Thread: Correspondent Top 5 Lists: Where we are and where we're going.
Hi
Let me say right upfront that so far I had a lot of fun with the game, :-) even if i don't like some aspects of it.
Thanks for everyone involved increating it.
K, now to the rest...not citicism..hmm. maybe constructive criticism -;
Just got a Holo as a present.GREAT! Told me to learn a profession which I absolutely DON'T like. Sigh..
Like so many playersI will just grind my way through it by using Macros. But what is the point? I don't have fun, that is the point! AmI being selfish..you bet. absolutely. Games are created to be fun..hmm, yea, and to make money..that also..but fun for the players.. Anyhow, even grinding can be fun if it is made interesting. Having a Char on auto for two weeks just to gain a profession which I will give up as soon as it is mastered is plainly and obviously FUTILE. There must be, and there are other ways of reaching the same goal.
What about,
Giving a choice of professions, or completing an almost impossible quest which leads to and has as a reward the exp to master a certain profession. Grinding can bealright if there isfun and a direction to it. What about a task where as a Dancer or Musician you will need to visit every Cantina in the game, giving certain exp which in the end will allow you to fullfill the requirements for the Master title or on the way a voice tells you "Your dedication has been noted you made this one.. or something like that.
Luckelymy Char didn't get Cook or Tailor. This would have discouraged me to the point whereI would have given up on everhaving a Jedi Char. I do know other players who have been giving up and have left the game altogether.
Just had a look at the World of Warcraft page, they will bring out the Beta in 2004. Believe me, those guys are good....sigh..very good. Unless Star Wars can attract players through better content then World of Warcraft and through more advanced game-play.. we will get our bottom spanked and players will leave in scores. This would be a pitty because Star Wars has the potential to be a superb game.
Thanks
Thunderheart.... Please answer this....
There is a nasty bug currently in the game that allows a tka to dizzy you and thern knockdown...It leaves you knocked down perminantly......They are also able to used a knock down more frequently then the stated 30 second delay.....This is an absolute game breaker...It makes pvp imposible if your not a tka...Also able to do this are carbiners....It should be a top priority fix...even if knock down has to be completly removed till it can be fixed.....Please give this your attention..
Looking forward to a great 2004 with SWG. Thanks for all the hard work and effort TH. You've done an outstanding job in the short time you have been with the dev team.
/salute!
The Commando Top5 hasn't changed since the last time you asked us TH.
1. HAR broken.
2. Launcher Pistol - we don't get any better, we don't get any specials.
3. Grenades - pointless.
4. HSW - see above.
5. Pick any issue at randomfrom brawler 4 requirement to usefulness of Master Commando, going via overpowered flame dot. I really don't care, the other 4 issues are real game breakers, I wouldn't mind you nerfing the flame dot if you fixed the HAR.
I'm really sick of this messing around with our top5, there is absolutely no debate aboutthe top4 issues. They'vebeen known and posted on the commando boards since you asked us in november (and that was for the second time).
Will you please do something to give us hope, I used to be a master commando, but I ditched it because of 3 out of 4 of our skill trees are either totally useless (HAR), mostly useless (grenades), or VERY situational (HSW).
This just keeps dragging on and on, I don't know Lord S personally, I'm sure he's a great guy. But he does not need to be involved in the current top5 issues. You know what our Top4 is TH, you don't need to wait for some unpaid volunteer to tell you what is.
/agree
and mabye a combining of the FT and HAR skill trees and make LP useful would be nice
I am under the impression you will say anything to keep everyone happy. You are a fine politician and I’m sure your stay in what ever paranormal place for evil you believe in will be extended from the filth and lies that spring forth when your tongue wags will not be enough to suit most of us.
Oh boy Transfer is at the top of the CH tree...yanno im a master CH and for anyone to try to sell that to me as something special takes guts. hey Kurt go change all the guns to NO DROP, NO RENT & NO TRADE "unless" they were made by master weaponsmith. We can do the same with Houses for the Architects, Bots and DE, Stims and BE/Healers. Are you getting my point here. Kurt tell us be honest for once, was this your way to present the phallacy that this was a non-nerf or were you made to say it was only a dabbler nerf? Put transfer at novice and maybe ill be awakened to a loud thunderous boom, the sound of atleast one member of SOE fixing their cranial-**edit** dyslexia. In the 4+ years ive dealt with this company ive yet to see it happen
Kurt this is the last time i will say it, i have no faith in you but if you want to prove someone is actually listening, fix the major CH problem. we dont get full FP credits for killing with our pets. I send pet in to kill an ST and i get 3-6 points (six being extremely lucky). yanno if youre gonna balance all game play fix this, i should be equal to everyone else. Commandos and BH's are tearing through ST's and i have to solo Imperial Cadets to get FP.
Is it reasonable to believe that if our pets are gonna keep taking vitality hits in PvP (often 50 at a time) that insurance will hit weapons soon?
Please seperate general concerns from the "Star Wars" concerns. Immerssion is a big enough issue to keep one person reading and posting all day (let alone actually finding time to play the game). I would love to see an "Economy" advisor to assist all professions in maintaining parity and profitability and a "Technical" advisor to handle bugs and UI issues.
I am aware this would generate some overlap, but I don't necessarily feel that a profession-oriented corresspondent is qualified to discuss bugs or issues that effect all professions (i.e. Economy).
Tam Darkfell (Intrepid/Infinity) / Vendt Darkfell (TC)
I would be more excited if it didn't take you 2 months to tell us that "the devs are looking into it". Remember when Q gave us answers almost exactly like that and then stopped because it was so obviously an unhelpful response to our concerns? Now you aren't even stopping, you are just going ahead and providing non-feedback and considering it a step in the right direction?
Tell us what is really going on. Tell us what the devs are working on NOW, not what they will hopefully work on soon. Don't just tell us that something is "a priority" tell us if it is a high, medium or low priority. Tell us what specific improvements we can expect to see in January (it is only 5 days away, surely you have some idea?). Tell us if and when you plan on making all the professions playable (six months into the game and you are still taking money from chefs and Droid Engineers? What kind of business ethics allows for that kind of conduct?).
Monday ask every one of the developers what they are working on that week and then come here and put the list up.
In response to....
Granted, this is my first MMORPG, and it seems there are many people like me who have never seen a game develop. Is it typical that a key system like combat is taken out and completely overhauled after six months? That seems remarkable to me.

Some things simply work better on paper or even in beta than after the game has been live for a few months. Be glad they are fixing it after only 6months.
Prime Example: Player Killing in Ultima Online - totally killed the game, took years before it was thouroughly addressed.
Be glad they are improving on their system now rather than wait until NO ONE wants to play anymore.
