Thread: ID#2: Two Changes to Bazaars and Vendors
I agree with the idea of raising the cap of the Bazaars, I would like to see it raised to 10-15k, so that those who would like to place an item up for auction wouldn't hit a level that seems low, but would actually have the ability of causing competition in the auctions. Plus, it depends on what you consider a "pedestrian" item. Personally, I consider small houses a pedestrian item, I used them to grind with when mastering Architect. I could sell them for 5k and feel like I had gotten my money back for grinding, however, I couldn't post them on the bazaar, for the new player looking for a dwelling..
I do think that limiting a vendor on posting items is a good idea, 150 is low in my opinion, however, I also like the idea of storage space in a vendor being tied to Mechant skill, add something to one of the trees (they seem pretty sparse as it stands now)

To the Bazaar change I am all for it. It will increase the things that can be bought there. Another problem with the bazaars is that there is no incentive to using the bazaars in less populous cities (say on Rori) Give the people a reason to fill those as well and you will see a much more dynamic community.
For theVendor cap: very bad idea. If there is a technical reason that they need to be capped, so be it. But It should be capped at 1000. You would cripple the weaponsmith and armorsmiths with 150 limits. Heck I'm an archy and I have 200 items on both of my vendors. Setting a limit of 1000 items has got to be an improvement to the database, while 150 is over the top.
This change to 6k is ok... but if it is changed to 50k - 100k like some people are stating then what would be the use of being a merchant?
150 items in vendors to me seems a bit to littleperhaps 300 (thats only 3 pages and most vendors I go to don't even use that amount) ...though with some professions, such as tailor, there is a VERY large amount items they craft in the first place(not sure of exact number)AND then you have to take into consideration that each item is going to be posted multiple times (one for more sales you need to have more stock and also more stock is is need due to varying personal tastes of the customers (color of clothing, speed versus dmg on weapons, resist amount versus stats spend to wear... along with color).
So to recap...
vendor change is ok but dont get carried away.
and
limiting vendors is ok but needs to have a higher capacity than 150

I would like to clarify, that this would SEVERELY affect my ability to offer a VARIETY of items at different Experimentation levels, for different prices.
I usually have upwards of 20-30 items of EACH type of powerup, pslit across TWO vendors totallying over 700+ items in total.
I sell a ton of powerups, and i cant keep the popular ones stocked fast enough.
If i were forced to deal with a crapola 150-item cap on my vendor then i would have NO OTHER TIME for anything in the game besides resock the fast-sellers constantly.
People BUY the other items, but having the current stock limit allows me to keep those items in stock for longer periods of time, for the niche customers.
what is the freaking point of having a personal vendor, if you are just going to see nothing but 33/16 max/mindam pups, tat sunburns, and muon gold ONLY on EVER **edit** VENDOR IN THE GAME because that is the ONLY way we can make money is to ONLY sell the popular mainstream items?
Why even have the OPTION to make several different items, if we will be forced to ONLY have the top-sellers stocked because we cant afford the shelf-space for the other items?
You realize, of course, thatSOE knowsthat 150 items on each vendor is too low, but suggesting this number serves a purpose: when the limit ends up being 300 or a close lower number, it'll seem like SOE is being generous. There will be less backlash because people will decide, well, at least it's not 150.
Just curious if any thought was given in development about the impact of unlimited vendor items????????????????????????? Why is this being discussed now? Yet again, we are the victims of poor planning.
Get rid of the auction on bazaars at the same time.
Vendor 150 limit: don't use them myself, so: *shrug*
bazaar prices up ....good
limiting the amount to have in a vendor...bad
Increasing the bazaar cap - VOTE NO!
This is a bad idea as it will undermine the basis of having a merchant profession. There are too many HIGH QUALITY player created items that are sold for far less than 6k that belong ona vendor, i.e. ANY PIECE OF CLOTHING. Master tailors would no longer have any need at all for merchant skills. They would be able to sell everything they make (even bio engineered clothing) on thebazaar and make a hefty profit.
