at most, a player character can have about 100 items on their person - 150 in the bank-
150 in 5 houses - 750 -
this means the average player maxes at 1000 items
a less scrupulous player might use factories for storing their goods....that extends the range significantly ... but exploiting Vendors this way allows you to store significantly more items than the rest of us.
You - the people who use their vendors as personal storage spaces are the problem

yep, its amazing how some people are. They yell and complain and cry when they're told they wont be allowed to store an infinate amount of items.

My calculations go like this: 1000 units, in 10 factories(100 units per). 100 units in the bank. 110 units on your person(60 naturally hold, 50 backpack). so thats 1210 items total a person has direct access for storage. The other problem is loot compoents even with the same serial number do not stack, rancor bile, rancor teeth, janta hide, segments.... actually it would be nice if they came crated, I wouldn't care how a crate got on a rancor, I would laugh at it, but I would be like, "its in the game and it could be worse" Although Powerups crating at 10 really limits my artisan from doing anything extraordinary with the vendor. That's 6.6 factory powerup runs. 66000 resources, even a nub can get that. 660 and I would have to be master merchant.

what? you dont store items in the input AND output hoppers?

The dev team would never allow any kind of imbalance so that one group of people would "cut swaths" through crowds of people.

TH,

Instead of putting item caps on merchants, can't we make a few small adjustments to way the merchants work?

For example, I'm a weaponsmith, I have a vendor specifically designated for pistols, he's labeled "Pistol Vendor" (yeah yeah, original, I know). Lets say I make a crate of DX2's, FWG5's, Scout Blasters, Striker Pistols and Tangle Pistols to put on the vendor.

Now, under the current set-up, to put all of those items on the vendor would take up 125 spots, and take up database space for all of the items.

Can't the system be changed though, where I could keep the items stored up into the crate, and when my customer buys a tangle pistol, the item is then pulled from the crate, leaving me with a crate with 24 items in it, and the customer with an item.

This would take up 5 spaces of database space, be much efficient, much more user friendly for myself, and for my customers. It just makes sense from all standpoints that these are the types of changes towards vendors that need to be made. How many items on vendors right now are factory run/identical items? I'd be willing to be at least 50% of them, if not 75%, only loot drops and tailor items are not usually factory run in-game.

I think the wrong approach is being made. I think their are ways to alter the vendor system, that both solve the problems caused by them on the Development/Database end and the user end, that are going to be mutually positive. These are the approaches I would love to see the team make.

What exactly does this mean? What is going LIVE tomorrow in terms of vendor limits? This is what the community wants to know.

No vendor changes are happening tomorrow.

Is it someone's job to update the In Testing page? It is still warning us about the changes coming for 9.2. Nostalgia is great, but we need info!

I need to hit Ticketmaster.com and see when A Flock of Seagulls is playing.

TH,
Can you PLEASE tell me that the sytem to become FS isn't finished? I mean, at this rate 95% of the population will be FS, and probably 75%+ Jedi. With the badge system, you can become FS in around a day and 1/2. Can you PLEASE tell us that the system isn't complete yet?

WTFH are you smoking?? No one has become FS yet at all with the new system. In fact no one even know's how to. Please stop reading the random post of people posting about rumors they heard and assume that it's fact. Either go test it yourself or read from people that actually did it themselves.

I talked to someone on TC, and they said that by getting badges, you can get up to 'you feel the force glow inside you' or something like that. That is aka FS. If it IS finished...

I am on test center. By using a hidden command you can get a message that says different things about the force from "You feel a faint sense of the force" to the "You feel the force glowing inside of you". This however gives you no FS slot or powers. It is possibly a prerequisite for begining the quests to become FS but no one knows yet.

PS. Whoever one starred me for stating some facts is pathetic. Made me laugh when I saw it. Somehow they think that one starring is some horrible punishment. lol.

For all of these items, the final answers are still being discussed and debated. In the meantime, I wanted to give you an update on some subjects everyone wants to hear about:

TH, I'm wondering why topics like this are being debated? You're pushing the code to test already, yet you're still deciding what to do. Stuff like this should have been debated 3 months ago.

Please realize we suspect the Dev team of using a "bait and switch" tactic to manipulate us into accepting a low number for the cap. With that in mind, please know that I, personally, would not accept anything less than:

Bus 3 - 50 items

Bus 4 - 60 items

Novice Merchant - 100 items

Each Tier 1 Merchant Box - +10 items

Each Tier2 Merchant Box - +15 items

Each Tier3 Merchant Box - +20 items

Each Tier 4 Merchant Box - +25 items

Master Merchant - +120 items and an additional vendor (7)

This puts the per vendor limit at 500 for a Master Merchant

3004 Merchant is 215 per

3402 Merchant is 245 per etc....

Thsi is my low-ball "offer". What do you think?

And it is these typical answers that have helped me decide to leave the game. Even if TH said "This is what we are planning but it can change tomorrow" would be nice.

I normally don't say things like this but, dude, grow a set.

TH,

I may be a naive, but can you explain what do WE THE PLAYERS get from this limiting of vendor items? You are asking us to change the way we play this game in a significant manner, yet you and SOE/LA have offered nothing in return for our sacrifice. Limit vendors and items, but give us stack size increases to 1000 for crated items and let us stack our resources as high as we can. Take all the worthless loot (data disks, stone knifes, CDEF weapons etc) out of the game or at least make them generic items so they only take up one instance in your database with multiple values. Make it so looted items such as janta hide and NS shards can be stacked, and while your at it, give us a closet in our houses that act like a backback to hold items so we don't have to throw them on the floor or use up a precious space with a backpack.

You want us to give up a lot, now it is time for you to do the same.
