Thread: Faction Insurance Day Pass: How much?
Sorry TH, unless you can produce some solid reasoning on this, Im raisng thequery flag. There is a distinct difference between a faction PvP and faction NPC death........toparaphrase myself:
TH, with all due respect, do you seriously expect us all to believe that the game cant tell the difference between getting whacked by a player or whacked by a MOB, when its as plain as Jabbas arse that the game can?
As things stand, say I get killed by an NPC Stormtrooper. I lose no faction points, my items decay by 1% and I have to reinsure my items.
Now say I get killed by an Imp BH called "x-L337oR-x" I lose 45 faction points, he gains 30 faction points, my items decay by 1% and my insurance clears.
And the game doesnt know the difference between a player kill and a MOB kill?
And bearing in mind that the proposed system said that the insurance would not reset with a PvP death but the 1% decay would stay, and now, all of a sudden, you cant do it?
Weve told you before, we aint daft, so can we have a "not dumbed down" explanation?

Do you guys realize how much money people save with this? This is a fantastic bargain.
For roughly 50-100 Faction Points, players get no armor decay and 1 time pay for insurance for 24 hours? No decay and one time insurance for PvP is tens and hundreds of thousands of credits cheaper.
In 2-3 hours of hard PvP, a player can spend 20-50K credits in insurance andlose 10-50% of their armors integrity. No insurance at all means this stays in the game...I certainly wouldnt like that.

Am I the only one who think decay isn't such a bad idea? It adds actual consequences to fighting, if there's no decay then why not go battle over and over again, endless battles for everyone, and why not use your best armor and weapons all the time? With decay you have to choose your battles, know when to give up and perhaps save your better weapons/armor for a more worthy battle.
Why are people so afraid of consequences?
The way decay is now, your armor and weapons decay the same on death regardless of whether you have them equipped. And the way most of us are pushing for things to be, there IS a consequence for dying: it's either the cost of insuring items or it's 5% decay. It should not be BOTH.
You lose.
Ok, look. The 1% insured decay is never going away. Never. Accept it and live it, or don't and quit. Those are you choices. No matter how much we complain about it, it's never leaving. And I'll gladly eat these words if one day I'm proven wrong.
They don't want people blood gating.
So.. how to stop people blood gating... well, decay thier stuff when they do it. Even if it's insured. Then someone realizes hey, the decay is good for the crafters! TH mentions Tailors and Weaponsmiths specifically ina post, and has to correct himself to say Armorsmith, not Weaponsmith. EVERYONE should be throwing the Bovine Excrement flags on that one. Armor decays plenty in combat, and armor repair is a joke. As someone pointed out a page or two ago skill doesn't matter and the % of the tool doesn't matter. And the armorsmiths get richer because of bugged repair and double decay (though repair is probably 'working as intended' because it's a player/crafter driven economy). Tailors actually do get helped by this a little.
You can always tell who avoids Pvp combat.

You check in with your faction recruiter, purchase a day pass for faction combat (PvP and PvE), and for 24 hours, you will have no decay on your insured items.
How much do you think this should cost?
I highlighted it to make it more noticeable. YOu said PvP AND PvE. How about you restate it the way you said it in the beginning...
This is a PvP issue, Exclusively.
The "PvE" part is forwhen a Factioned NPC nails you- - NOT general PvE.
Thats a good point. It was a busy discussion. Ill add that to the initial post for clarity. Thanks
bah! armor already ruins this game. i propose we RAISE the decay on armor.
