Thread: IC4: Path of the Jedi
Misc. Thoughts concerning the current situation and the future:
Currentsituation:
- Jedi need to be multi-millionaires or Master Looters to get Krayt Pearls or Force Crystals.
- Jedi need to have about 4 million incomeeach week (with no real effort involved to generate those credits).
- Jedi are often not able to grind due to no creature spawns when more than 2k from an outpost. This bug rears its head often.
- Jedi have nocounter against a group of BHs with droids tracking them in a logical and systematic fashion.
- Lightsaber decay is high. As a result, Jedineed to generatemillion credits or spend MANY hours trying to ninja lootKraytPearls or Crystals (Issue #1). If you've ever camped Krayt Valley fora couple ofhours, you know how much fun you're going to be in for. BORING.
- Jedi have no Defense vs. Whatever (Dizzy, KD, Blind,Posture, etc.), no melee defense, no terrain navigation (ie. we have as many defenses as a Novice Entertainer for combat?).
- Jedi TEF system.
- Jedi are not able toplace homes.
- Force Crystals to be foraged. Krayt Pearls should dropfrom misc. higher level NPCs (fairly often drop).
- Jedi should be able to de-construct their Lightsaber to pull out old pearls / crystals for re-use in new, repairedlightsabers.
- No criticals for Lightsaber construction or repair.
- Jedi given a "Jedi Sense." If a BH droid is launched on the same planet, they should sense a disturbance in the force (System Message and Music). If a BH with a mission on their head or opposite-force user is in64m distance, they should sense a disturbance in the force (Music).Maybe no more than one Jedi Sense message per same event every 10 minutes? So, if Charlie the Bounty Hunter walks more than 64m away (back and forth)... I would only receive one message concerning the same individual.... only one message ifmore than one droid launch on the same planet from the same BH.
- Jedi need to haveDefense vs. whatever that the other professions are given for combat.
- Jedi should have a TEF on the BH that holds a mission on their head. The bounty hunter would have a TEF on the Jedi that they hold a mission on.
- There isn't a logical reason that Jedi shouldn't be able to place a small Tatooine house.
Missions:
Real player jedi vs. real player jedi.
Dark Jedi should be able to take missions to stopLight Jedi.
Light Jedi should be able to take missions to stop Dark Jedi.
Of course, some logic should be in place to prevent exploiting... such as the same mission can't be taken on the same individual more than once a week.
Jedi missions to hunt down BH that has killed a lot of Jedi. For example, if one BH has killed 12 Jedi, a Dark Jedi should be able to hunt down this particular BH.... a mission would be given to kill the BH.
If this mission system is introduced, the Light Jedi would have a TEF on the Dark Jedi that has a mission on their head... and vice versa. The same for Jedi hunting BH... the TEF would be both ways once the mission has been accepted.
How would the Jedi "track" someone on the same planet? They'd meditate for several minutes and then they'd "sense" the location on the person they were tracking on that planet. Once in the immediate area, they'd have a force special to help narrow the location if the hunted is in within 512m.
Well, first thing, the droid trade bug of no drop items would have to be fixed.. all items involved with the quests should be no drop to avoid having these things go up on the market for billions of credits.
I think the system should work like you get jedi and you get to die only so many times right. Then if you do die then then you get kicked out of the jedi order but with some skills you learned. You just cant use a saberto a high degreeanymore yaknow. That would mean you didnt have to go back to being a regular toon and you could still keep some of what you had being a jedi just not as strong. You could have an npc come to you and tell you your our and fight maybe and then try to take your saber from you.
It would be like a mini story and it could vary from one person to the next like having you get kicked out three different ways or somthing. It could be your own personal way to get kicked out of the jedi.I don't know just thought of that the other night what do you guys think. That could be pretty cool.
Another think i thought about was if your a bounty hunter chasing jedi if you lost you could not track any for lets say an hour after so that the guy you lost too would have a chance to get away. And if your a jedi then you could not use any of your abilitys for an hour of so.But you could go back to your reg guy and play fine. The time would go up as the bounty would so there would be some fear in going after the highest bounty or getting chased by the best bounty hunter. The ideas are not fleshed out and maybe somone has thought of somthing better but this is a forum and i just felt like sharing my thoughts that's all.
Thanks.
There have been lots of great ideas in this tread, but PLEASE address the current problems of saber construction, the complete absurdity of how crystals and pearls are obtained, and saber repair/failure rates.
Jedi should NOT have to be uber-millionaire-crafters with their mains to be able to acquire saber components! Give us the ability to either forage or craft our own crystals, or at least loot them from more reliable sources. When you have current jedi not playing the game, because they can't afford/cant find any crystals to make sabers with, something is WRONG.