And really, what is the point to raising this cap? Are you trying to de-emphasize the merchant profession by making the bazaar more powerful? The only benefit to having merchant currently is the fact that it is so much more useful than the bazaar. Its fine, leave it alone.
150 item cap on vendors - VOTE NO!
THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
This is absolute suicide for some merchants out there. I have 6 vendors throughout the galaxy that all sell food and spice. Capping the vendor at 150 items will only ensure that people like myself spend ALOT more time crafting and restocking. Some weaponsmiths, doctors who sell stims, food and spice vendors sell more than 150 items a day off of a single vendor. Personally I keep my stock on each vendor up above 200-300 items, that way I dont have to visit each vendor each day. I can stock him up, and keep his maintenance paid for 100 days, and I dont have to visit him for 3-4 days to restock. This will change that. And since housing item caps are ridiculously low, this means I cant keep a backstock of it in my house. I will constantly be having to make factory runs and be running around to put the stock on my vendors. ATLEAST once a day to each of my 6 vendors.
And what about Joe blow entrepreneur? What about the guy who doesnt have any crafting professions but owns a hunting shop with his 1 vendor? I have a customer who buys food and spice from me in large quantities on a regular basis. He is a reseller of goods. He owns a small hunting shop on dantooine. He buys food and spice from me, guns from someone else, stims from a doctor, pet stims, armor, pet deeds, vehicle deeds, camp kits and just about everything else that can be crafted in the game. He sells each item for a very small markup on his vendor on dantooine. He makes pretty decent cash doing it, and I think its a pretty good idea. Since he cant make these things himself, he has to carry a nice stock. When he runs low, he makes another large order with me. All this is going to do is make his small business even smaller. Now, instead of being able to hunt and PVP and do all of the other things his character is built to do, he will be forced to spend more time tending his vendor. Retarded.
The idea of raising the bazaar max to 6k could be good...I have heard of theories that it will cause inflation...but I don't know if that will be the case.
The vendor idea Ihave issues withwith...some crafters have many many schematics and do not have the points to spare to get more vendors (or they already have thier vendors tied up in other endevors) I know as a tailor I usually have no less than 400 or so items in my stock, and that is when not even having every item I can make available. If I wanted color choices to be decent I would need even more room. The idea of a limit is fair, but 150 is far too low in my opinion. Maybe 500 or somight make more peoplehappy.
Bazaar increase good...
Vendor limit
...
Since I have mastered 3 artisan professions and dabbled in Merchant a bit...Im a limit to vedors placed...I think an excellent idea would have a vendor that can be admined to others whom dont have merchant skill to be able to sell there wares too like a joint marketing venture...since I have 3 professions I place alot on general vendors and need the amount cause of limited to vendor #s
I'm a master droid engineer and master artisan by trade and I need all the space I can get. I currently run 3 vendors.. 1 for droids.. i maintain at least 20 factory crates of seekers, probes, and batteries.. plus my speciality line ofhandmade droids.. so I am about always over 100 items on it. then my artisan vendor stocking speeders, toolkits, camps, used harvestors and all kinds of stuff usually about 60 items.. Then there is my 3rd vendor.. my storage guy where I have in the back of my workshop and all it does is hold rare resources componets for all the items I make including runs of 1k EMM 1k GP modules.. 100's of all the subcomponets to hand produce my droids.. He alone is most always 300+ items.. I cannot place these items anywhere else but on the vendor (for sell but at 9mil credits). I have 10 lots and no other accounts. there for i must manage the 2 houses, 3 factories, 11 rate10 medium minerial, gas, chemical harvestors, plus 1 fusion generator. Now that is my hell..
What i suggest is a new database, the current 1 is borked.. but sence that wont be fixed in my lifetime then raise the bazaar limit to 10K. And if you must cap the vendors then cap them at 200 items. And raise the limits on all houses by 50. Other wise you may be just pissin' into the wind..
