The thought of krayt pearls being even somewhat rare.....lol. Players get them like their buying apples at the market these days. Not to put anyone down or anything like that, but it's true. I would love to see the Jedi system revamped. This whole holocron thing has gotten players to where they don't do anything but sit in a camp or dance in a cantina. Yes they are learning a new profession, but on the other hand, they don't pay attention the the actual game itself.

Anyway, some type of quest system is a great idea. But the quests should be very difficult yet not too time consuming, if they know what they are doing andknow the best way to go about the mission. Maybe a point system based on how aplayer reacts to situations and deals with them. Players should be picked at different times, not all at once can they start on the Jedi quest. They also shouldn't have to master X amount of professions to begin. That would be almost like doing the holocrons. Somehow keep it to where not every player in every galaxy that doesn't have a Jedi starts the training or quests at the same time. That way atleast some players might pay some kind of attention to the direction of the galaxy and their part in it.

As for bounty hunters camping, the spawn points of the trainer should change every time. Even, as someone said before me, there should be a group of Padewon or Jedi hanging around, or even spawn if the trainer or trainee gets attacked while within a certain distance. It's easy enough for a bounty hunter to wreak havoc on players. Don't make it even easier.

I think the something that hasn't been mentioned enough is the sacrifice Jedi & Dark Jedi have to make. The quests should ask them to progressively give up more, like material possessions or other skills. In the movies Jedi can't have a bride, they can't have material possessions, they aren't even supposed to love are they?

I am not a Jedi, andI have no intention of becoming one, at least under the current system. I opened my Christmas holo, decided the profession listed was not in character, and never persued it.

However, I have read a bit about Jedi, and heard people talking about it, and have realised that the Jedi system is really quite silly.

The idea of quests is great. However, everyones path to the force should be different, and so just doing a set few quests is a bad idea.

When someone creates a character, they should be a random starting quest. This could be anything, on any planet. Perhaps some modifyer based on your starting profession should be taken into account, for example it is more likely to be a delivery or entertainment quest for an Entertainer, or a killing quest for a Brawler. Each time you complete a quest, another random quest is assigned to you, again with modifiers for your current profession. As you may now have elite professions, you may get more varied quests, perhaps a Bounty Hunter mission for a Bounty Hunter, or a quest to kill an creature for a Ranger.

At the end of your quest, you know it was a force sensitive quest because of a slightly unusual text, for example, if you were to kill a creature, maybe as you kill it, text comes up saying 'As the creature begins to attack, you instinctively feel what that attack will be, what weaknesses it will expose, and you kill the creature with ease'. Perhaps an Entertainer is dancing as part of an entertainment quest, and they are are able to persuade someone who is watching to give them something, and a message pops up 'Despite a gruff exterior, you persude the mercenary to give you a valuable medalion, you never realised you had such good powers of persuasion.'

Of course, by random quest, I do not mean just static quests. Perhaps your random quest may actually be a mission from a mission terminal. Each time you take a mission, there is a 1 in 5000 chance that it may be the mission you need to feel the force. It can also be a dungeon, theme park, or a specific creature (perhaps your random quest is to kill a Kimogilla, or defeat a Nightsister.) This will stop all grinding of quests to become a jedi, but instead encourage people to just get on with their lives, Mastering their chosen professions and acting in character.

After a certain number of these random quests (perhaps 5 or 6), you become a jedi initiate, and your character gains access to the Jedi skill tree. YOU DO NOT GET A NEW CHARACTER!

Quite simply, the Jedi skill tree, from Jedi Initiate to Jedi Master or Dark Jedi Master is worth 250 skills points. (Initiate is 0 skill points, each padawan skill tree is 2 skill points, 4 skill points, 6 skills points then8 skill points, with Jedi Padawan being worth 20; then the Master Trees are 24 for Apprentice, 3,5,7,9 up each tree, then another 30 for Master).

You do not lose your current skills. If you are a Doctor when you become force sensitive, you are sill a doctor. However, as you progress up the jedi tree, you will need to drop your current doctor skills so you can advance. This means that at the beginning, you are not just a useless Jedi that needs to kill butterflies to advance, but you have your old skills, you are just starting a new journey, and only at the end of that journey will you be a real jedi, at the beginning you will just be a guy with a blaster who can feel things before they happen, or a entertainer who is more persuasive than most.

You get jedi experience for everything that you get normally, so if you are a creature handler, you still get experience for killing with creatures, however you also gain 1 jedi experience point for every 100 CH experience you get, in a similar way to combat experience. You can also gain jedi experience for successfully harnessing the force by using different force powers. You gain lightsaber experience for crafting and using a lightsaber. This leads to a slow progression through the Jedi ranks.