If you don't fix this first, all the work on your new Quest Based system will be a waste, you're still going to have problems.
Sorry if this has been said before - I have not had time to read through all the pages
This is comment/suggestion about OPENING FS slot - not quests for Jedi themselves
I would like to see the new Jedi system give some sort of link between your main char and the FS slot char; so the quests to open your FS char slot can kind of lead to a sort of building of your FS char. I haven't worked this out in detail but I kind of envisage your main char doing quests that gradually reveal info about some other force sensitive being.
It could be like the new mayor voting system in Bestine I guess. The main char hears that there is someone 'special' somewhere and they set off on quests to find out all they can about him. Of course each piece of info needs to be corroborated by several sources.
Finally, when all the information has been collected the main char decides that this person must be force sensitive and decides to track down a jedi trainer. They present the Jedi trainer with all the info that they have found out about this force sensitive being (with evidence) and the Jedi trainer decides 'yes -this sounds like someone I would like to meet - please bring them to me'. ... or maybe even ...'bring them here to meet me, you should!'
Main Char journey's back out and finally tracks down this person they know so much about - and BAM!!! FS slot OPEN !!
The drawback is that - if you follow this too closely you eliminate a lot of character building choices for your FS char...or maybe that can somehow be part of the quests ?
I think the idea of Players taking on padawans is a TERRIBLE IDEA~~!
What that will equal to is the Power gaming Elite crowd accepting close friends and keeping it away from the main population. Anyone who is trying to push this all ready has that idea in the back of his mind. There should be absolutely no dependance on ANY PC character to obtain or train a jedi character.
I undestand everything you are saying...but the problem is that your attitude toward the holo professions are different from most of the players imo, for sure me..... and as far as you belittling the holo grinders rewards i say...SOMETHING VERY NASTY!...

One annotation to some ideas I have read
To the holo grinders reward for being "in the path" for so much time... well, I suppose I am going to be flamed, but I think that, although somehow they should be compensated, they should be given more hints or a little push in the right direction, maybe something more than that, but not sure if they (we, in fact, I am in my silent one, so I know what I talking about) should be given 50% of the path done... Yes, we have work hard, but in macroing, in finding the fastest way, the cheaper, the grinding. But there is still one piece of the puzzle we haven´t solved, the last one, and that one for some of us coult take out much more longer than the path we have already done, because it seems to be no way to know it, so, we are still lacking much more than those "50%" of the path. (ugh, I am being flamed!)
On the other hand I understand, from all the info devs have given to us, that everyoe should be able to get its FSCS some time. If you put a cap, make it random spawn, and all that kind of solutions, you are favoring powergamers a lot, a very lot more than casual gamers. Although maybe this seems to be fair (they devote more time) I have found that a powergamer is (mainly) that one you can find afk-grinding, killing senseless all kind of critters in the woods for the xp, or crafting day and night and shouting his spam in the spaceport. On the other way, casual gamers can be found doing a lot of things, but surely, they not enter one or two hours a day to grind and grind and grind. It is more probable in this case they enter to have fun, talk to friends, doing interesting missions... I feel these people make SWG more alive than the firsts one, but well, maybe I am wrong again (more flaming to me!)
More thigs why I should be flamed... let's see:
In the holo grinding path, I have found that I like some of the professions I have to do!! hehe. More than this. This way have helped me to undestand the strong and weakness in some professions, have me to love chef! (I will keep it, I accept orders! lol) and find some interesting bugs I could post and get things in the game solved. I now know how to combat some classes. Well, I accept this was not the best way to unlock the FSCS anyway, and agree that it needs to be fixed. Maybe if it were focused another way, they would have get more acceptation. Anyway, I prefer others ways as I have posted before.
Oh! and this one is the less "flammable" I think you should keep the second character slot for the Jedi. I think that Jedi are mainly devoted to his cause (it is difficult enough, I have heard). So it is not probable that when someone gets its FS, he still makes armors, weapons or that sort of things. So, although some people thinks that second char can be abused by Jedi to make money (this can be truth, I admit) don't forget that those shops you so much love, can be from a second char Jedi! Maybe the only ones stable atm
On the other side, when space gets out, I will want a pilot, and I plan to make my main char one, I plan to maintain chef and serve foods to my guild, I plan to get TKA maybe and making fun when (and if I get it!) my FS character has too many deathcounts, or, planning as I do to be "on character" everytime with him, want to relax and only have fun, instead of being a "wise, peaceful and focused man at all times"
well, that is all, I will put my amiantum robe and await your flames
