Thread: Jedi Revamp Phase I
Can I just say, WOW
You guys are amazing, its nice to see that jedi is going to become a more accessible class to all, (especially people like me who can't get on all the time). This is a great idea and it will bring the community together rather than break us apart as we saw with the holocrons. The only one problem I can see arise is their may be mass amounts of people doing the quests at one time, and i was wondering whether that would give people lag, or perhaps become a place for large scale spawn camping by BH's? I'm probaly getting ahead of myself, thanks for telling us this much though, I love this idea, and its nice to know the casual gamer is getting a good stab at jedi too
ty Devs you ROCK!!!
Excellent news. If i understand it right.
Current jedi will keep their character, and I asume they will get the abilities to take up normal professions. And also keep their normal character. It would be like they have already created their 2nd character.
And current players will get to open another character for use as jedi or another profession. while also allowing them to keep their current character.
I really am looking forward to giving my gurrent character force qualities to help in his normal profession, I would also like to have my 2nd character to be totally dedicated to the force. This also solves what BH's wanted all along, in effect this will bring the majority of players the risk of being put on the BH terminals. It might just tempt me to go back and train as a bounty hunter again after the mess I had with it before and quitting it in frustration of not feeling like a real BH.
What are you nuts??????!!!!!
Seriously, TH/devs there are two huge problems here. First now every person would want to become a jedi, so they just get a free second character. Oh okay that won't cause any problems or unbalance. What are you devs nuts? I can see it now i'll be a BH on one character and my other character i'll be a doctor/armorsmith. Yippie free buffs for myself, and as much composite armor I can possible need. Which is good considering i'll be hunting lliterally thousands of jedi. Hell who needs a bh mission terminal everywhere you look there will be jedi. This game is going to be around how long years if it stays popular right? Therefore, even a casually gamer will eventually reach master jedi. Wow you devs are really capturing starwaryness for this time period, I just want to see tons of people weilding lightsabers around, trust me it will get old quick and i'll quickly cancel my account. I think the real problem here is that swg is losing subscriptions so instead of sticking to the original gameplan that being a jedi would be nearly impossible they've decided to allow everyone the chance to be one. This is exciting to a lot of people and I admit it sounds exciting, but it will get old soon, seeing tons of jedi running around. How unrealistic. So to keep subscribers and draw a few more in give everyone the ability to be a jedi....Okay thats fine if your thinking short term and are making your decisions on marketing and not your actual vesions. Okay fine sell out. But your not looking long term, like I said it will get boring quick. Whats fun about a few jedi is if your a jedi your something special your power ect, but 6 months to a year after the jedi patch I bet 50-75 percent of people with be jedi..So that just devalues the current jedi and doesn't make killing them exciting or playing one exciting. You got to think long term devs. You should of never even allowed anyone to become a jedi to be accurate to the time period. There are barely any jedi left in the galaxy, people would of accepted that. But no you had to tell people that they had the chance of becoming a jedi so of course everyone wanted to be one. To those people I say play any other star wars video game if you want to be a jedi. You devs really have no vision and if you do it is being supressed by sony's greed. Go with what you believe is right for this game and don't look back. What your doing would be like George Bush basing all his decisions on the polls of the day.. That would be stupid because polls change, one day most american's support the war in Iraq and other days they don't, depends on how bad the situation is at the time. If the situation is better then more people support him..But that doesn't mean he should pull out of Iraq just because most people don't approve...If you devs maybe made this game a little more exciting everyone wouldn't be so damn bored demanding to be able to be jedi to make things more interesting. This move shows no vision or character on the part of you devs. your just giving the mases eye candy and it will work for a little while but in the end it will do more harm than good.

Can I have a Jawa Sensitive Slot instead? I don't wanna be a Jedi.![]()
I would like to be a Jawa too!
Seriously though, my personal criteria on this.
1) Jedi should be kept rare, ie still a hard slot to unlock.
2) Current progress of either opening the FC Slot or current learned Jedi skills should be accounted for and retained. It sucks to lose something you worked hard for even if you aren't quite there yet.
3) Having some force sensitivity in your main charactor sounds great. The skill points for this need to be addressed in someway.
4) Get together with the space expansion people and make sure the two meld well with each other and compliment each other. IE force sensitity carries over to space abilities, jedi piloting skills, ect.
5) Those that would rather play a Jawa than a Jedi should be given the option too. ![]()
Thunderheart:
Will Jedi Knights be as strong as they are now?
If so where does that leave Bounty Hunters?
Force Block makesGuardians almost impossible to hit.
Is population control of high level Jedi no longer a concern?
Are Bounty Hunters going to be beefed up in order to take them on?
Right now we only have a chance with Padawans and the like.
Are the exploits Jedi use to throw off Bounty Hunters going to be dealt with?
Just this week I have had several Jedi log out and back in repeatedly, which shakes off our Arakyds and tells us Jedi are offline, and had a Jedi afk macro grinding Jedi surveying skills on a second floor deck of a locked house where he was unattackable.
A CSR told me that the latter is indeed an exploit, yet this Jedi is still playing
They use exploits like these now to level up safely to a point where they are too difficult for most of us to take on.
The problem will be worse if they don't even have to use exploits to get that far along.
I don't get it.
- Is SWG now officially two characters per server?
- Or are you just giving every Jedi an automatic mule account, as they get now?
Either way, I think this hurts the economy (continues to hurt the economy, in the case of granting Jedi an extra character on a server, as they have now), and I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea. We already get a lot of skillpoints to play with. This just makes even more people self-sufficient, and cuts out dependence on other people.
The way I'm reading this means that interdependence is now officially out the window. Interdependence has been on hiatus for a while, but its whereabouts were officially unknown - ie, we didn't know what the Devs had in mind for correcting the damage done by homomania.
Now we know (I think). It seems like you have given up on interdependence, thrown in the towel on the idea of Jedis being rare, and generally capitulated on the original ideas that drew many people to this game.
Am I wrong?
I could not believe that I will be forcedto PvP in order to advance as a Jedi. That is so out in left field that I can't believe it ever made it to a dev post, let alone one in 'in developement'. That does not match at all with what the jedi are about, (Dark Jedimaybe.) No jedi could have a goal of becoming master while knowing that to do so would require them to take countless lives...even starting towards master would send that Jedi directly down the path to the dark side. It was bad enough when I found out how much PvE killing was required to advance as a Jedi in the current system, but now I'll have to actually kill sentient beings (to top that they are avatars of real people!)
Please change this one quickly!
LOL, just a note guys. This jedi crap aint gonna save this game... FIXING the game will. I could give two squats about being a jedi.
I personally know of 15 people who have canceled their accounts in the last week, as well as my two accounts. We are all playing DAoC now.
I will not give SOE even one more cent, while you pander to the jedi wanna be's.
P.S. It will be a cold day in H E L L before I ever play EQ2 after the way SWG Dev's have fubared this game!!! LMAO
P.S.S. Bet this message gets delted within an hour, can't have any NEGATIVE post here... Gotta do damage control don't you know.... ![]()

The question many people have been asking is whether or not the Jedi (not the force sensitive) skills will require any skill points. While it's understandable to prevent people from becoming Bounty Hunters while being Jedi, what about Jedi who've trained innon-combatant professions?
When given the choice, nearly all combat oriented players would readily make the choice to surrender their combat skills and pursue a life as a Jedi. But what about people who have more of a crafting/socializing playstyle? Will they be required to surrender their non-combatant skills in order to become Jedi?
Well, we already know that Anaken had to drop DE to become a Jedi...
