned and intimidated. Now then i was just a tank for my guild mates to attack from range. But a -200 to mind every 5 seconds is completly stupid. DoT attacks are completly stupid. I hate DoT attacks they are pointless in PvE and are too powerful in PvP. they should be removed and replaced with an initial amount of damage, and then some sort of temp skill loss. Like 150-200 damage taken off initially and then a negative defence skill added to you untill it is cured or stopped.
Its why I dont enjoy PvP anymore, what is there to enjoy about being poisoned from range then shot in the head multiple times without being able to attack back once?
Concept: PvP Kill Tracker
As an additonal option on the radial menu over a character much like an examine window a 'Ratio' option. This option would pull up a window that allows you to view the character on the right hand side and on the left hand side show the PvP kills the character has gotten. Alot of players like to try and track their kills and are proud of such facts. Perhaps instead of an alternate radial menu item just in the examine window you can slide the image of the character to the left and make a right hand column with this information (thus having 3 columns in the examine window). Also players would be able to view their own kills by selecting their character options (Ctl+O i believe) and click on a Ratio tab that is now beyond the Factions tab. The list could be pulled from the character list database and place what rank in the oposing faction they hold along with the date of the DB and possibly the guild of the player. This would allow people to make a trophy or what have you with a name and date that they can alternativly place in their home.
Initally i had thought of a data disk that could be displayed but threw that idea out and figured this would be the most viable solution. I know alot of players that play for PvP would find this a real neat feature. It would also give you a reason to examine someone everytime you met them =]

The radar is supposed to represent the senses that you can't recreate in a game (smell, feeling-as in I can feel a presence, taste?). Since all humanoids in the game have the senses, you couldn't remove them from the game.
Great news!
We were in an operations meeting today and the issues of these quests came up. Everyone agreed that this is an important issue and I endorsed the fact that this is a top player issue. Everyone agreed and we're moving forward. I had a follow up meeting with Runesabre and we will be getting these up to muster in Publish 8!