To stop people just switching to a profession that will allow them to grind more experience, thus acting out of character, they will be unable to get new novice skills. If you were a Master Commando and Master Scout when you gained your Jedi Initiate skill box, you would only be able to get skills in the Commando, Marksman, Brawler, Scout or Jedi skill trees. Should you give up Novice Commando in the journey to get Jedi Master, you would not be able to pick it up again. The easiest way to impliment this would be to ban the use of any trainers, with the exception of jedi trainers, although it is still possible to learn non-novice skills from other players.

However, a much quicker way to get this experience is to do quests, such as Jedi quests, for which the reward is not just loot, but also a load of jedi experience. This makes a quest more desirable. You can also get perhaps two or three times the amount of jedi experience by doing a quest in a special way. First of all, you can use a holocron (Lets not take them out of the game completely). These advanced sources of information are very mystical in the Star Wars books, and it is easily to imagine that they can only be opened someone who has enough power in the force. They will choose a random quest for them to do, which will gain them more than the usual experience.

The other way to get bonus experienceis by spending time with a more experienced Jedi. Any Jedi who reaches the rank of Jedi Knight or Dark Jedi Knightcan have a positive effect on other jedi nearby. If you are a learning jedi, and you have a Jedi Knight or Dark Jedi Knight with you, you earn double jedi and lightsaber experience. To encourage a Master and single apprentice, this jedi experience is only 1.5 times the normal with 2 apprentices nearby, and normal with 3 or more. Obviously, with the hugeamounts of jedi experiencegained through quests, completeing a quest as Master and Apprentice would become the best way to gain your experience, which, I think you will all agree, is exactly what Star Wars should be like.

These are just my thoughts on what would be a decent jedi system, please feel free to dish out the constructive criticism.

I like what you posted Divvur, the only issue that i can see is CREDITS. i don't know about those cheating fools that buy 1 million credits on ebay. that's not the way to earn credits on the game. under ther current system, if the devs took all of your advice, we'd be broke within 20 minutes and after 2 weeks, we'd never have a saber again. all the parts need to make a saber are RARE and cost MILLIONS of credits. will you have that kind of money w/o buying it off ebay?

ok .. i know this has been mentinoed before .. but still need to be repeated... over and over untill something is done..

Pearls and crystals are nessecary to obtain if one wants to gain experience (i'm sorry taining sabers don't cut it past padwan and even then)

one prime example i can give you is:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=lowca_trade&message.id=39411

right now the bidding on that pearl has hit 6 million. I ask you how a hermit whom has no contact with people and trains in secret locations is supposed to afford that! The only well equipped FSCS players are the ones either :

1. Main character is rich as hell and can afford to throw away money and still pay maintenance and keep on crafting his butt off..
2. Buys his credits on that e-sale site ..
3. has a guild suporting him.

so .. how are "casual" players trying to play a fscs character supposed to be able to progress unless they fall under one of those three categories?

This needs to end.

my suggestions:

1. Crystals ... craftable out of materials allready ingame and shcematics only available to fscs players. or just plain forage for them. Some quest type missions that give exeptional ones. (these missions only takeable by fscs characters)

2. pearls.. some decent/ok ones in chests in the kryat canyon .. kinda like the nightsister cave/panshee cave. a dangerous place to go afk/looting.

Theproblem i have with a Jedi doing quests to level or earn titles is this....SWG is rpg. Yes, there is some skill involved, but what it boils down to is, do u haveX amount of skills to completeY task.

For thatreason I feel questswouldbe a bad idea if used to level jedi. Make quests a bonus...like get a 5th gen light saber u complete this quest. OR get 2 skill boxes if you complete said quest.

There are enough things that the Dev's could work on in this game then to create a whole game within a game just for jedi.

Let Jedi level as they are now and throw in quests as some type of monthly bonus or something.

Make the road to jedi by gaining force points... like in the game knight of the old republic, make the quest basedabout force points with the same system thats in the game(knight of the old republic)

Maybe make some jedi academy and sith academy to get more force points easyer. These academy's gives u quest that u gotta do.. on every academy u get your own trainer that guidence u though the first base to become evil or good.

Of course this trainer is a Master jedi, so in secret tells u small hints when u complete his tasks that he gives u.

After doing all he says he cannot guide u anymore and u gotta find your own way to become force sensitivity.

So? what are u going to do now?

Sith academy: Quest doing evil things.

Jedi academy: Quest doing good things.

Thanks for your time reading and my english are quite bulky i know, so try read it with my eyes..

