I would have to totally agree with the crackdown being a joke.. All this update has done is make Bestine and surrounding areas of Tatooine a Rebel feeding frenzy. I, along with the rest of my guild do not PvP, and yet this is putting us in the position where we don't have a choice. Glad I pay my $15 to do something against my will. Seems to me that with each passing update, the more you try to show the Empire is in control at the moment, the more you make Imps, both NPC and we the players, look like weak, flailing, jackasses. WTG SOE!


I am a Nov Commando and a doctor, but I for one, cannot take on 15 overt rebels with or without a flamethrower. And unfortunately with this publish, ST's now have brains the size of a walnut.... on the half shell.

crackdown, hmpf sorry to say but u forgot to give stormtroopers armor, make them more



also i am dissapointed with see alot rebels, well then overpowered TKA inside! capitol and slay 1 after another imperial officer for FP and shouting out how cool the crackdown is and how mighty TKA is blah blah. saw this TKA with like 20 corpses of officers inside some min there :/ thats very demotivating. guess that guy had faction haeven there


then i went to emperors retreat theme park, cool rewards there now , thanks devs, but! i had to see overt! rebels insdie the retreat and slaying TEFed imps. excuse me something wrong there, i would expect something like a Death touch from the emperor for each rebel entering the emperor holy place. like cazic T. in everquest said "DIE!" and poof u are dead


sorry TH, this is so sad, a rebel should never by any mean survive to be inside an imperial stronghold. u need to place turrets and faction scanners in and around such strongholdsor such and make it impossible for rebels to control such strongholds and run around laughing and slaying everything.

yep, i've experienced the crackdown to its fullest i can probably say, and i still dont have the feeling that the empire is large-n-incharage (thats the goal we were trying for right?). If anything there are more overt rebels (including myself) walking the streets (though that is because of the decay gone). If there were more troops and if they were backed by more AT-STs then i think it would be much better. I know that i would be more careful about going overt in bestine if there were 3+ AT-ST's on patrol. Right now its like a rebel party. My guildmates call this not the Imperial Crackdown but the Rebel Smackdown.

It's kinda hard to form any opinion on the 'redesign' yet... we haven't seen the results of it yet. But yes, I took part in the voting both in the capitol and in the museum. Nothing really engaging in it. Museum is a little bare, too. Never seen so many empty rooms. Rewards? Kinda confused. Rewards from what, exactly? There is a separate thread for the theme park redesign, so I'm assuming you're not referring to that. Actually, that wouldn't be in Bestine anyway. I canvassed the city for NPC's to give quests. Several people talked about the election. Got a loudspeaker from one... which I've gotten before from other npc's. One offered a mission same as a mission terminal would, which I turned down. Wasn't expecing anything different from that one either, but was I wrong maybe? No reward for museum thing, at least not yet. Same with voting-related NPC's, but it wasn't expected there. Did the Prefect's missions which I didn't know anything about. Don't know if they're new or revised or anything. But spent a couple hours probably, finished the whole set, and ended up with a handful of credits, and not much in the way of a story behind any of it. Too disappointed to even try any more missions. Read the whole thread and it appears that nobody has seen any rewards for anything in Bestine. The sky redesign is kinda nice, but wish it had been done right and the background was fixed to stay behind forground objects, if it was going to be looked at at all. Just calls more attention to an old bug, if you ask me. Stars shining through ships and moons is what I'm talking about for anyone who hasn't spent much time looking up.


And to echo what other people have said, When will we see the changes that you're asking about (when does the vote end)?

crackdown could be a bit better....These problems however are TOTALLY INSIGNIFICANT COMPARED TO THE TERRIBLE STATE OF THE CARBINEER PROFESSION. please start a similar thread for carbineers and you will know the menaing of broken professions. but you wont TH because i think you were beat up by carbineers when you were a child.

I would just like to say that the Imperial quests in the capitol had great rewards, I was blown away that they, in my opinion, outweighted the theme park missions. Yes you get to see Darth and the Emperor, however these missions gave you like 400 faction and 10k credits for the last missions. Nicely done. And the interaction for the voting was great, not just run to another room and vote, you had to do some work. Also it was fun "scrummaging" on the desks to dig up dirt on the other canidate, sean is a sneaky embezelor!

According to me the changes looks good but I fell Bestine has been turned into a farming for rebels.

I agree the stormtrooper numbers in bestine are a joke, ya can get more stormtrooper from placing a forward outpost than ya see in bestine.


Overt rebels everywhere looking to farm any that pop.


The troopers are no chalange to many players.


Didnt notices anything different yet with bestine after voting for the defence guy.


Seen a couple scans since patch.


Give Bestine more stormtroopers and let them hang in bigger numbers like 5 or 6 per squad so they cant be picked off fast by buffed solo TKM.

ok based on what the devs have said and what has happened here is what i think was going on when the crackdown was ordered

General: Yo darth wassup.... mmmm whats the smell?

Darth Vader:Crack... er order a crackdown..... yeah

---after the crackdown---

General:sir our stormtroopers are getting killed with 3 million dying a day

Darth Vader:still on crack.... er still continue the crackdown

It seems that Bestine is nothing more than a place for Rebels to come farm faction and exp now.. I'd really like to see the stormtroopers put up a real fight. They should be hard, and they should run in groups. Their armor needs to be more effective, their skills and damage output should be higher etc.


