just asking:
if two groups fight same enemy, the group which has done most of the damage will still get the looting rights, or is this going to change, too?
I saw looting rights mentioned....they were defined, sort of.
But I'd also like to know if the "higher damage" method of gaining looting rights will remain, or change somehow.

Hmm question I have is lets say your hunting stuff and you have it on lottery.
Lets take janta's for this case.
The janta has 8 jars of blood on them does the blood count as one lot and is lotteried that way or is it 8 different lotteries and you have to try and get the others from your group members?normally it was a winner takes all... I'd like to see if it could be split much like the ability for multiple people to harvest hides from the same creature
Right but what I'm saying is like dragon tissues its kinda pointless to have 1 tissue go to 8 differnet people because then nothign can be made from them unless they turn them into a non serialized item.

I have to say that I came in after a long day of classes...and I've been really amazed and impressed! Things are rolling quickly toward a much better SWG and the best MMOG out there.

Great change, this advances the very old group commands where you could just choose of being notified of looting or not. Sounds really good!
If there should be additional great ideas, you may want to consider to keep these restricted to Squad Leader professions only (no, I am not an SL).

Each player can either click on the individual items to bid or pass on them.
In the Lottery system, what exactly are you bidding - credits? Would this not mean that the richest person in the party would always get the loot?
Is it merely stating your interest thereby giving you a roll of the die for that particular item?

lottery seems quite nice, but how about after a certain time of not selecting whether you want to be in the lottery, you are considered automatically in? the reason i suggest this is that if you are engaged in heavy combat, you might not have time to respond to 2, 3, 4, or more corpses all being looted at once and displaying a popup window asking what items you'd like to enter the lottery for...
also, how about a sequential order option? first corpse's loot goes to person 1, second corpse's loot goes to person 2, etc. perhaps order of players could be based on order in which they joined the group.
anyway, it's very nice to know the problems of groups and loot is being addressed.

This does nothing to solve the issue where if you take a group of 5 out and kill something like a Nightsister Elder and she drops a single Crystal. Only 1 person shares in the loot. These things take a prolonged period to kill and can also be difficult to find. With any of the 3 systems mentioned only 1 person still walks away with the loot. This is unfair to those that helped the battle all the same.
