I agree in the fact that it unbalances PvP to the victor, and makes it tough to take revenge (which is the justification of the revenge tef).

What are the "one time" foods that can be exploited? I can't see many people saying "My defense vs. Knockdown food only has 1 minute left on it, but my stomach is still 60%, kill me quickly!". It's no different then prior to the last patch where people would intentionally die to get better buffs.

TH posted the reasoning on this a while back. He said it could be exploited heavily in PVP.

Why can't everything be cleared when we die? All temporary stats and buffs are reset to zero. Don't punish everyone because the people that PvP might exploit.

I thought TH had said that instead of emptying our stomachs, we'd keep the buff past dying. It would be very helpful if he could confirm or deny that.

The solution seems simple to me... when you die, you lose ALL food/drink buffs/effects/states/etc. and your stomach is emptied. Am I not seeing something here?

That would be a viable option, it would solve the problem of exploiting (you can't rebuff while you are buffed, not much point to it, plus I think theres a buff cap) and the problem of the food/drink bars at the same time.

your stomach is still digesting the nutrious brandy, but you receive no buff. you now have to wait for 45minutes for your stomach to clear before you can put on your armor.

1) why does your clone respawn with a full stomach. you can rebuff doctor buffs. why does food carry over in the clone, but not strengthh enhancing medicine?

================================================================================

It all comes down to game play.

- Doctors can buff more attribures, can buff them to higher values, the buffs last longer, and can buff practically right away.

BUT Doctor buffs cost a lot and you need a Doctor to apply them.

- Entertainer buffs dont cost anything to apply so they take longer to apply and dont last as long.

- Chef buffs can be applied fast, dont need any special skills to apply, dont last long but can be applied about every 30 minutes. Provides a large number of buffs, from skill buffs to stat buffs, etc. To further balance these against the above two buffs, you dont get to take advanatage of them across cloning

So in order to keep exploiters from exploiting, you're punishing everyone. Thanks.

Unfortunately, there is no way to PvP with any kind of success without a couple hits of brandy. If you really want PvP to consist of one death (poison/disease usually being the one), then engineer the system to reflect that.

I don't see a "buff bar" that prevents me from getting rebuffed after i die? I sense a disturbance in the force here.

That is completely backward thinking!!! Why give a revenge TEF then?!??

And actually, if that is giving game balance then you should fix it so that if I had 1:25 left on my doctor buffs, that I have to wait for that time to expire before I can REBUFF!! And if I had 10 Minutes left on my Spice enhancement, I should have to wait that out too! And hey, why not throw in theDOWNER as well!!!!!!!!

WHAT?!?!? No thats not supid thinking, thats Exactly what VASS said. Its Balance!!!

OMG you DEVS areConfusing sometimes!

You should make all buffs act the same. That means either they all have a "filling" period which, regardless of death (does this make sense?), you must wait out - OR - Death should clear all (which only makes good sense)

Please reconsider.

Thanks

I'm not hugely for the food buff thing bieng removed, i jut thought it might be a good idea, but now that I understand why the devs don't want to remove it due to revenging in PVP and other stuff in PVE (forget what exactly was said about PVE exploits), I don't mind it bieng left the way it is. However, having the food buff effects remain is a possibility if the devs want to try that.

I agree, I want to know if everybody can wear it including wooks, or if it is profession based, that is, BH only.

Translation: We're too busy/laxy to fix this right now unless more people complain about it.

There is absolutely no reason for food/drink to be unique vs music/dance buffs, doc buffs, and spice buffs other than you not wanting to bother fixing something obviously wrong with the system.

It's just sad to see you guys throw around BS 'balance' excuses for it. Just come out and say the truth for once, eh? If there are effects that somehow stack upon death and are beneficial to clone and reapply over and over (which I seriously doubt) then you simply fix those effects to clear on death.

Bad answer.