HOW BOUT DEALING WITH THAT! Been broken since day one over 9 months!
What exactly is the purpose of Apprentice Points? I don't know what purpose developers had in mind originally, but whatever it was, it has been completely lost. If it was to encourage people to train each other,it's completely unnecessary.People (including myself)provide free training regardlessof how many APsthey have... And with current level of inflation on all servers spending 1k-10k per skill boxby training with NPCs isreally not a big deal especially in elite professions.
Maybe there should there be something behind Apprentice Points? Something to make getting "master" more fun and something to be proud of? Like maybe some quests for AP? Or make profession masteries contingent on completing certain quests instead of wasting time spamming star ports?
A) Improve the star warsyness:
- Add Droid Parts. heads, armslegs laying around.
- Add a glow to droid eyes, they should glow in the dark (would be cool in a dungeon...)
- Add horror/sci-fi creatures rather than another fox, boah or cat. Think about the DS-garbage-thing, the thingin the dagaobah-water, the tentacles which came out of the prison cell in jabbas palacegrabbing for C3PO.
- Addhuge machineswhich gives you the feeling being small. Maybe those machine pose a peril. In Star Wars, machines stomp, crush, desintegrate, melt, freeze, torture... they have something spooky
- Make things Bigger!Things in SWG are too flat, houses too small.HQs/NPC-Basis are always underground. Galaxies need really large, high buildings, towers and huge fortresses.
- Improve"light situations" Withlight-setting it could be done much more. Corridors and HQ-interiors could look a way more interesting, if there are some dark cornersor colored rooms with e.g. red lights. Especially the emperors retreat (vaders room e.g.) need work.
- Improveemperors retreat two sithlord and a mansion in the green does not fit together. They deserve a dark place.
- Add Bacta in medicines and stimpacks, add bacta tanks.
- Add holograms. If we can see far objects with /examine, it might possible to have hologram transmissions for roleplay purposes. Give guild-leaders, politicians and others spider-droids which carry holograms. The player would lock himself at a 'Holo-Station' and can then move the spider-droid around. Why not allow players to play a droid in the same way (with no skills, just talking and roleplaying). Make it so, that you can see the owner / user. If the droid gets reported, the script would pass it to the player controlling it.
The BOLD Starwarsyness LINE: More Fantasy, more fear. I like your realistic touch but you carry it to express. Your wildlife is made out of foxes, boars and dinosaurs, the planets look way too realistic. There are no huge bases or fortresses,no disgusting creatures with tentacles. You have the tools, so place a giant tower surrounded by dark clouds for vader. Make spooky dark bases with droid heads with glowing eyes laying around, and things like that...
B) Game mechanics.
- Death penalty is always time. So why not imprison players, as long as it pushes them not into a passive role. Rebels with -5000 should take consequences when being incapped by imperial NPCs. It could be an adventure. jail breaking with other prisoners, or with outside help could be done cool and innovative. That way, players could meet all the star warsy effects above. They could creep through a large machine, swim through dangerous water with a THING in it and much other to escape. You have the imperiale prison, and jabba is a friend of feeding prisoners to his pets. Why not make an arena, where the master wants two prisoners fight each other. It would cost only a few wounds and a clone-warp for the looser of such places.
- More transparence. There are 9 pools, 3 major pools, many different damage types, resistances, skillmods, armor-rating/piercing, all sorts of buffs, modifiers, 75% pvp reduction.... You still need a calculator to find out the damage-output of a weapon. You do not know if the stun weapon is better than the t21. The damage types do not mean anything, theyareonly tied to vulnerabilities and resistances (and most armor have the same set of vul and resis.) The only effect is to have 9 weapons with you, you have to switch. When e.g. heat, lightingand stunare always together in the same resistance/vul combination, why you need 3 different damagetypes, when it does one?
- The Master cap the combination of certain professions makes a kind of meta-class which consumes all skillpoints and make you a better fighter (e-g in pvp...). This pvp-templatesdestroy the original idea of having multiple professions to have a wider variety of possibibilities. Since pvp tends to allow only players who are at a cap, it forces others to make pvp-templates as well. The Master titleof the professionmust be the cap, since master is master! Stats which came from different professions should not stack at all. They mustonly be active with the weapon equipped
C) Community Issues
- Devs? What happened to Mr. Coster and Blackman? They used to explain general descisions, what is missing a lot. The forums seem to be empty without general design philosophy posts. Especially nowadays nobody knows in what direction the game is evolving. We do not know nearlynothing about your future pvp-plans, about how you plan to improve star warsyness, about what kind of content you aim for (still all random? dangerous zones of new creatures like EQ? more loot? less loot? improvments of cities? Pvp as endgame?). This is tied to your new forum policy. You might got ridof whining and destructive postings, but you got rid of interesting discussions as well.
- Error 404 I still have problems with the login to the forums. Some login pages send you to an error page, sometimes you are logged in, but it says you are not. If you then go to "my account" you find yourself logged in, but forum still says you are not... and it does not accept cookies... I surf with the standard explorer...
Ok thats it... next block next week ![]()
LETS SEE SOME BAR FIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay, i came to swg a noob to mmorpgs, so forgive me if im acting off the wall here. to kill somone else, you have to duel them or be part of the GCW (TEFs and overts). okay,we have lots of emotes like /punch, /bakhand, /slap, and even /bodyslam. lets see these do damage. i mean crap damage, like 50 pts. no reductions from armor or those pesky 75% PvP reductions. i mean like duke it out if someone insults your wife/guild/faction/work/etc.i would love to see this. more for RP purposes, but hey. and yes this idea is screaming "GRIEF TOOL" but its 50 points of dmg. and how about if someone civily attacks you (thats what ill call this, "civil attacking" (what an oxymoron) ), you have the option to /ignore. and you can be "civily attacked" by one person at a time to event taking 1k points of dmg say if you were mugged by a whole guild.
to make this even cooler, smuggler could get a "kick dirt" (civil attacking) ability that slows the other person's attacks. and specials acording to species. a zaberak headbut for example. (im not going to get into my speicies/ environmental consiquences rant). OH and how about throwing drinks (and making a 10 second flame DoT vunrability). i think it would be cool to be jumped by a guy in a back ally of mos eisly saying "gimme 500 credits or ill pound your skull in!" (well, as a RPer i think that would be cool)
thanks for listening.

Give us the ability to hide our online status and if this trigger is enabled also no one should be able to see that we are connecting and being unable to send a tell to someonewho is on stealth mode . Lots of carfters would prefer that kinda option because ure telled to death. they dont stop if u just dont answer they're telling telling telling all day long and u only get into absurd discussions for example: want things that couldn't be build this way and dont want to accept that its not possible unless u explaned them the whole crafting process. Thats sóoooooo boring .
