or maybe, the advantage to being a smuggler is more subtle.

maybe other types of characters could do contraband scans?

like jabbas thugs? if they catch you with spice, they might attack, since they want to corner the spice market in their end of the system?

maybe this would be a good future direction to look into TH

and hey, im a BH-- but i still like to see other professions get beefed up a little. in my opinion, added starwarsyness helps everyone. and if at some point down the road smugglers can get a deathmark for failing a contraband scan, well, that works for me too

Last time I logged into Test Center Bria, there were 0 stormtrooper NPCs patrolling the new Bestine... if Bestine is an Imperial stronghold, we should see like 30 stormtrooper NPCs at all times with 1 or 2 game-owned AT-ST.

Also, I'd like to see dark troopers with flame throwers on patrol.

Can we get a little feed back and some history on why we've asked for a slice flag on weapons are armor SINCE BETA and it's not going in till publish 7?

You're once againoverlooking hugeissues. It's great that you're finally getting around to putting in this flag, but what happens between publish 6 and 7. We get busted for having sliced items, but have no clue if they're sliced or not? And if a smuggler screwed upon the slice, are they still flagged as sliced? This would have no statchanges, but still be illegal tocarry.

Well done. Another half-a$$ed ideal put into play before supporting systems were finished. Very well done. You've shot a 72 this round.

Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. - Hermann Goering

Disappointing. Smuggling should be for Smugglers. You now have Imps having a free pass.

My opinion is that an overt Imp should get a reduced chance of detection based on rank. But NOT a free pass. They are still subject to the Emperors laws. But at best, an overt Col. should only have half (at most) the reduction of a Master Smuggler.

Covert Imps should not get a free pass regardless of rank. They are under cover. By saluting them and giving them a pass you are blowing their cover. This should at least turn then overt (remember the scene in Force 10 from Navarrone about saluting undercover agents?).

TH

Just wanted to thank you and the Devs for listening to the community. What sounded like a good idea gone wrong, looks like a great addition of flavor into the game. Thanks to you all and everyone that posted their ideas.

Glad to see this community get some really good stuff moving...

Now... could you unlock my FSCS for me?

What happens if an Imperial doesn't salute as directed?

Why did you guys decide not to allow shakedowns in player cantinas? With the exception of interplanetary travel, player cities are developed enough (with mission terminals, med centers, cantinas, shuttles, player run shops, etc...) that you could easily avoid the static cities and rarely have any encounters with Imps looking for contraband. Not a very tough crackdown...

Something about no penalties for high-ranking Imperial officers with contraband seems wrong.

I think, at the very least, the penalty for Imperials should remain based on Rank no matter whether you're Covert or Overt. That will prevent Low Rank Imperials from going Overt just to avoid scan-penalties.

A lot of this sounds very good. People are saying that Overt (or High Rank Covert) Imperials will be default Smugglers, but if you think about it..... which side of this war is going to be doing more smuggling anyway? That's right, the Rebellion. I mean, I would much rather have Smugglers be useful for BOTH sides, but this is at least a good beginning.

These changes look pretty good except for one major thing:

Why the hell do Imperials have a better chance of avoiding scans than a Master Smuggler? So basically, all an Imperial has to do is be Overt or get a high enough rank and remain covert and they get of free! Even though I am an Imperial, I am very disappointed as I am a Master Smuggler as well. We have been waiting forever for content and when the crackdown was announced and smuggler bonuses especially were announced I was overjoyed.

Now, I don't see why I was excited at all. Overt Imperials atleast face the danger prevalent in being Overt (ie. having Rebels stick it to you) and it's understandable that they should have this benefit of getting off without a penalty but 'high ranking' Covert Imperials getting off free is ridiculous. So now ANY Covert Imperial is a better smuggler than a smuggler! Go figure.

Also, when you say 'High Rank Covert' what rank would that be? Because, the lower rung on the ladder is 'Low Rank' which is identified as 'having little or no FP spent on rank'. Doesn't that mean they are about the level of Priviate? Wouldn't this in turn mean than anyone jsut a few ranks above Private just get a salute and that's that?

I am very happy to see this whole contraband thing happening but if the Imperial penalties (or lack of) remain the way they are then everything will just be severly imbalanced with regard to us smugglers.

Good changes but I think the consenses is;

1) Imperials (no matter rank) should at least be TEF'd if contraband is found on their person. As the previous poster stated...if a stormtrooper salutes a covert Imp, you know he has some ranking in the Imperial ranks.

2) Possibly a small fine for higher ranking officers of the Imperial rank when contraband is found. Hell, Michael Jackson is a very high rank as a singer but he's not getting off scott-free...his lawyers cost him something.

This would give value back to the Master Smugglers...don't fix one thing and break another.
