Making the path to becoming Force Sensitive "unkown" , is like re-electing George W. Bush for a 2nd Term ....
So the obvious choice is .... MAKE IT KNOWN.
I suggest tie it into some form of in game tasks that can adhere to each person's unique profession. Have some random % based chance of an NPC or something happening after x amount of days since activating an account and/or killing or completing certain tasks/missions pop up for the individual which they can interact with to get information on where they should direct their effort and game time in order to become Force Sensitive ...
This way, the path is somewhat known, while still adding in the element of mystery and surprise.
My only question about this is ... What happens to those of us up to our heads in completed holo professions already?... we KNOW we are on the path to becoming Force Sensitive, and are stuck 1/2, 3/4 or somewhere inbetween the process. For us, it should be known, for someone who just purchased the game, it should be relatively unknown when/where it will become more clear to them.

The Path TO FS shouldnt be misterious. You should have an option at the beginning of making your toon to be FS or not.... That is how it should be.... than the jorney to becoming Jedi should be trials and quests.... ver long and hard, BUT, since you already started the game and it has been running for 1 year, it is going to be very fun and diff. to get this in motion, but, it shouldn't be a mystary... not at all....

Known, very known
FS should be attainable by all
FS to Jedi though should be difficult.
Really, Look at the FS skills, they are really just alot of Skill modifiers. It is like have millions in SEA's. I would rather get more melee speed through FS then by spending 6 million on a attachment.

/me notices how all the current jedi have voted to keep the system hidden.
I would like to see the path layed out for us. No one wants to go through all that mess about unlocking as before. It will just lead to mass grinding because no one will know.
It wouldnt be fair that all the current jedi got their slot so easy, if you did make it secret then you would do a better job than last time and it would be harder to find out. Please make the path to FS available for all to see, then people who dont care can get on with their profession without having to worry about any jedi related FS paths.
Sure make it hard, make it so you cant do it alone. This game is about interacting with eachother as much as it is about exploring on your own. People have already figured out how to complete the corvette on their own. I am sure you promised that it woudlnt be possible to solo that.
Make it fun, and exciting. The worst thing about most of these theme parks is that they all either seem to be "bring my friend back here" or "kill a few of these people" What I want to see is soemthing like "I need to infiltrate a group of imperials, please find a master tailor and get me ashirt, pants and boots created by the same tailor" You know, something that relys on other professions to do, but not enough that you are able to dabble in that profession and complete it yourself.

It shouldnt be a mystery like the old way. That just frustrates too many people.
Let them get frustrated. There are way too many jedi on most of the servers. The jedi are hurting PvP because they are too powerful and do not attack other jedi. They attack weaker professions like pistoleers and bounty hunters.
NO MORE JEDI.
Keep it a mystery or this game is going to become Jedi Online!

I just hope there is some shape form or fashion of advantage to those of us who have been playing this game since near launch. I do believe the path should be known, because after all.. the mysterious path got told to everyone last time. I didn't grind to be a jedi last time because I didn't buy into the holo-grind concept. I don't believe I should be punished for waiting for this promised quest-based system. If anything, I wish I and others like me were rewarded for our patience as we played this game as you wanted us to while the people you stated messed the game up got their Jedi's.
I realize life isn't fair, nor is anything about this game the past year... but isn't it time the developers turned that around and really rewarded those that have shaped the game as best we could?
I only hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears, and the devs somehow make it to this 23rd or so page.

The path should be a known to all.
Mysterious might be fun but I don`t want to spend 6 months or so trying to become FS just to find out I have to spend another few months to become a Jedi.
A known path could incorporate a lot choice because then people can choose weather to unlock or not rather accidenly unlocking and later wish they hadn`t. Being a BH`s target when you unlock might not be every Jedi`s dream.

make it known.
anything else well be the Dev's greifing the players with their sick sence of humor.
with the old holo's you had something to look forward too hey if you do all prof's you well unlock...
make it like you have to find all badges that well get people out of camping their planet lol and see everything in game.
make it some profesions IE if a crafter wants to be FS let it be crafting Prof's that they can be asked by some random NPC like yoda. or a dancers with danceing prof etc etc dont make people do prof's they dont want to do IE crafter has to master BH....
Do not make it like hermit quest that was lame i did it, all people did were camp and camp more.
makeFS life hard when you use a FS skill make it give them a TEF open to attack from everyone.
WHY DID YOU TAKE JEDI TEF out of the game in the first place in no way did you guys make it harder on them just 200% easier...
also i still would like to know how are you guys going to give credit to people who grinded 20+ prof and didnt unlock heh.

I think it is impossible for this to remain unknown. Once some number of people have become jedi under the new system, their actions will be deconstructed to determine the manner in which to become jedi. Also, I think that the system will be more sound with the scrutiny and debugging that comes from the system being know. I think it is more important that the system be designed to avoid imbalancing the game such as the manner in which the hologrind through professions disrupted the game. I think the system can be 'known' in general but 'unknown' to each individual. By this I mean that the discovery of force sensitivity may be based on a large pool of factors, but only a subset are relevant to each individual. For example, each individual may need to visit 5 locations in the galaxy (as one component), but these five locations may differ for each individual. Some characters may need to visit locations, while others need to collect items, etc etc.
I think all these NPC quests in the game that no one uses should be tied in to force sensitivity system to give people a reason to use them.

I put up a poll, "Should Force Sensitivity be a known path or a mysterious one?" - - go weigh in your vote
Where can you find the poll? I can't seem to locate it?
Thanks

Go to the main forum...
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg
It should be right over the Dev Tracker
This poll will be slighted towards the power gamers... since most of them have 2 or more accounts for which to vote with...
I vote for mysterious.

I thought alot about this.
With the timeline we are suppose to be in we know there are not many Jedi. (Trained Jedi)
During this time there wouldl be many people who are Force Sentive which don't know they are because there is no Jedi Academy searching for Force sentive people. I have no issue with the Path to become FS a Known but long Stroy line Quest. (soething like the Hermit Hero Guest)
Where it should be Difficult is From FS to Jedi. This should be a Long and Mysterious path with difficult quest.
Like many have said Force Sentive People do exsist in this time it just the trained or training to become Jedi which was almost impossible or hard too come about.
The problem with being mysterious is the fact once peeps find the path it will be all over the Forum.
Makeita known good long storyline quests where peeps become aware they are force sentive.
Remember the force surronds all living thing!

I'm sorry folks, but for goodness sakes, what is the big deal with knowing the path to be able to be a Jedi? I don't think any of the Force sensitive characters from any of the source material ever decided, 'if I can deflect that seeker bolt, I will unlock my force slot....' The path should be as mysterious as you can make it reasonably. Now granted that won't last as soon as enough people succeed, but such is life. If anything *shudder* put a midichlorian counter on everyone and user THAT as a way to determine if someone can get attuned to the force