Yeah, "5 million credit apples". I never duped credits nor spent months on my main as a crafter, so I've never had the 50 million needed to craft a few nice pearl sabers. But I hear they are nice. I'd settle for being able to gather two crystals in a week, though.

lol have you even read what this forum is for ? i suggest you do its about the quests etc not how to improve the actual jedi class, and your idea to give just pearls 100000 durability is short sighted not everyone can afford them what about people with crystal only sabres? You want them to continue making sabres every few days while you use your stock pile of pearls every month or so?

Not a flame mate just saying don't fill this thread up with posts not related to the topic and the first post the main profession forums are for posts like this.

hmm well what if the holocron instead could guide you on quests, like a galaxy spaning questbut in order

to make your jedi custom it would give you different quests to do, for instance

when you find a holocron you open it up and it gives you 4 quests the first says toeither kill a little kid,

ortells you too finish the jabba quest,or tells you too destoy a whole pack of tuskens,

and the last tells you too walk a lost kid home. and which quest you choose will have an outcome on

your jedi (darkside or lightside)but one quest isn't enough how bout those 4 quests are all on one planet and you need you need a different holo for every planet, and

when you are done with those quests, depending on which quests you chose, it would effect you jedi skill tree

example: if you choose all the darkside quests you would have alot ofhigher dark jedi skills and vise-versa for light, but if you choose kinda in the middle for all your quests you would get lower power force on both sides such as lower darkside skills but lower light side skills as well, and every quest would give you a different skill therefor making every jedi slightly different oh and what if every jedi had a custom skill that no other jedi can have likehaving extra power on lightning or better lightsaber crafting. And that brings me to custom lightsabers because we all know that every jedi's lightsaber if differentand i washoping that theycould be customisedin a waysimilar to your character's customization, and what if you automaticly could experiment on your saber oh, and custom skill mods would be good too.

I will agree with most of what Nolan007 and Kiathis have said.... save for I am not sure I care to be hunted down by a Dark Jedi Master as a Jedi Initiate who has no Light Jedi Master to protect ye...seems a bit one-sided honey.... I do not altogether agree with the armor issue either...YES I do believe it would be nice to allow Jedi some special new armor/robes etc wear but then you are just flagging yourself to others as a Jedi when you roam around right? It wont matter what you wear honestly ...since everyone is allowed to get fully buffed up and wear composite which has high kinetic resists on it ....hence this being the one very humorous thing I find since Jedi Lightsabers are kinetic damage.....WHO THOUGHT THIS ONE THRU???

You know it must be really hard on DEVS... they must have foresight to layout how game mechanics will unfold etc.. they are only human and make mistakes too...I am not perfect...they are not perfect....BUT whatDEVS can do is relate to the frustration you hear in the voices of others...by reading these posts what I realize is that we are all not alone in whatwe feel....frustration that crystals/pearls should be price gouging items....frustration that to huntone has to lay it all on the line and hope some Bounty Hunter party(not just the bounty hunter himself) comes to ruinthe day, frustration that you have to risk yourrear to go get buffs (cause only doctors hang out in highly populated coronet/theed)so you can be protected in this highlyloved composite/kinetic resist armor...<looks hard at lightsaber and rolls eyes...kinetic damage sighs whenye knowsye saw Jedi melt a door in one of the movies...hmmm seems to me the damage is a bit heat to melt eh not that that would make a huge difference either...looks at lightsaber again and shrugs>

Guess what I am trying to say is that what Itruly want is this....I want a DEV come walka few days in the game as a Jedion a real live server, such as Starsider- that is a pretty heavy server,so thattheyknow what it is truly and honestly like.... play as if you would normally, take risks and hunt...see how long it takes for you to be contacted in tells bya BountyHunter telling you they placed you on their friends list <snickers> and my favorite all the bribes and harrassment...wouldn't it be great for a DEV to be a Jedi...oh and don't forget make it a female character that way you get all the male unwanted attention too <giggles> Truly I am amuzing myself here just thinking about this...I am merely curious to know how they would react when confronted with same stuff in game as others. Perhaps only because my mother always told me to be able to empathize with another you must first walk in their shoes....as I still do to this day...I ask them to take off them shoes and let me try them on... I have stood by many others as they have me in this game... when someone needs a shoulder to lean on I will still be here.

Lets give DEVS the chance to hear us and empathize and work their magics...am sure someone does care just that same as you its almost impossible for one person/DEV to read or react to all concerns all at once ...not going to get instant gratification...but I do humbly ask that we are heard and make a true effort to make a difference for the betterment of this game before we go adding more quests/themeparks might be nice to pacify the current concerns at hand is all
