Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 3-8-04)

Since launch, the most well-written NPC quest in the game has been 1/2 broken: the Hero of Tatooine Quest (a.k.a., the Hermit Quest). The Marks of Intellect and Altruism have been achievable, but the Marks of Courage and Honor have never been able to be finished. This has been the case since launch, around 8 months ago! During that time, many threads have been started asking for updates on the status of this quest, but no official word has ever come down to us. In fact, there is currently a 200+ post thread ongoing simply looking for answers to the following basic questions regarding this quest (with no official replies):
- Why has this quest gone un-fixed for so long?
- When will the quest be fixed?
- In the meantime, are the Marks of Intellect and Altruism still spawning?
The thread can be found at the following link:

I know that not every thread can be responded to by a Dev, but this is getting a little crazy. Please respond with some concrete information. Thanks!
I would also like to see what you have to say on this, TH.
#1. The Wookiee armor problem is no longer just a species issue. It's expanded into the professions. Every time a wookiee dies in combat he's more likely going to go into the profession forums or elsewhere and cry "Nerf <enter combat profession name here> they are too powerful because I got 1 shot killed" or similar. I've tried unsuccessfully to get the point across that this is not just "Another species issue" it's a core problem that's going to have reprecussions on the up comming combat changes, and until it's addressed the developers can not expect any reliable feedback from any Wookiees while testing the up comming combat change patches. This is going to result numerous requests for lowering the dammage on weapons from the wookiee population durring the combat testing on Test Center, while the rest of the population complains that the dammage isn't enough to significantly injure an armored opponent. If a propper solution to the wookiee armor issue is ever implemented this is going to cause in balance to happen again and it will require a few more combat pass's in order to get things just right.I'm sure that your going to be doing these combat pass's a few times any how, but as I see it if wookiee armor was implemented now you could fix any combat in-balances in roughly half of the passes that it takes to implement the combat changes wait a few months add wookiee armor and then do another combat pass.
#2. If the wookiee armor problem is not addressed by patch 7 I humbly request that you please put the "Warcry/Wookieeroar" change on hold. I understand that it's being abused by some players however after decembers creature handler changes the wookiee +10 Creature Taming bonus became effectively useless because you can't tame a creature that you can't control even with the bonus. The warcry change takes the +10 Warcry stat that wookiees recieve and effectively makes it useless to us wookiees as a defense mechanisem (which is what a large majority of the wookiee population is doing in order to compensate for the in ability to wear armor.) The change to warcry/wookieeroar from my perspective is completely un-acceptable unless you compensate the wookiee's with an alternative defensive ability or implement an armor solution.
#3. Wookiees have been largely ignored in even the latest additons to the game. I got a wonderful X-Wing flight suit from the rebel theme park that's completely useless to me as a wookiee because I can't wear it. I also recieved a great B-Wing flight suit from the rebel theme park that is also unable to be worn. If these two items didn't have stat bonus's then it wouldn't be much of an issue however that is not the case. The same thing applies to the majority of the other quests in the game. Wookiees can not wear the crafters apron which is a gift from jabbas palace. If you do not want to give non-wookiees "useless" quest reward items, I request that a wookiee only theme park be added where us wookiees can go and recieve items of equivilent quality which we can actually equip. Or perhaps offer a choise of rewards in all theme park missions? What ever it is it either needs to be a peice of wookiee clothing, a bandoleer or a belt for us wookiees to wear it otherwise it's just a useless house decoration or an item I can't sell because people can re-do the theme park a half dozen or so times now.
#4. Please address the wookiee species issues that were sent to you over a month ago. I'd personally appriciate it if you went into as much detail about up comming changes and responces to our requests as you could with out over stepping your bounds. I'd also appriciate it if you could take the time to give us a round about estimate of when we can expect these changes, not a date but perhaps just a patch number and we can guesstimate when that will be comming.
- Thanks.
What is your vision for Smugglers? Been a master for about 6 months and still waiting on the "love we were promised"
Crackdown?
Please remove the restrictions on doing missions.
I am sick of being told "Come back when you are stronger" for missions i have done in the past and dont look forward being told that on new missions that might be added.
It should be my choice whether or not I attempt a mission, not the games. this adds NOTHING to my gameplay except irritation.
Also please define what "stonger" is.It is very vague and meaningless. There is no way of knowing what the game considers stronger.

Here's a real, real, real simple fix for you.
Spraystick is supposed to be Acid damage
Tusken Rifle is supposed to be Kinetic damage
T21 is supposed to be Blast damageI always though spraystick should be restraint. Is this spraystick the same as the stohkli (very mispelled) spraystick, which i believe shoots an energy net of sorts? I don't have my weapon book handy, otherwise I'd look it up.
No, the Spraystick is quite different than the stohki (I don't know how to spell it either...), the stohki being quite longer, almost baton length. The Spraystick fits in one's hand similar to a lightsabre, but not as long. Think of the spraystick as the Star Wars version of Mace.
The closest gun I can compare the Spraystick to is the Merr-Sonn J1 "Happy Surprise". It's a palm/holdout blaster that's very tiny, smaller than the spraystick. It fits in your clenched fist and only protrudes on top for the thumb to press the trigger and between your first and second fingers to fire from. It only has about five or six shots in it before needing a fresh power supply. It is very different than the Spraystick.
Spraysticks are like a pressurized canister of volitile mace. It's supposed to be acid damage.
TH, can we get some kind of official statement on what is going to happen to holocrons andprofession grinding when the new "quest for jedi" system gets implemented?
is the current holo/profession mastery system going to be totally abandoned or, hopefully, will the 2 systems be in-game side-by-side?
in january i was in a real rutt with my character and wasabout readyto cancel my subscription, buti had those 2 christmas holo's and thought, "what the heck, lets see what happens." i've had a blast mastering the 2 holo professions (2 professions i probably would have never considered trying, btw) and learned some new tricks and what not because of it. i would really hate to see this part of the game totally scrapped.
First..the Wookiee armor issue. TH I dont know how much you look into the galaxies forums but there are plenty of posts about the protest that occured last friday (2/27/04). The armor issue is a HUGE problem in the community and resulted in the protest. Wookiees are not the feared warriors that they are supposed to be. We are the weakest species because of lack of armor. PVP is a huge challange. Now some other players say thats what the PSG's are for however they dont work. The HAM advantage does not ake up for armor, we need armor that can allow us to compete in the battle arenas. The CH profession was also nerfed and thus makes our bonuses pretty much worthless. Now there's talks about warcry/wookieeroar being nerfed, another one of our bonuses.
Merchant: Limiting the vendors to only 150 items will create problems for vendors that are currently stocked well over 150 items. WHat will happen to our excess items? One problem merchants always have (good merchants that is) is stocking our vendors. Placing limits on our vendors will require us to have to restock more often and will result in many more empty vendors...hurting alot of merchants' credibility. The in game economy is bad enough as it is and the situation will only make it worst.
Shuttles: I suggest that the wait time should be completely removed if not reduced in starports. I can understand wait time for player cities because they do not have the heavy traffic that major cities have. If anything Coronet should not have a wait time at all. Coronet is the center of our current universe, and the wait time at the shuttle results in more players at the city thus increasing lag.
Wookie Armor is definatly(sp) a show stopper. I am very proud to be a rebel on my server, but can't even remotly consider ging overt for fear that some other combat profession will see me first. Once they spot that I'm a wookie, they figure easy pickings. Big issue, they're right! I'm not looking for a Nerf of any of the professions, as that also ends up hurting the wookies in those professions, I would just like to be able to stand up for myself in combat, and not have to rely on rezzes from docs.
Just my 2 creds
