Thread: Desired Rewards

Another thought....

Perhaps at the end of the quest when you talk to your Quest Finisher NPC they could give you a list of stuff to choose from, similar to the faction recruiters list of requisitional items. That way there could be a nice variety of stuff, and each player could choose what they wanted to get as their reward for the quest. That way everyone would be happy (instead of having one set item that may or may not be useful to players). It would also give the quest repeatable value since you could do again (a week later hopefully) and geta different item as your reward.

For long, hard quests, a choice of perks that the NPC can teach the player. These perks can be bonuses to hit with (weapon type of choice), defense bonuses, critical success bonuses to crafting, etc (bonuses should not exceed +5). Non-tangible rewards that accentuate the PC is a great alternative to loot, especially when the goal of the design team is to keep player made items much better than NPC drops.

Holo, you need to get item drops in the game that combat classes can use and sell to each other. Maybe it would be rings, capes, bracelets, necklaces, that add nice stats just as good as armor, or add damage to weapon hits. But, I think sooner or later you are going to have to realize that crafters are the smallest part of your games population and put in weapons and armor drops that are better than crafted.

I was in AC2, and they said the same thing you have said. We don't intend to ruin crafting by adding weapons better than can be crafted to the game. They have now done that but it's too late.

You know why EQ is so successful. They make the majority happy, not the crafters. They have awesome item drops, although they also have a nice crafting system.

Talk to the people over at EQ and get some ideas. Don't you work for the same company?

I think making a special set of armor schematics for armorsmith, a special set of weapon schematics for weaponsmiths, etc etc.....these schematics could be master only and quested for by those crafters even possibly???

Each of these items could have better stats then what is currently available because they are crafted items...

If they are really uber you could require certifications for them similar to epic quests in EQ......

Finally the REWARD.....have the rewards for the quests be items that are only found via quests and are a required component for the above mentioned new schematics.

That is my two cents...

I like that idea, the items being quested for BY master crafters because that adds a whole 'nother option of certain dungeons being rumored to contain certain resources or valuable schematics. If you're a master crafter and a combat class, you could try to quest for the items yourself or hire someone else to bring them back for you Or hire an expiditionary group to go with you with the understanding that The Big Prize is yours. Yeah, some interesing possibilities for every class there...

So many post so it probably won't get read but...

  1. Superbuffs or food that gives really good specs but it will be used up over time.

  2. Jewlery instead of badges.

  3. Free vacation to... Include the travel tickets and such. Maybe have a movie house that only people with tickets can see short clips of something.

  4. New emote or combat move that is class specific or choosable.

  5. Better armor or weapons for droids.

  6. Cool waypoints.

  7. Resources that are special and in limited quanitiies.

  8. Weapon powerups that go up to 60% or something like that. Let the user choose the area of powerup!

  9. A house deed that has three months already paid up.

  10. Permanent increase in stats.

  11. Increase in skill points.

Another thing you have to think about is that rare schematics that make weapons better than a crafter can normally make will also eventually make crafting weapons obsolete. Everyone and their dog will want the weapons from the special schematics not the regular ones crafters can make.

If they are better than crafted and everyone can't get them or buy them from others, people will literally tear the boards up with "Joe has an uber weapon and I can't get one. He can kill me easy!" I quit!

Armor is good and everything...but aren't we all forgetting our furry friend's the wookies. For the wookie man I'd love to get some great clothing attachments maybe a +5 medicine use to free up 15 sp from novice medic or some other real good skill bonuses; Armor upgrades seem to be a dime a dozen lets get some great clothing upgrades out there guys.

Not really. Provided the schematicsare rare, have random attributes, decay quickly, and cannot be produced in great numbers, there shouldn't be too big of a problem. Or at the very least, it would be short-lived.

Ultimately, the reward should have a short life span if it affects the abilities of a player (things like Bantha dolls do not have this kind of effect). It should also bea one-time deal per person. Once you have received your reward for a quest, you will not receive the same reward twice.

And finally, it should be random. Create several different "rewards" for each major quest and have the final prize be unknown until the quest is completed. This would do away with people who "connect the dots" because they know there is an uber-weapon at the end of the rainbow.

Drop some of the decorative furnature etc that you already have in game, but that is unavailable to us. i.e. microphones, paintings, and all the other cool stuff we see used in static buildings that you have in all the cities. This is less work on you, as those items already exist. What about some of the gambling machines for our PA halls, some stuff to make a proper bar with for player runcantinas, mission terminals (drool), or even on faction quests, make uber faction drops, like faction structures, or armor.

Its funny this came up today as a topic . A friend and I where just talking about how there is a lack of clothing and armor attachments dropping .... Maybe they are not even dropping at all anymore . I have not seen one for ages. Something needs to be done about the drops from creatures / Npcs ....currently there is no reward for hunting other then hides / bone / meat . The armor attachments that the volitor lizards drop on dantooine was a nice surprise to me . There needs to be more of this so that you feel like you are hunting for a reason .

Also rewards for quests need to bemade better . Spending the time and effort to do these quests , only to find that the quest is broken or that you get a CDEF pistol is bogus and frustrating . Alow groups of resources that are higher quality thennormal or item enhancers tobe part of the reward so thatcrafters are still needed to complete the item you will get in the end .

If something is not done soon I may just leave this game . I have spent all my skill points , done all of the Rebel questsand have almost achieved the highest rank for a Rebel, and I have accumulated over 2 million credits in my current bank account. There is not much more for me too do at this point and killing Storm troopers over and over with nothing to gain (not even a clothing attachment) is starting to wear on my nerves . The game is losing my interest fast ...

Anyhow please consider these points and other that people have put forth or risk losing people over bordom and lack of interest . Draxzz Master CH / Master pistoleer Lowca server.

Myself I don't care about UBER as much as Unique.

Cool gadgets, or unique Schematics for the Artisans to make for the People who find them etc.

The problem is there are so many people who look the same in a way its kind of Lame, at least in other games you could tell people by thier equiop just by looking at them.

The reason that Fett and Vader are so cool is partly because of thier look.

We don't have capes (even though Vader and Lando wore them)

We don't have unique armor, and the fact that most armorers of note on my server make armor by schematic so I can never seem to get it colored the way I want, nobody wants do custom jobs which is so sad.

I mean getting a good custom item is better than assembly line crap anyday you would think.

I would definitely like to find something more valuable than an empty box or crate or container. I've heard stories these were locked when the dungeon first opened, and when sliced, the slicer got 1000 xp. Well, it would be nice if they would relock when the dungeon respawns or something. It would also be nice to actually find something in them, be it money, a valuable resource in some quantity (anything less than 1k in amount isn't worth very much), or an item or schematic to boost crafting. I don't know if this would upset balance or not, but it would be cool to get a one-time reward per really difficult dungeon of some extra skill points...... that would be sweet.
