Thread: Vehicle Issues...
I also have the problem where repairing the vehicle at the garage does not carry through after bike has been stored. I've repaired the bike to full, stored, and called the bike and had damage come back. I have done this several times, numerous times in succession, and repairs will not stick. I get about 100 damage to the bike every time I store it and call it.
Also, autostore is not predictable, though it is repetitive. I took three sets of two missions each tonight. On the first two sets of missions, the bike autostored as soon as I started combat. On the third set of two missions, the bike did not autostore for either mission. It did, however, autostore without warning when I was about 450 meters outside Moenia returning from the second mission in the third set. Also, it was during these three sets of missions that all but two pieces of my brand new set of advanced padded armour disappeared, which I had had for less than an hour when it vanished completely from my inventory. I lost six pieces of armour altogether.
The armour was actually equipped on my body when it disappeared, and it was the second time in an hour that it vanished...the first time, all eight pieces disappeared while equipped, but a relog brought them back. The second time, six pieces disappeared permanently. I also lost a pair of regular boots and a pair of regular gloves. Yes, I submitted a ticket.
I thought this was worth mentioning here because there has been an unusually high number of autostores for me tonight (almost every one-two minutes) as well as the disappearing inventory items, and they may be somehow related since they all occured in the same timeframe. Though I've been having frequent instances of items vanishing from my inventory lately, I have never before had items I'm actually wearing on my body vanish without a trace. Needless to say I'm kind of crabby about it.
I have never had a problem trying to store the bike, which is a swoop.
Hope the feedback helps and we see some fixes soon. Good luck!
It's only happened to me twice so far, both times while sight-seeing on Rori. Vehicle is a speederbike.
First Time: Visited the Rorgungan swamp town. Noticed that Captain Hassk was flagged as aggro but wasn't attacking me. Decided to get closer. Ended up driving out onto the pier and parking in front of him. Got off of the vehicle to converse with him. Used a /mount speederbike macro to mount the bike to drive away, and got an "out of range" error message. Looked around, the vehicle was gone. Ran far enough from the POI to set up a camp, vehicle was stored on datapad and I was able to call it.
Second Time: Absolute middle of nowhere, on a ridgeline maybe half to three quarters of a kilometer northeast of PvP battlefield #2. Stopped on the ridgeline to re-mask my scent, which consists of runninga macro to /dismount;/pause 1;/maskscent;/pause 1;/mountSpeederbike. As soon as I dismounted, the vehicle autostored.
Theory: The second one stumps me. But the first one is consistent with a lot of the other reports, maybe two thirds of them - it happened within 5 meters or a building entrance, or right after driving within 5 meters of such an entrance. You know how vehicles were supposed to auto-store if you tried to drive through a building entrance? And you know how the client and server are capable of disagreeing with each other about your location by as much as five meters at any given time? Check to see if the vehicle-autostore code is being sufficently careful to verify that the client agrees that the driver is trying to enter a building before calling the autostore routine.
If this is what's going on, then it is just barely possible that I passed within 5 meters of such a building without knowing. NPC camps sometimes spawn around me or right behind me when I'm driving. Some of those camps use the same building design as merchant tents for one or more interior structures. If one of those spawned along my path but I was past it before it rendered on my client, then report #2 could also be consistent with my theory.
After repairing your vehicle, it will vanish after like 5 mins or so, and it will keep vanishing until you store it correctly yourself.
What seems to work for me is, each time i repair my vehicle, i store it then recall it. I also had problem with my repairs being lost after an autostore, so i do this to prevent that also.
I'll give you as much info as I can remember off the top of my head. This has happened to me a few times in about the same spot every time.
Just outside of Dearic on Talus I get on my Swoop bike. I'm headed toward my Player City on the far west-central part of the map. Everything is normal until I get to somewhere between 1k - 2k meters out. All of a sudden my Swoop poofs and I'm running. It has happened to me a few times on that same trip from Dearic to our city.
There is one other odd thing I noticed. Once while in Dearic again, I paid 3100 credits to repair my Swoop at the garage. Without storing it afterwards, I climb aboard and head to our Player City. When I get to to the spot I mentioned earlier, it poofs. So, I made a camp and pulled it out again. However, instead of being fully reparied, it went back to it's previous state it was in before I reapaired it. After this happened, I went back to Dearic to repair again. This time, after I repaired I stored it. I then pulled it out again. The next time it poofed it was fully repaired like normal.
I hope this helps. If you need more info such as the exact location of my PA city, just let me know and I'll get it. The city is called Veritas on the Starsider server. It shows up on the planetary map.
Thank you for reading!
What the first poster mentioned is caused by the vehicle getting stuck on an structure.
Sometimes it happens that you can go through places you normally cant go, like through a house or over the edge of stairs. After you did this you see no difference on your client, but the server couldnt move the vehicle through the obstacle and still thinks it is at the spot it got stuck.
When this happened you cant store it in the radial menu anymore, since it is "out of range"... at the place where it got stuck. When you dismount it there is the possibility it jumps back to the spot it got stuck, if that spot is close. If the spot is far away the link between the vehicle your sitting on and the vehicle which got stuck somewhere is lost. I assume that the cleanup code will delete such a vehicle after a certain time, even though youre sitting on it, since the server thinks your vehicle is somewhere else, stuck at a wall.
For other players you appear to be stuck at the same spot your vehicle got stuck btw, even though youre at another place. I was visiting the abandoned rebel base with a friend and she got stuck on some stairs. I thought she is 5m away from me and wondered why shes sitting there on the stairs and not moving. Then i got a tell from her asking where I am, since she waited in the base already, about 700m away, even though i still was only 5m away from her on my client.
I have seen this in several cases now.
On Naritus, Naboo, Sunday 21.
Myswoop vanishedthree times in the sourroundings of Emperors Retreat, while making those Imp Missions (direction between Moenia and Retreat).
FromThead I made another Impmission. I gave a NPC two dots from far away and retreated to about 200, while getting some sereous hits. After some time his ham was down to "0" but he still walked arround. I advanced to give him another shot, but he vanished about 100m away from his camp. SoI got back to the camp, where a new and healthy NPC had spawned. He was about 50m away. Standing about 10m from my swoop I gave hima Dot .Next quarter of a second he stood exactly next to me and incaped me. While being incaped he gave me the great opportunity to watch, how he demolished my newely built swoop till it exploded.
I´m not so sure if NPC should really be supposed "deathblowing" bikes instead of their owners, in other words this is disgusting.
1. Autostore
- If I check the status of a harvester while mounted in a vehicle the vehicle will autostore.
This only happens for the status window, the operate machinery window does not have this problem.
- Entereing and exiting a exploration location (badge awarded) will autostore the vehicle. This happened at the escape pod location on corbanitis, tatooine.
2. Camps
If someonelse sets up a camp and enters his vehicle and rides 5 m away, I cannot generate my vehicle. Even if I am still in his camp. I get the message stating that I can only call a mount while in a camp or outside in a city. If I step away form teh camp it disbands immediatly.