Also, the squad of 20+ troopers that likes to hang out on the other side of the hill outside Bestine needs to come back to town.. I believe they are bugged but they have been out there a few days now doing nothing.

At patch+30 min on Corbantis, there was a reb standing in front of the starport in Bestine, a pile of dead troopers around him, yelling "Bestine=Soloable"


So far, that's held true - once a day, sometimes twice, I see the same thing. Friday night, a group of about 5 or 6 buffed, spiced, and sliced rebs went thru bestine and held the place, holding all the recruiters and capping Imps the moment they went overt.


So far the Imperial Crackdown has been a Let-Down for the Imp players. The capitol city of a world is open to the Rebs, dozens of dead bodies in the street, and we get a museum? I think Lord Vader would not be pleased..... "Sorry about making you step over the dead storm troopers, Lord Vader, but we spent the ATST budget on this next exhibit...." Sounds like a recipe for instant-Force-Strangulation to me.



Suggestions, since positive suggestions are supposed to be better than just complaining:


1) Drop 3 troopers from the spawn on the south side of Bestine, and substitue an ATST. Dropping 3 object should mitigate the lag issue of the ATST being rendered


2) change the patrol of the spawn from east-west near the cloning center to north-south , from the cloning center to the starport


3) add Covert sensors at the starport, shuttle port, and cantina. Have several troopers near each one, and have code added that the ATST will come to support them.


4) Have the Imperials in uniforms (not trooper armor, but the officers and NCOs) operate as modified Covert sensors : if they come within 32m of a covert rebel who has an Imp faction of less than -4000, then they recognize the "notorious" rebel and sound the alarm --- and instead of just giving the guy a TEF, they push the rebel to Overt


5) Convert the Hill Base to a player Detachment HQ style set up, but with the above ground terminal retained for drive-thru mission convience. Allow players to donate to the defenses of the base, so that they can have turrets. Mod the code for the donate to allow players to donate mines to a minefield around the base.


6) Allow player faction pets to attack TEF'd players. During one firefight in Bestine, the Imps had 3 people, and ATST and 2 dark troopers vs 6 buffed, spiced and sliced rebels.... which sounds fine untl the faction pets decide not to hit TEF'd rebels. Oh, how did the rebels get tef'd? they just faciton-point farmed bestine. Considering the last stastics I saw were that 2/3 people on the servers were rebs, the Imps could use a little support here.


7) Pursuant to the Star Destroyers in orbit, add a "orbital artil support" faction point option for Imperials. For 100FP, you can buy a thing like a travel ticket. When you target something, then click "use", the star destroyer in orbit fires upon it, doing 3000 HAM to people within 25m (buffed folks could survive this) or doing 30,000cr worth of maintenance damage to buildings and structures. (for the damage to people code, you could modify the minefield code to turn on a minefield for 10 seconds, centered on the spot the target is, with 20 mines doing 3000pts each, then remove the minefield from play. Minimal coding additions for the programmers, since the code for that object addition/operation/removal already exists)


8) Pursuant to the swoop down assault shuttle spawn: how about for 100FP you can buy an 'Space Cav' ticket, that causes that spawn where you are, once? and make it usable when covert, the equivlant of calling '911' ?


9) How about a /tell911 option, to allow reporting of rebels? On doing this, there would be a random check based on the caller's Imp Faction point total, and if it was passed, there would be an assault shuttle arrival?


10) Considering there's code for Jedi to be added to the Bounty Hunter list, how about putting something in that rebels with a -5000 Imp Faction have a certain chance per day of being added to the bounty hunter list?


11) How about an Imperial verison of the TSA? Put a crackdown guy at every shuttleport and starport, with a good sized squad of trooper supporting them. Check for contraband as they get on and off the ships.


I doubt any of this will come to pass, but I do want to say that so far I've been _really_ let down by the redesign of Bestine and the so-called Imperial Crackdown

Did you go to the museum and take part in event?
Yes. No clue when the contest is over so I can see if there was any point to running around then picking one of three NPCs based on a blurb. Each should have had a visible example of his artwork, and they should have been a lot more individual, say a painter, a sculptor, and a holographer.


What did you like?
It sounds like there is some potential for some neat rewards. I'm the kind of person that likes to collect stuff.


What didn’t you like?
No way to tell when quests (the election and museum) are going to be "over".
Most of the museum was empty.
The Imperial Crackdown is laughable... and only if you are a rebel farming FP and TEF ganking. If you are an Imp, it's the Imperial Letdown.



Suggestions:


Put a covert scanner in front of the capitol. Why isn't the Empire even halfway as smart as players? Have the Imperial NPCs open up on any rebels that come into the capitol building and have a couple of buffed Dark Troopers in there for good measure.
If someone is repeatedly killing soldiers of the Empire, they need to be dealt with, harshly. Send a squad of stormtroopers, mixed assortment, all using their special attacks, supported by an ATST.
There is no way a rebel should be able to get into the Emperor's Retreat. Any rebel that tries should have his head popped of by Darth Vader. The area around the retreat should be heavily patrolled by elite dark troopers.
If someone kills troopers in the cantina, the Empire should shut it down until the rebel threat is expunged. That means the lights come up and all entertainment effects come to a stop until the offending rebels flee or are slain. It's insane to think "What's that? Rebel go-go dancers killed three storm troopers in the Theed cantina? Well, send another three."



My grade for this Publish... D+.




No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.
